  1. Without a Playoff the all College Bowl games except for the National Championship are essentially glorified exhibition games. Now with the NHL Winter Classic on New Years Day I have no reason to care about any other sporting event on New Years Day (Unless NFL Football is on). This years game was a 2-1 Overtime thriller at Fenway Park and I have to say that I now associate New Years Day with hockey.

I know College Football is the tradition BUT they don't play that many bowl games on New Years Day anymore and they don't play the National title game on Jan 1st either. So does anyone else feel that Hockey is now the New Years day sporting event? And did anyone else watch the game Today?

Yep...would NOT have missed it. I've been a hockey addict since 93. The first

game @ your place set the standards!!! The Winter Classic has now been a

part of my New Years day for the 3rd year. I did look into the PSU/LSU game

to see how Lori's OTHER team was doing. The condition of the field was a

major advantage to the PSU team.

  2. Best post of 2010 to date.

Even though it is heart wrenching torture to cheer for this team most of the time....nearly all it...the good still outweighs the bad. It also keeps you connected with the community if you have moved away and creating newbie fans hopefully, in some way, helps keeps the Bills always in BUFFALO. I can not even fathom my reaction if my two boys did not decide to root for the Bills.....One of those things that my mind just cannot even comprehend; no matter where we live or how bad they stink...it always has to be GO BILLS

This is ALSO the way I felt during the days that MY Dallas Mavericks were sooo

bad and also the lack of success of MY Texas Rangers. They both are MY teams

and I will always be their fan. I am sooo old that I can remember not having

either team. Trust me...having a BAD team is better than NO team!!!

  3. I think its great. They take too long with the pre-game, for me anyways. I wish they would spend less time talking about how great being outdoors is. Seems to be overdone. Bringing back the classic players is a a good thing. Seeing Bobby Orr and Bobby Clarke (with teeth) shows off the games legacy.

They should (and will) keep the tradition going. What the promoters should do is highlight that this game counts. Football on New Years Day has gone downhill since the BCS moved many feature games away from New Years Day, and the games left are down a notch. The Winter Classic can fill a void in NYD sports. Just don't compete directly with the Rose Bowl.

Also, get better announcers. Hire Ric Jeanneret for a day, and throw in Don Cherry.

It was nice to see such good looking teeth. It is hope that current players will look well

in their " older " years. It was good that the Bruins did win in OT allowing us Rose

Bowl fans to catch the start of the game.

Don Cherry would be a nice throw in. Can you imagine the suit he would wear

for the game...or would it be so cold his top coat would cover it up!!!

  4. it's just that if i am drunk singing in a stadium, the only song i want it to be is SHOUT!

Yes..there is NOTHING like the Shout Song. It was fun to hear the crowd doing

their version of "Let's go Bruins Let's go Flyers" !!! Such copycats!! YOU GUYS

    are pros in that department!!

There will NEVER be anything that will top the first game!!! It was an all time classic.

I hope some day it will be held there again because I could appreciate it even more

now that I am a SMALL part of the Buffalo Nation.

  5. I sometimes feel that I passed down a anchor of being attached to a bad team also, but then I think of all the great times we have had the past few years despite the losing seasons. At least at the early ages; its not all about winning. Some higlights of this past year..

    * HOF ceremony - we lucked out and got front row seats. We sat in the Bills employee section next to Phil Hansen

    * Bills home game - Unfortunately it was the Browns game. But we had a blast played touch football and went to Pinto's

My son took a picture of Ron covered in mustard/mayo/ketchup to school the next day

    * Carolina game - tailgated in the Buffalo lot. Again with Pinto and his crew, we impressed our Carolina friends!

    * Recruiting - He has two friends that are now Bills fans, the day after the Pats Monday Night game I picked them up at

school and they were all wearing their jerseys with heads high

    * Jets game - the OT game... you would have thought we won the super bowl

    * vacation game - we were in FlA for Thanksgiving found a sports bar and blasted the Shout song on our ipod player after

every score. The average age in the bar was about 80 but we had the folks rocking!

Yea -- the bills have really sucked this year... but the memories arent that bad!

Yes.. I will agree even as a ""Cowgirlsfan""!! I am on my 2nd year of being a SMALL part of Bills Nation by

my football friendship with the Aussiew. I even taped the HOF ceremony AND the HOF game. I attended my

first road game in Carolina . I was the FAMOUS one in the Buffalo lot with the road Romo jersey!!. The memories

DO make a difference!!! I am already looking forward to next years road game. Have any one of you guys

ever listened to Sporting News Radio? David Stein has a show " A Celebration of Life Through Sports? It is an

excellent show that features call ins who share their stories how sports impact their lives. The stories match and

compare to the many memories/raising Bills.

  6. not saying Brohm is Aikman but he didn't look rattled even though he was behind a high school line. ball came out fast and the long passes missed could be corrected with time spent with receivers. Id like to see the Kid get a chance with proper teaching. Then we can concentrate on other needs in the draft. I know some had said M. Vick would be good here I only agree if Dungy follows and I don't see that happening. It would have been nice to see if Brohm could handle the buffalo weather but we were concentrated on winning. I just wanted to see if anyone else thinks like i do?

Aikman's first year was rough. I still can see him being sacked play after play. At least Brohm stayed

upwright for most of the game. I TOO see the need for proper QB teaching. Sure wished Turner Gill

could have been hired as a QB'S coach. Louisville does have some weather, but I agree it is NOT

Buffalo. There are no "" lake effects"" in Kentucky.

  7. I just watched most of the Hawaii Bowl - man that kid can ball. Currently a true freshman, Kyle Padron has one hell of an NFL future ahead of him. Great movement in the pocket, great accuracy, great touch, great mechanics/footwrk quick reads and strong arm. Has NFL size too. If he were a senior/ draft eligible Id want him with our 1st pick. If the Bills are still looking for a QB when he does enter the draft (please kill me) then they need to target this kid.

I agree. He did do well. I was real proud of the kid. He made the DFW metroplex proud.

It was nice to see the team do well. I will admit that each time his name was said I

thought of that HIGH CLASS tequila. LOL LOL

  8. Got a new Bills sweatshirt from my brother. And that was about it. A light year. Did get a kick @ss Sabres 3rd jersey from the wife and kids, which was Awesome!!!! How did everyone else fair?

No...no new Bills stuff....but a new Romo road jersey of my own ( no more borrowing my son's ) to

wear next year to the Bills Backers road game with the famous Aussiew.

  9. BTW, Byrd said that he's been playing at around 70% all season long. Can't wait to see him at 100% with a full off-season, training camp, and pre-season.

    Me TOO!! So....9 picks @ 70%....how many more @ 100%?

This is my 2nd year being a small part of BILLS NATION and he was

the one player I looked forward to watching each week.

I am dissapointed that I won't get to watch him for the last 2

games. I ALWAYS did the BIRD each time he made a pick.

  10. I haven't been able to migrate over to the diet sodas. My first experience with Tab may have ruined me for life....but I'll give the diet Dr Pepper a try.

Try Diet cherry 7up Antioxidant. It is good over the rocks or mixed with other liquids. I use it

in vanilla vodka as a mixer. It sure beats regular 7 @ 30 grams of Sugar!!!

I also use Ocean Spray Diet Cranberry Grape and Diet Cranberry Pomgegranate. It TOO is low

    in sugar @ 2g

    Yep....that TAB was brutal!!!

  11. Right now it's a dry, bone-chillin' Cold! 18 F (11:30 PM Sat Eve)

No snow falling - A trace on the ground

The ground is frozen. The field will be 'hard' tomorrow. Could see some slipping and slidding.

Looking out my porch toward the stadium I can see the lights clearly.

    Expect 24- 30 F at game time.

    Low wind 5-10

    Might even see the Sun!

My call- weather will not be a factor.

    Great day for football!

    Caz Parker

Rats!!!! I wanted it snowing for the famous Aussiew to view from her chair at the local Bills Bar!!!

  12.

I am very proud of him. I still think he would've been a great mentor to

current and future Bills QB'S. He is from my birthplace Fort Worth,Texas.

A great QB for the local high school Arlington Heights. Glad to see him

drift south for a new coaching job so I can see his team play more often.

His Nebraska team was featured in the current ESPN piece The U with

    him as their QB.

  13. In my younger days I would just go to a bar to watch the game. Not an option now with a seven-year-old son who is a rabid Bills/Sabres fan, although I might sneak out after halftime when he should be in bed.

Best solution would be to run the Sabres on the TV and the Bills on the internet. Will justin.tv or whatever have the game tonight?

Remember...there is always 97 Rock on the net!! I used them for your home opener rather than Yahoo Game Channel.

It was GREAT to hear the crowd AND everyone singing the ""SHOUT SONG"".

  14. As much as I hate to say, I'd say start Trent. I know Fitz pulled us out in NY and Carolina, but for large parts of those games he didn't look good. He looked horrible against Houston. No first downs in the 2nd half until 3:00 to go. Garbage time. He looked horrible. He's so inaccurate. I wonder how a guy can be that inaccurate and play in the NFL for 5 years. Baffles me. But really I'd rather see Hamdan.

Some on here in the past have said they wish they could put JP's arm and Trent's mind together. I have a better idea. Put Trent's arm with Fitz' brain.

    Go Trent !!

    Go BILLS !!

Yep...use them BOTH.....and sprinkle in some WILD CAT!! Who knows what success could be made in the time it takes for the Titan's defense to make adjustments to Trent and Fitz!!

  15. Watching the game last nite and saw the terrible towel flying all over the end zones and lower seats. Are they transplants or do they travel to all the games. Great fans!

Yep it was rather amazing even to me. It was just like the Carolina game that I attended with Aussiew. Every time the Bills made plays Bills Nation would go nuts just like Steeler fans did last night. The sound on the TV of the Steeler fans in the stands was off the chart and I don't have a plasma or HD TV!!! I bet the Steeler fans had just as much FUN leaving Invesco Field as us Bills fans did walking down the long winding ramps at the B of A singing ""Lets Go Buffalo""!!!
