  1. Honestly at this point, I wouldn't mind if they went somewhere other than QB with their first round pick. If you buy that it'll take 3 years to be relevant, why not address either line with an elite player that can step in and start day 1. Barkley looks better to me than any of the QBs that will be draft elligble this year, and he can't come out until 2012.'s draft.

  2. Last week the Bills were 5.5 pt underdogs, in a line that I thought was ridiculously easy money for the Jets better.

This week we're 1.5 pt dogs at home against the Jaguars. At one point we were even money, but that seemed too generous. I think they'll rush all over us, and even though they're near the back of the pack in passing defense, I don't see where we have the weapons to exploit. I think it's a close game, within 3 either way. I'd stay away.

I'll take Green Bay -3 vs. the Redskins.

  3. Look at his numbers last year as a starter for half the season on the Cowboys. Now tell me what his numbers would have looked like on the Bills last year. He would easily be our 6th receiver behind Evans, Johnson, Hardy, Roscoe (yes Roscoe) and Easley.

As the 4th option in the receiving corp (Austin, Witten and Roy Williams) he out performed everyone on the Bills last year not named TO. Patrick Crayton would start on this team.

  4. Silver asks a good question. Bryant's version is on the record. Ireland's isn't. Why?

Then again, Jim Trotter counters with the equally valid point: Bryant was on the record about his relationship with Deion, too, and that turned out not to be true.

Whole bunch of he said-he said here, and right now, I'm not sure I believe EITHER story.

If I were Dez Bryant, entering the NFL with the "diva" tag after having been suspended at the college level, I'd want to fly as far under the radar as possible in my rookie season. I would not be looking to add any new targets to myself. It says something to me that he's this outspoken.

  5. And what do you think about the equally big issue...that the Dolphins, after the apology, leaked the "context" of the interview to make their position more defensible?

    I guess I'm not following:

Do I think that it was wrong for the Dolphins to leak this? No worse that Dez leaking the question originally.

Do I think that the Dolphins are trying to save face? Possibly. I invision a scenario where Jeff was told by the NFL or by the Dolphins to issue his apology. He did what he was told, issued the apology and moved on. His co-workers thought he got the shaft, and came out to support him.

Do I think that it's possible that Dez Bryant is now lieing to save face. Possibly. He did lie to the NCAA in an attempt to save himself.

  6. PFT has been covering this all day. According to Dez Bryant, it did not go down like this at all.

This is the Dolphins trying to save face. The funny thing is that if it went down like this, why did Ireland apologize rather than put out this version of events then.

We'll never know, unless Richard Nixon had hidden recorders in Miami as well. Personally I think the truth lies closer to what the Dolphins are saying than what Dez is saying, but that's based on nothing but a gut feeling.

  7. This part of the article is what puts it into perspective. It was unecessary, tasteless and irrelevant.

"This kid may have led the league in [pre-draft] visits," one GM said of Bryant. "He was pounded by clubs. But I haven't heard about anybody else asking the type of question about the mother that the Dolphins did, so that tells you that no one else felt comfortable about going that road. You hear about all types of crazy questions being asked, but this is really the first time where there was something as insensitive as this. I'm sure Jeff wasn't the only one in the room. I wish somebody else had said, 'You know what? We don't need to go there.' "

I have a feeling that the GM quoted above said that without knowing the context of the question.

  8. At least what I have heard/read is most scouts don't think he's fast enough or has the acceleration to have sucess like that at the NFL level. Very good college player who could be a backup in the NFL.

As I said in the other thread... he looks fast to me on the highlight reel, but I don't know that that will translate to the next level when tackles are bigger, faster and stronger. I wasn't impressed with his moves, as he pretty much just rushed around the outside and took advantage of tackles poor footwork. I hope I'm just being a "glass is half empty" guy, and I hope he proves me wrong.

  9. i don't know if anyone has ever heard of this guy but he was one of our undrafted free agent signings. if you have never heard of this guy go ontohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUyj73qqOgU and watch video of this guy. i don't know how he went undrafted cause he is a beast but i'm glad that we picked him up. he led the sec in tackles for losses and sacks

    Discussed in another thread.

  10. That is true to a degree.

From what I have seen of Spiller which consist of 3 games he played his Sr year.

The impressive part of his game seems to be his ability to read the gaps and blocks.

He always seem to make the right read. I didn't know he had sub 4.4 speed at the time.

When you have speed your blockers don't have to hold the block as long so I agree with Nix.

This is also true with the QB. I remember when we started Rob Johnson everyone screamed the O line sucked.

When Rob got hurt and Flutie came in suddenly the O line was no longer an issue.

Our O line will seem much better when we get quality decisive quarterbacking.

I don't think that having a fast 40 time is really important to lineman holding blocks. The key is the ability to read the block, make a decision and hit the hole. You can be the fastest guy in the league, but if you juke back and forth in the backfield too much, you'll never get to utilize your speed. Fast 40 times are good for breaking away from the safety on a TD run, or getting around the corner.

  11. Tell ya what, I'm gonna keep my name, still be a Bills fan and just ignore everything you said. How's that sound?

As I said my response was a simple joke, just a different twist on the situation since the subject has already been discussed at length.

So thanks for the advice, but ummmmm, no

    Alright now, bye bye then,

    Take care

Looks like we missed the boat on Andrew Tyshovnytsky, OG/OT. I guess he signed with Indy.

  12. Ok, so me and the woman always joke about NFL players with weird and funny names. Captain Munerllan, Bubba Franks etc..

Recently, we noticed many players have names that sound hilariously like other players. How many can you think of? Just have some fun, its the offseason..

    Anquan Boldin - Antuan Molden

    Dallas Clark - Darryl Clark

    Chris Cooley - Chris Kluwe

thats all I have so far..

I guess your definition of "hillarious" is different than mine... but I'll bite.

Roy Willaims - the other Roy Williams - or the other other Roy Williams

HAHAHAHHAHAAHHAAHAH!!!!! - I guess you're right. This is hillarious!

  13. Why would you say that? He has never been involved in off the field issues. What are you making that judgement on? Sounds like you are stereotyping him based on his race. If your racist take your racist crap somewhere else.

Most ignorant comment I have seen this week.

No way does David Carr belong that early in the list. He at least had an NFL career.

  14. The question was phrased in such a way that Jeff Ireland not only issued a statement through the Dolphins, but he called Dez Bryant to personally apologize (albeit, after the story came out).

If his apology was out of personal remorse, he wouldn't have waited until after the story broke to make the call. He apologized because of pressure from the media and probably from the organization.
