  1. Levitre was eager to bolt once a deal wasn't reached before the start of his final season. Most players fall into that category. jw
  2. my opinion is that the Bills should have locked up Levitre well in advance. and my point is, whatever struggles he's having in Tennessee does not in any way reflect on how valuable he was in Buffalo, and still proves to be given the ongoing troubles the Bills have had in their attempt to replace him. he's a good player, and to suggest he's not 5 games into the season with a new team is a reflection of someone attempting to be a homer, i think. jw
  3. and yet Andy proved so valuable in Buffalo, that the BIlls are still scrambling in their search to replace him. jw
  4. Kiko's responsible for making the Incredible Hulk green .... with envy! jw
  5. wait, why not bring back Thigpen? jw
  6. Aaron Schobel did no such thing. Quit trying to change history. That is fully, and completely inaccurate. jw
  7. that bastard wawrow's around, there, too. jw
  8. if i was, i'd have reported it ... jw
  9. getting no word on Brady Quinn. jw
  10. it was through 2 games. it expired as of 6 p.m. today, when he had to be counted against 53. jw can't see Vince Young coming. Tebow, don't think so, i'm hearing.
  11. a good time was had by all. fireworks, included. jw
  12. it's a free world, and I use the word "free" with purpose. fans have the option to spend $25 and spend money on a cash bar at the Statler to hear "the insiders" points of view. fans also have the option to spend however much they want to go to the Swannie and hear others -- the "outsiders" ?? -- provide their points of view. jw
  13. for what it's worth: it's far more easier to be disagreeable in anonymity than it might in real person. those with the intention of not wanting to be civil, you all don't have to come. jw
  14. This is going to be a very informal event, and we'll be happy to take as many questions -- even the same ones over and over -- as you might have. It's something that kind of just came about by mistake, as the announcement says. We don't know how many will turn out, but the more the merrier. And, who knows, this thing might become an annual event -- or not. It's a great little bar, and we've made arrangements to either take over the second floor or the patio. Too bad some (many) of you folks are out of town and won't make it to the B-Lo til the following week. The trouble with Week 1 is we media folks have numerous stories to write and requirements that put a strain on the schedule. This seemed to be the only day that worked, and it's no coincidence that it coincides with the Bills "official" function, which just happens to be charging $25 per person and features a cash bar at the far more upscale Statler. We thought we'd have one that would be a little more, well, blue-collar. And yes, the Swannie is both a dive and a gem. jw
  15. no bushes near the Swannie, just grain mills and rivers ... uh, oh. jw
  16. Folks: A couple of us media types are rounding up for a night of football talk at Ye Olde Swannie House. It's set for Aug. 27, which is this upcoming Tuesday. And it'll start at 8 p.m. There's no cover (unlike a team-sponsored event that night). The drinks are cheap. And so's the atmosphere, which is a good thing. Feel free to show up, ask what you want and have a good time. Linky: http://www.trendingb...-tuesday-night/ jw
  17. had a late night. thought i'd just throw that log on the fire. oddly enough, i'm amused by post's meaning, and lack thereof, given the attention it has stirred from at least one poster's response. i'll leave it be, and remain cryptic. jw
  18. i sit here dumbfounded at the hypocricy (if true of course) jw potential homers.
  19. jeepers, please read before ripping into my credibility. how easy is that to do in kneejerkville these days (and no, i'm not calling you a jerk, just simply over-reactionary). seems like anyone disagreeing with me these days goes off and questions my credibility. god, it's a discussion. i provided an opinion. and i didn't write simply "better." i wrote: "he's no better or worse." sonofa-something. it's nearly impossible to have a discussion these days with some Bills fans who are so far dug in, that they can't see the horizon of perspective, can't we just tap the brakes just a little. jw
  20. your point being? from what i've seen, he's no better or worse than some of the backups the Bills have paraded out during camp. jw
  21. to put it all into perspective, given what i've seen up until now, here is how i rate the qb competion: EJ Manuel has not yet secured the starting job to open the season. he's shown enouraging signs of his potential, but he's been far too inconsistent. Kevin Kolb has been the more polished player in facing the Bills first team defense. he enjoyed his best practice on Aug. 2, a day before he twisted his left knee. And he was teh best qb yesterday in running the offense, essentially picking up from where he left off,. i'll be curious as to how Kolb does in the next two preseason games. as for Tuel: he's continued to lock up his spot as a No. 3. jw
