  1. Kuechley is at his value in the 10 spot and would upgrade the position

Dre Kirkpatrick or Gilmore would be acceptable at 10

Every year it seems there's a trade that changes the board and/or a highly projected player falls...

Im betting either Blackmon or Claiborne fall to 10 (hoping that is)

Shame we don't need a guard because DeCastro looks like a nasty mfer

  2. Doc I heard the same interview, I think you may have misheard what Nix said. Here's what he said in a nutshell:

1- Bell was offered a contract prior to the start of FA. Still haven't heard anything from Bell or his agent and thinks they are probably looking for something else.

2- Said they have to come away with a "top" tackle. (This was a huge tell to me)

3- They think there is "2 to 3 tackles that can come into the league and start right away". (Would indicate a 1st round draft choice IMO)

4- They view some of the OL a little differently than the rest of the league, and think theres guys that can man the tackle position that people arent really aware of (A huge tell that they are very high on Cordy Glenn IMO. Glenn has often been talked baout as a G prospect, but I've seen plenty of chatter that he could stay at LT in the NFL).

I actually thought the interview with Nix on Sirius was so telling I thought about making a seperate post about it entirely.

    Cordy Glenn....interesting

-Nix/Chan have been known to telegraph their picks

-Nix/Chan have been known to like players out of the south

-They have been known to like 3-4 year starters (CG Ranks tied first all-time at UGA in career starts by an offensive lineman with 50 - 17 at LT)

-Was a monster at the combine

    Is he worth the #10?

  3. That would be so strong of a move...This offseason would be a huge statement:

AFC East - you're all fukng warned!

Kuechley - Barnett - Merriman (I know...It just looks better with his name here)

    Williams - Williams - Dareus - Anderson

  4. Tebow would fit in perfectly in NYC, just another crazy person walking up and down the streets singing to himself.

Yeah, what ever would a guy that looks like he does, is as popular as he is ever do in a city that has swarms of gorgeous women and the best nightlife in the world???

He should totally stay away...maybe move to Buffalo.

  5. What beating is that? We did give up the fewest sacks in the league. His rib injury occurred on a single hit. It wasn't like it was an accumulated thing.

So sacks are the only hits a QB takes? If he didn't have a quick release, he may have been dead based on some of the non-sack hits he took last year.

  6. Ok but how is he better. Your making statements but you don't have anything to back it up. Is it his completion percentage? His career rating? His one career game with a completion percentage over 52% last year? In our pass first offense how is he better than Tyler?

So stats make a complete argument? No intangibles, like winning. took a 4 win team and doubled the total, won a playoff game. If it has to be stats: I would think he and thigpen have about the same amount of games played career...and are similar in numbers. the stats aren't good for either .....but neither are Fitz's and people seem to think hes a top 10 qb around here.

I would say in terms of potential upside, for the BACKUP, it's no match. I would like to see him in a Gailey-run system. I think that would be his best shot as a pro....and we have that opportunity....on the cheap.

  7. How does he upgrade the team? I'm not trying to argue with you I'm just trying to understand your reasoning

He's better than our #2 and does what our #3 does MUCh better.

Doesn't that qualify as an improvement? We have the coaches/offensive minds that can handle game planning his going in for Fitz, that should not be a detracting argument.

  8. That "horrible pro QB" would upgrade the position here. that says a lot.

If it were anyone that can help this team, its reasonable, and the price is right, I would do it.

Has nothing to do with the media attention we want/don't want depending on which whining exercise we are engaged in. It's about improving the team.

  9. And our 6-10 team last year embarrassed Tebow, who then followed up that joke of a performance with anothe brain bleedingly bad spectacle against the Chiefs. A Chiefs team our supposedly awful QB torched. So what does that say about the chosen one?

Not sure where your point is...it's like the haters keep forcing this argument as if I am saying to change our entire offense and start the kid....

he's the best possible backup available right now, and cheap. A great would-be addition to this team.

But since you have to have a masturbatory debate....

I sure as sh-t wasn't watching the Bills/Fitz beat Pitt in the playoffs last year. That one win would put him squarely behind Barnett at the top of the list of playoff experience on our roster.

  10. so how is trading for a TE/H-back going to address this supposed "lack of QB depth"?

    Wow...haven't seen that joke yet.

My apologies...we're smokin hot at QB man....no improvement needed there. You see....we added Mario Williams.....just lay back and let the Lombardi's rolll.....

news flash: by many people's estimations, our starting QB sucks and sucked most of last year. Bottom rung. We have no help behind and no developmental project.

You keep cracking H-back jokes though. Oh...and we were 6-10 last year.

  11. Tebow does NOT add ANY depth to the QB position. None.

And this has nothing to do with his "abilities". It has to do with the fact that he will not be able to run the Bills' offense as it's currently constructed. Backup QBs need to be ready to play (cold) at the drop of a hat. Tebow is not able to run the Bills offense which makes him completely worthless as a backup.

If they brought Tebow in they would have to redesign the offense to make it easier for him (as they had to do in Denver) ... and you just don't do that for a backup QB.

6 teams reportedly called Denver today...6 teams that, by your estimation, have to redesign everything.

I'm going to go with that as a strong indicator that you may be mistaken in your assessment.

  12. Well, that just proves it, QB's need no time to adjust to the NFl game and are expected to now be Pro Bowlers in their rookie years. Sorry Aaron Rogers, you suck now, should have been a starter since day one of being drafted

LOL....and every QB is the same....so you can throw out all of the other things specific to each......where do they register on the CAM-O-METER?

  13. Yes, because our offense is so strong and stacked with weapons that we can afford to pass. Fitzpatrick is 100% a sure thing and completely guaranteed to not get hurt. Tyler Thigpen is a backup QB you can totally count on and develop. And Brad Smith is better than Tebow at running an offense in special situations.

Listen, I find the Tebow fanatics ridiculous. Dealing with them would suck. But the nfl.com article brings up some really good points. He's a good fit and could be had cheap; most likely the 4th we got for Lee and picking up a rookie contract with the signing bonus already paid. I would be very shocked if a team signs him to be their starter. I don't think it's going to happen.

The role that Tim Tebow is most likely to play is a role that Buffalo is looking to fill. A developmental project. And one that gets on the field in special packages.

We sign Mario and all of a sudden, everyone's on their high horse. The revenue to the Bills and surrounding areas alone would be worth taking a shot.

    THIS^^^^

  14. And your proof of that is what? 14 games at the NFL level with a 8-6 record to boot. So your slaming peoples "opinion" for Fitz and putting forth an "opinion" of your own. TT hasn't played nearly enough games for someone to make a statement like that.

14 games and a winning record + a playoff win?

If that were Fitz, there would be threads all over this board about "elite" status. All relative man. I have seen enough arguments that fitz never had the starting position from camp, that he had broken ribs, that he doesn't have receivers, no o-line etc etc. I am NOT hating on the guy but what has he done to have the entire season placed on his shoulders with no insurance policy?

My opinion is that Tebow has shown me enough to be worth a 5th rounder, low money and a backup spot. Especially when we have dog poo behind fitz.

  15. Tim Tebow posted 1 game last year above 52% completion percentage. http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/13200/tim-tebow In an offense that requires the QB to think quickly, throw accurately into tight windows you want this guy?

In his last 5 games he was 49/120 with 3 TDs to 4 INTs including a 6 for 22 performance against the chiefs. Teams figured him out. Including the patriots, twice and a 1-4 record.

    Understood, BUT

We have a starting QB that is not a proven winner. Sorry to break that to you. 75% of this board seems to think he is playoff-caliber....with absolutely no basis other than a hot start last year. Our existing backup sucks. This guy (Tebow) has a penchant to pull games out and thrives off pressure. I'll take that guy in my bullpen any day. Why shouldn't your unproven starter that has shown more downside than upside worry about his starting job if he's not performing? There are 32 of those jobs in existence. Everyone agrees our staff is experienced with QB development and tailoring offenses to capture skill sets, they should have a field day using TT in special situations. TT is no more predictable than Brad Smith and will not cost as much. Strictly looking at him as a backup with many other benefits, you make this move. We are a better team as a result.

  16. If Fitz is going to be as good as everyone has seemed to pencil him in to be, he shouldn't have to worry about who's behind him. It's a big boy's game.

The question is: are we a better team with Tebow in a backup/slash/gadget role?

    Unquestionably, yes.

    Tebow > Brad Smith

    Tebow > PigPen

If Fitzmagic is in effect this year, and I hope it is, we all win. If not, we have a very exciting playmaking backup to fill the gap until the next franchise QB.
