  1. No huddle usually is effective only if the offense is more talented than the defense. While we have some good receivers and decent running back, or QB is still hot and cold, and offensive line will hopefully be at least average. When phasing teams with very skilled players at end or lb position, it can be very vulnerable. Line doesn't get chance to discuss things between plays to fix potential communication issues, and more likely for plays to break down for both offense and defense. This is where k-gun excelled, in that they had a very good line, and skill players to take advantage of defenses mistakes, while being skilled enough to cover for most of their own breakdowns. Plus they ran only a handful of run and pass plays over and over with only a few changes from game to game. They ran those plays so well, that was tough for defense to tell what play they were running most of time, as they started allot alike, and were run very crisp. Don't see that in this offense honestly. We aren't going to out skill many other teams in the league, I do not believe. Another reason I don't see it as being as affective as was in past, is that defenses have microphones now too, so they can get plays in very quick, and also plan for subs a play ahead of time, to loose some of advantage of tiring out the defenses due to not being able to sub. So basically I agree with what you said.
  2. I think TO will help improve the passing game considerably, but the no huddle offence will kill the defense. Overall I do not think we will do as well as last year, since wont have benefit of a fast start, do to the chemestry issues on offensive line, and what i think will be below average linebacker play on defense. And mostly the fact we play allot of games against 3-4 defenses, but doesnt appear as if TE can read that defense for pass rush or coverage very well at this point in his developement. My guess is 6-10.
  3. Was sort of hoping for Tyler Thigpen, but according to this article would take more than a 5th rounder, and do not think he is worth that much. http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/08/26/jacksonvil...-talking-trade/
  4. Before start comparing based on preseason stats, there are a few things I think we need to take into consideration. 1. The teams don't prepare for each other for preseason games. Things like special blitzes, plays or players are taken into consideration, because they don't game-plan for game or team that going to be playing against. They do not spend any time in film room review tendancies. When playing against a team that has good pass-rush, or runs allot stunts and blitzes, they haven't typically seen those plays in practice of film to properly prepare for them. So they tend to be more affective, and make it hard on offense. There was an awful lot of blitzing and schemes on line that GB used in that game which isn't normally done in the preseason. They are putting in a new defense, to they where not as vanilla in their schemes as most teams typically are. While would like to see TE respond better than he did, is not surprising that they had a hard time against a style of play they have not been practicing against, or seen yet this year. 2. New offensive line. This is first time this line as is currently configured has seen a 3-4. They didn't fair well in their blocking scheme, but considering that they where not only facing allot of blitzing, they were also facing a 3-4 for first time. Guards/Center have different responsibilities, and have to do allot more passing off with blitzing in different ways than have had to yet. It took several drives before line starting to gel, and first unit offense suffered for it. They never really got comfortable in run blocking, but pass blocking improved as game went on. Possibly just because of drop off in talent between first and 2nd units, but also possible do to exposure to it over course of the game. While it wasn't a pretty game, and first team offense wasn't good at all. I don't think it would have gone that poorly had this team been properly prepared for. They still are a much more talented team in allot of areas than bills are, I think first team offense would have fared much better if they actually spent time preparing for them.
  5. Guess this is what happens in old age. Get so senial dont understand logic when its presented anymore.
  6. Count me in that fan pool, because I would have stopped rooting for the bills if they signed him. Even though I have been a die hard fan since the early 70's.
  7. We still would be if had him. You really think after sitting out a few years, he will be ready to start as a full time QB in year one back. Maybe next year after he gets a year as scout team QB and relearns, or learns depending on who you ask, to read defenses again, and gets back up to speed of the game.
  8. Im just glad it wasnt the bills that signed him, or a team that would ever watch. This way dont have to watch any games he is at, where they talk about a guy on the bench more than the people in the game.
  9. I thought it was 3 years after graduating high school, or 21 if didnt graduate.
  10. Was thinking Darren Walker then realized the dates talking about, and realize dont even have a good guess other than Olandis Gary.
  11. Think you confusing not having holes to find often with not being able to find them.
  12. He can play in last 2 preseason games, and can practice with team whole time. He said will give him answer no later than week 6, but could give at any time before that if he meets conditions that where provided before that point. Most likely will not be anywhere near the full 6 games, but could be that long. He isnt getting docked any pay while waiting either, so isnt a true suspension.
  13. Had a feeling you where, but couldnt let it go incase werent.
  14. They are all tall recievers that are number ones on thier teams. Hes a short slot reciever, which typically dont catch allot of TD's. Slot recievers should have very high first down percentages, as they are usually on the field mostly on 3rd downs, and when team is behind or in 2 min offense, and other teams is in allot of prevent. Starting recievers play all the plays, and are getting plays to setup 2nd and short or 3rd and short much more frequently. Not allot of teams try and setup 4th and short. Reed is actually Rated as the 8th most effecient WR according to bleacher reports. Not sure how reputable they are. While he isnt a game changer, extending the drive is nothing to sneeze at. I would like to see more snaps for Steve Johnson, expecially in Red Zone, but Reed is an important part of the offense. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/216244-...s/page/0#page/4
  15. I wouldnt go that far. Wes can get off the line in press coverage, and is willing to go over the middle. Havent seen either of those attributes from Roscoe. I do think he is cable of more if given a chance, but lets not compare him to one of the best slot recievers in the league yet.
  16. True, he hasnt proven himself yet, thats why said hope. Plus now he has rib injury which may make him miss a good portion of camp. Was expecting him to share the job with Reed this year, not nessisarily beat him outright, as they have different strenghts. My thought was more that Reed would have less snaps because of him, not nessarily be benched by him.
  17. Didnt he line up with WR's during OTA's, because he needed to learn the passing tree. See they have him playing TE again in camp, but dont remember him lining up in OTA's as a TE much at all.
  18. Hopping Steve Johnson wins the 3rd reciever roll myself. Feel he is a better talent, adds some height, and doesnt fold under pressure like Reed has seemed to when he was a starter. If he wins the 3rd, parrish would be a descent fit for 4th, as they typically dont jam much when in 4 reciever sets, and getting off line when jammed is an issue for him. Doubt they trade Reed, but if Johnson continues to improve, doubt Reed gets on the field near as much as has in past few seasons anyways.
  19. I also used to be a regular on 365, but stopped reading the site because of Anthony Bialy. Conner was insightful and I liked most of the articles he put out, even when didn't agree with him. AB didn't seem to have anything insightful or that would consider worth reading. Glad to see that they finally have somebody else providing articles finally, even though don't really agree with it.
  20. Does Byrd have any chance at contributing this year now is my question. Hearing allot of talk about them expecting him to challenge for starting free saftey position. He missed all of the OTA's due to graduation date, now holding out of camp first few days. If anyone needed every day to get up to speed it was him. Safety's have allot of responsibilities on defense, and is a very mental position. If he misses much more than a few days, have a tough time see him getting off special teams duty this year, besides challenging for starting spot.
  21. Please no. Hasnt played in a few years, wasnt great at reading defences and making the throws even when he had been playing every year. The guy relied on his speed and running skills more than his arm. With the time away and the age factor, odds are good he wont be close to same QB he was. Not that he ever was a pure QB to begin with. May still have running skills, but why take a chance on someone with his character. What kind of message would you send to the rest of team, showing that would sign a convicted criminal mastermind, who conducted in illegal gambling, and lied to not only the owner, but the commissioner about it even after was caught.
  22. Wasnt his playing time that was EGO issue, was the time he was on bench. If you ever spent anytime on the sidelines or the locker room with him, he was the TO of his time, except without the talent.
  23. Fans alway love the 2nd stringers. Amazing how good they can look when they have a different style of play than the person they backup, and the defenses didnt prepare for them.
