  1. Every indication is that given the oppurtunity, he will be a solid NFL WR.

One stat from last year that I really liked of his: Of his 10 catches 9 were for first downs or TDs. That percentage led the league last year for recievers with more than 4 receptions.

Granted that it's a very small sample size, but with average only 10 yards per reception and haveing 90% go for first downs, it tells me he has the ability to know where he is on the field and get the first down. I get so sick of seeing recievers catch the ball one yard short.

  2. If it is photoshopped, they did a hell of a job with the glare on the nameplate up top. Has anybody pondered the possibility that the Jersey was placed there specifically for the benefit of the media and some publicity?

Could somebody have just gone to an NFL website and customized a jersey to say OWENS in the name with an 81 number... then used that photo as the basis for this hoax?... I bet I could come up with something comparable in less than 15 minutes

Why would the Bills put out this photo, while still trying to sell Owens #1 jersey's on their website. If the Bills are smart, they'd encourage Hardy not to swap numbers, so that people go out and buy new jersies rather than putting Duct® tape over their old ones... ala (Rob Johnson->Bledsoe->Parrish).

  3. Now you're just greedy.

No matter what kind of numbers TO puts up, he needs to be gone in 2010. If he puts up 1,500 yards this year... good for him and I hope he gets paid by someone else. Trent will then have enough confidence to know that he's capable of being a winner in this league and we should go after a more team-friendly long term solution if Hardy and/or Jackson hasn't proven worthy of a number 2 spot.

  4.

    Exactly how I feel.

My only problem is if he implodes and how that effects next season and

more importantly, the ramifications to the franchise for years to come.

I don't think he can personally hurt our team's future any more than an 3-13 season would... being that it's only a one year contract. The key to me is letting him go next season, realizing that we had TO on his best behavior for one season. Expecting anything more is just getting greedy, and it hasn't paid off for any team.

Hopefully he'll be able to mentor Hardy for one season with special emphasis on route running and training for the season.

  5. I'll preface this by saying that I cannot stand TO on a personal level.

That said, I think this is a very good deal for Buffalo.

    1) Even at his diminished level, his skills for 6.5 million is a bargain.

    2) This provides us with a legitimate guage to judge is Trent Edwards is capable of being our future.

    3) It's a one year deal... You don't marry the stripper (even though he'll be capable of showing us love for one season)

    4) It makes Buffalo relevant again. When was the last time you can think of the national media talking about us? This will help with future FA signings.

    5) It addresses a significant need, and allows us to draft a DE in the first round.

  6. So not knowing who Jason Babin was exactly, I googled him. His Wikipedia page I found to be interesting.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Babin

If you scroll down to the bottom, it says that he signed with the Bills March 6, 2008, which is clearly untrue. It says he signed a 3 year contract worth 12 million dollars. So I am assuming that it must be a typo because listed right before it is his time in KC. Because the news of him visiting just came out, I am assuming the poster on Wiki must have some kind of inside knowledge to have this up before the news of him visiting was even released. I will be itnerested to see if he signs, specifically for 3yrs/12 mill - anyone is better than Copelan Bryan

The same wikipedia that said that Coles was a member of the Buffalo Bills... I think I'll hold my breath.

  7. Do you really think those are viable options????? The boat fuggin capsized. What good would a covered hatch on the bottom of the boat that opened to a sort of padded bed that has a heater for the padding and several gallons of fresh water that can be sucked out through a straw and a little closed cabinet with some food stored away do????

What would they do. Swim underneath the boat & pry the hatch open under water get in & not let any water in?

I think he meant that the hatch would open from the bottom of the boat... so that when it capsized it would now be above water. It really doesn't seem like that crazy of an idea. Another option would be an inflatable raft. Build a system into a boat that when sensors realize that the boat is upside down, triggers release an inflatable raft.

  8. The list above just goes to show you how dumb it would have been to sign Coles to a $25 mill contract.

You can have your pick of veteran WR's, probably to be signed for a modest two-year deal, and who will be expected to come in and basically keep defenses honest. There are probably ten guys on that list who can do that.

Demetrius Williams... End of Discussion. He'll play hard while he's on the field, and allow Jackson to start the secon half of the season due to injury.

  9. I think it's safe to say that we will not win the AFC East this season, no matter what we do between now and kickoff of Game 1.

I'm sure it sounds pesimistic, but it's also reality. As of this moment in time, we are outmatched in talent by Patriots and Jets, and I don't think there is room for debate.

In my opinion, the best that we can do right now is to solidify both our offensive and defensive lines. If we can establish a running game, it will open up oppurtunities for our passing game. We need to be able to keep our offense on the field longer, so that our defense isn't breaking down late in games.

I'm confident that with a solid pass rush, our defense can be much better than the we were last year... and we weren't terrible last season (14th, if I'm not mistaken). If we're going to contend for a playoff spot this year, it's going to be by out grinding teams...not by out shooting them. We've got two very talented young running backs, lets use them.

  10. Let's see what's been covered:

    mandatory CFL reference.. check

    mandatory street cleaning reference.. check

    mandatory fast food reference.... NOPE

can't you guys think of anything different? in any thread where jp losman is mentioned, you're guaranteed to have all 3 of the above.

    EDIT:

He has a tryout with the Toronto Argos. With his lumberjack good looks and love for the environment, he could become the next Canadian Idol... His fall back plan is as doughnut dropper for a Tim Hortons concession stand for the Columbus Destroyers .

  11. I don't think Boldin is the drama queen that he's made out to be. On the field he's everything that you can ask for... tough, gets YAC, etc. That said... that's a price tag that we'll never be able meet.

Edwards - He might be a Buy Low, Sell High situation now. He's much better than he played last season. I'm not sure what they're asking for him.. but you're not likely to find his kind of talent in the 4th round or later in the draft.

Toomer and or Harrison - Depending on the price tag, they're nothing more than a one year bridge to Hardy and Jackson becoming the number 2.

Reggie Williams - Just got arrested for DWI and pot, if I'm not mistaken.

Demetrius Williams - I've seen him play a couple times, and I really like him. The problem is that he's always injurred.

  12. For people who say he's being paid too much, note that money isn't an issue with the Bills and that they're way under the cap. Since the Bengals are too, it's an irrelevant issue for them as well. I'm surprised people here have a problem with spending a plutocrat's money to improve the team. I wasn't a huge proponent of signing Coles, but he's better than what we have. Maybe some other option will come through. Given the circumstances, though, he was probably the best option. I fear that Toomer is simply too slow at this point.

The Cap is not the only issue. The Bills only made 12 million in profit last year from what I understand. Throw in an economic decline, and they're likely to be looking at narrower numbers this year.

  13. Too much money... and too long of a contract. I can't say I'm happy that Buffalo didn't get him, but I'm happy they didn't get him at that price.

Onward and upward. Use that money to solidfy the OL. A productive running game will make Edwards a better QB, and Evans, Reed, Jackson better recievers, the same way a high quality DE will make our secondary better on the other side of the ball.
