  1. Hey all,

As you might know from the official happy bday thread, it's my 21st today. Seeing as it's finals week here at Cornell, I'm waiting until the weekend to hit the bars...but I have to fulfill my obligation for buying alcohol on my birthday, so I'm looking to patronize one of the great local vineyards around here.

Problem is, as much as I enjoy wine, I know nothing about.

Is anybody willing to provide helpful suggestions?

No wine suggestions here BUT now that you are 21 maybe Brewery Ommegang in

Cooperstown might be an interesting day trip. Google says their # is 607-544-1806.

  2. I know he refused to leave the game and pitched into the 7th inning...but cannot find the video. Anyone?

Why don't you call the Texas Rangers in Arlington Texas? Their number is 817-273-5100.

That number belongs to their ticket office but they can forward you the proper person.

Or....since Bo Jackson did play for the Kansas City Royals maybe call them. Their number is 816-921-8000. I

hope that is correct. I got it out of one of my Rangers programs of the 2008 Season.

  3. I've said it a couple of times before, and I'll say it a few more times. Good friggin' luck at prying San Antonio loose from Jerry Jones. San Antonio is to Dallas as Rochester is to Buffalo. It's Jones' back yard, and I seriously doubt the NFL is going to take him on. It's not that I think he's omnipotent, but, man, I tell ya...come 4:00 and time to switch to the late game on Fox, let me give you a hint what team has the slot....

I will agree with your comparison. San Antonio has supported the Cowboys for many years.

It is where the Cowboys hold their training camp each year. I don't think the NFL will ever

have another team in the state of Texas. I will agree on the 4:00 time but during those years

the team went 5-11 a few times it played many 1:00 games.

  4. The number one complaint about well done sirloin, "This steak is tough." Well no ****.

Yep...they are tough and it is because the restraunat picked the WORST cut of meat since it was ordered WELL DONE!!

  5. If memory serves, he was acquired in the supplementary draft (does that still exist?). He certainly had question marks. I believe he was booted off UVA's team at some point

There were very high hopes for him based on his play in '06, but again if I recall, he was injured early in '07. He was accused of some crime, which turned out to be a false accusation. I've not heard anything about his parting of the ways with CIN.

I'm glad to hear he's doing well.

    "Purify"... Good one!

He's a fair talent, especially on ST. But evidently a head case...which was known. I can't see him surviving the CIN cuts - they have 10 wrs on their roster at the moment.

Good point. He hasn't survived a whole season in years and it is very doubtfull that he will still be

with the team by the regular season game on the 21st of November.

Speaking of numbers and counts.........An Early Happy 136th Kentucky Derby Day!!!

  7. When I went down in the spring of 2004, I drove, I think it was about 6 hours from Syracuse. Stayed in the Inner Harbor area, I don't remember which hotel, but it was only a block or two away which made it cheaper than being right on the water, and there was a parking garage across the street. So once I got there, I never needed my truck the rest of the weekend, I just walked every where.

My son was in Baltimore last December and stayed in the Inner Habor area. The Inner Harbor still is very walk

friendly and the area has many forms of transportation.

  8. I do one a year and try not to repeat.

    Week 2 @ Packers

    Week 3 @ Pats*

    Week 7 @ Ravens

    Week 8 @ Chiefs (Halloween)

    Week 11 @ Bengals

    Week 13 @ Vikings

    Week 15 @ fish

    Week 17 @ Jets

Been to games in Cinci, NY & Miami so they're out. The Halloween game is out - I do have kids. I've been to a game in Minnesota, but it was a Super Bowl. Mid-November in Minny ain't really floating my boat.

So it's down to one of the first 3. I'd love to do Green Bay, it's their home opener and tickets already look wicked expensive. I don't have much desire to go to New England until we start beating them again. So I'm leaning slightly to Baltimore, which will feature many of my good TBD friends.

    thoughts?

The date for the Baltimore game nearly matches the one for the Charlotte game of last year. It was well

supported and everyone had a great time.

  9. Just got my citation in the mail. For a 87 in a 65 (lucky for me I braked heavily before he popped me) the fine is $332. I have no clue if that's high or low compared to other places. Anybody here get a similar ticket and what did you pay.

    And no I wasn't high.

    A comparison. I have a pending ticket for a U turn in a residential area @ $ 235.00. My U turn resulted in

damage to both cars. I went to make arrangements for payment and the citation was not in their system.
