  1. We are speaking about your team's backup QB situation. The Bills signed Fitzpatrick as a backup. Your team lost Cassel and now has Kevin O'Connell as a backup.

It's time for you and The Senator to stop your tickle-fest, climb out of the backseat of the VW and head back to shop class.

  2. Yes, we know.

What do you mean here, Senator? What is it about Provincetown that you're getting at?

I'm not sure if this is true, or not. You offer no evidence, though. Do you have a leg to stand on, here, or is this your usual bulls#it?

Well, The Dean, it may not be as solid a foothold on fact as, say, "Peter's greatness is his athleticism. He is SUPREMELY talented athletically", but the numbers "estimated" by the Bills themselves are "up to" 10,000. Maybe it's half that--who knows. But, as I said, you can easily see more opposing fans than at our home games, so all this hand wringing about not having Canadians to support the Bills is overblown. These games sell out every week. The secondary market is already filling with tickets above their face value.

BS? Back in the toaster, Dean.

  3. Yea, but it's a symbiotic relationship between the press and T.O - they need each other.

Owens is a highly competitive, superbly competent glory seeking athlete. I have no problem with that- as long as it doesn't adversely affect "team concept". At the same time the press wouldn't be covering him if he was a 3rd string journeyman no matter how flamboyant he may be. I also don't think the press considers whether to report or not report on a negative story on T.O. because it will do him harm- quite the opposite I suspect.

The press doesn't need TO--if he never existed they would be talking about someone else---same as for when he's gone. However, TO absolutely is addicted to publicity (any)--if this was not true, he'd be Marvin Harrison.

"as long as it doesn't adversely affect "team concept""?? Where have you been? When has TOs "glory seeking" NOT adversely affected team concept? Isn't that why he is no longer with either of the last two teams? How is it that you don't get this?

  4. Ah, the alleged "Bills fan" makes an appearance, and manages to make it mostly about the Patriots. What a shock!

This was not a discussion about one team, much less the Patriots. But great job as usual of revealing yourself.

And to answer your question, Ralph has been railing against the bigger market for years. Maybe if you crawled out of your hole, you'd realize that.

Denver is tied for 7th in revenue in the league. That's a big market.

But fine, we'll play your game. Please explain this Brandon Marshall situation and explain how he didn't get a suspension after the cops saw him beating up his fiancee. Remember your words that the cops are to be believed on everything and pleading down to a lesser charge, or having charges dropped, mean nothing. Just this once.

Well, i didn't really expect you to answer, but I thought I'd appeal to your credibility.

I didn't bring up the Pats, nimrod, you did. Allow me to "reveal yourself":

I'd love to hear the explanation. Though something tells me it would be in-line with the BS explanation given to not suspending Wilfork. :wallbash:

The police report says they found two people punching and kicking eachother. Both were arrested (you must have missed that part or conveniently left it out) and charges were dropped THAT DAY. So, what is it you wish to have explained about "this Marshall issue"? I have no reason to doubt this report, so what is your point? Anyway, Marshall is not out of the woods yet--he has a court date pending for another incident. My guess is that the Commish will decide after the outcome of that case is known, so dry your tears for now.

As for how plea bargaining works and why, what don't you understand? Charges are filed, based on the info obtainable in an investigation, the DA offers a charge for which he thinks he can successfully get a conviction. A perp accepts to avoid trial and a possible conviction of a more serious charge. None of this has anything to do with actual guilt, of course--only with what's provable and what is not.

But you knew that, right? Of course you did, because none of these concepts are very difficult. My favorite part is your pathetic, but totally predictable, decision to accept this police report without question.

As for Denver, I guess if you are going to completely redefine the term "market size" as it relates to professional sports (i. e., by "total revenue"), there is good news for Buffalo! It is no longer "one of the smallest markets in the NFL", as it was once known. The smallest markets now include such tiny towns as San Fran, Oakland and Atlanta.

Ralph has certainly been "railing against the big markets", hard to miss that. He's made quite a scene of himself in that regard. But that is about money--he wants to be given more by others. He pretends he can't make ends meet yet the other owners know about his sweet financial situation and ignre his cries about how tough it is for "small markets" to make money.

What I did NOT remember seeing or hearing about was Ralph railing about the cheating of other teams and how they have stolen victories from his Bills---which is the subject of this discussion, sport. In fact I don't recall much railing from the owners who were actually cheated against, either.

So, again, I will try to get you to answer the simple question I posed to you above. I won't hold my breath.

  5. Everyone in the NFL admits T.O. has a good work ethic - he wouldn't do what he's done without one - and that he wants to win. He's played in some big cities, with a lot of media coverage. Intelligent people know what media is all about: they get paid to stir things up. If there's nothing going on, they'll find something.

Really? Is this what "intelligent people" are saying? The media just randomly picked TO and decided to "stir things up"? There was "nothing going on" and they dug real deep and "found something"?

The self promoting TD celebrations, the public criticising of teammates on every team in his career, the "nonsuicide" attempt, the driveway workout press conference, the fact that he was released from 2 teams after signing big contracts---these are creations of "the media"?

Hmmm. I guess "the media" was NOT doing it's job (or "getting paid") when it failed to make a big deal about all of the equally press-worthy things that went on in the lives on and off the field of Elway, Warner, Manning, Fitzgerald, Rice, Harrison........

Look, it's exciting for Bills fans and the team to have an actual top receiver on the roster and we all hope for good things this year, but why do you have to post such nutty stuff in order to excuse his past poor behavior? How can you blame this on "the media"? Can you name a pro athlete how craves more attention from the media and the public than TO?

  6. I find it hard to believe that landlords in Orchard Park or Bob Wozniak would say that they dont want T.O. That would be illegal anyway.

What?? I don't think the law has yet been passed that it is illegal to not rent to T. Owens.

Look, WHO CARES?? Why does this guy feel compelled to share this mundane crap with the world? Such a drama queen. And you guys are just eating this right up.

    Just rent an apartment already.

  7. I hear ya, Lori. But after seeing how many non-Bills fans there are in TO, I'm not sure RW would lose much of his S. Ontario fan base. Fans in that region have been fans for generations in many cases. I guess I'm saying that he would 'gain' far fewer new fans in TO than he would 'lose' in S. Ontario if a team were located in Toronto.

    GO BILLS!!!

The number of canadians coming to Bills games is vastly overstated here. Go to see them play the Steelers or the Browns--there are for more fans from Pittsburgh and Cleveland at our home games than are from canada.

The interest in the Bills in Toronto is miniscule, if the reaction to their "home" game against the Fins is any indication.

  8. I am one who happens to think that we have one of the worst backup QBs in the league. He is a #3 at best, way overpaid and we chased him like Joe Montana in his prime just became a Free Agent. We are in deep dodo if Trent ever gets hurt and we have to rely on "Noodle Arm" for any length of time.

How can our situation be worse than last year at backup QB??

  9. Why would TO want to live in a place where this is the first line in the overview:

I don't know of any evidence that TO should be worried about future "in-laws"....

And what was TO's motivation to "out" (a-hem) these people who chose not to rent him their home?

  10. Not really, as it was totally expected. Goodell talks a good game, but in the end, he's a corporate lackey.

What does it mean to be a "corporate lackey"? You've never explained why you believe Goodell favors guys like Kraft. What would be the benefit to him or his league--doesn't everyone hate the Pats? And you've never explained why all of the other owners, Ralph included, go along with what you discribe as blatant favoritism for a team. Enlighten us. Just this once.

Also, Goodell had nothing to do with the current CBA.

Denver is not a "big market".

  11. Some think we have the worst backup QB in the league. So, I did a simple compare and contrast between Fitz and Carson Palmer, who is generally regarded as one of the best QBs in the league.

In what year was this originally posted?

  12. Not sure they could pay enough to make Ralph shut up, if someone tries to move into a city he's considered part of his territory for decades.

    Are you joking?

He's already accepted a check (form the same gang, no less) for $78 million to willfully yank his team out of Buffalo every year and into a city that really hasn't shown a huge interest in his Bills (unless they are playing the Dolphins, apparently).

I think it is widely understood on the other side that Ralph will accept Canadian currency.

  13. 5' 8" 184lbs is "big"?? Not even in the MLB.

You could make the argument that Johnnie Lee Higgins and Jacoby Jones are at least as good as Roscoe. For punts, the real measure is returns over 20 yards and TDs. The extra 2-3 yards per that Roscoe brings is not meaningful field position. Also, Roscoe didn't have to return too many punts (21) with our crappy D.

    They're all pretty close.
