In what season, thus far, has he failed to do so?

Correct. Check out our man E-Turner breaking it down: http://www.cover1.net/2016/02/20161212015-bills-defensive-study-defensive-line/ -
The Bills Won Today because You....

If you get in the stadium 45 min or so before kickoff, and go to the outer-concourse restrooms, the stalls are actually quite clean. I'm not saying that it's an altogether pleasant experience, but a man's gotta do, ya know? -

Rex's scheme isn't a 2-gap scheme primarily; it's a heavy mix of multiple responsibilities up front. That's what I meant. And IMO, lack of length is the biggest issue for Kyle when he's asked to 2-gap. -

Dropped a deuce inside a stadium bathroom prior to kickoff. I'm 4-0 in day games lifetime when I do this; 0-2 in night games. -

Lower Bowl - Security Asked Us to Sit Down

I hear ya, but in the end the sitters can say the same thing: if you want to stand, stand in your living room where you aren't blocking the view of a paying customer. -
Lower Bowl - Security Asked Us to Sit Down

In the upper bowl, sitting is simply the way of life. I'm fine either way, but many people get upset with standing during the game. In my section, there are many folks in their 50s and 60s that really don't want to stand all game, so I get it. -
It's actually the EXACT throw I wanted there: take a deep shot to Goodwin. It's a fast, easy read that virtually assures that the ball comes out quickly, which means only 4 things can happen: 1) deep completion 2) incompletion & punt 3) interception (same as a punt) 4) DPI The interesting question is whether or not Peterson should've caught it...

Kyle Williams is clearly a bad fit for Rex D...

If you've seen Rex's playbook, it's largely split between single and 2-gap responsibility for the DL. I agreed that coaching was the primary reason for the drop off in sacks. Let's not conflate points here. It's also worh noting that they mixed things up from the get go; the very first 3rd down of the game was a 5-man pressure package. The point I've always made is that Kyle isn't a poor fit for Rex's D; he's a poor fit for certain roles in Rex's D. As the 3T (or simply the "T" in Rex's playbook), he's an ideal fit. -
John Miller Best OLmen on the field yesterday Indeed, and no shock to you I'm sure. Miller was always a guy that was country strong, but needed a full NFL offseason to develop game strength. I said before the 2015 draft that he'd be a day 1 starter that would be a solid player by year 2...if he continues to develop, he may have a chance to be an upper-echelon guard in this league.

You're half right here. Rex has a healthy dose of both 1-gap and 2-gap in his system. IMO, it was more confusion about what his play-to-play role was last year than a mismatched scheme. He 2-gapped at times yesterday and was fine--it's about what he's doing 80% of the time that matters IMO. -
Gilmore is letting his contract affect his play
thebandit27 replied to 26TrapDraw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now now, there's no need to apologize for calling out his play last week as preservation-mode. I meant that the folks claiming that he isn't very good, has always been overrated, etc should feel a bit silly today. He was back to his typical self this week. Solid in coverage, physical, aggressive. His ball awareness was much better today too, though I'll need to see some consistency in that respect before I take it as a true improvement. -

He was outstanding against Fitzgerald as a rookie, when Fitz got 5 targets against Gilmore (in 19 Coverage snaps) and came away with 1 reception for 14 yards http://presnapreads.com/2013/06/04/stephon-gilmore-an-elite-cornerback-lost-in-the-failings-of-the-buffalo-bills/ http://m.buffalobills.com/news/article-2/Gilmore-wanted-Fitzgerald-matchup/9459092e-4c56-45ad-a9ca-c772f47149a3 -

Zero whining whatsoever in that article. -
^ I agree with both of you Another component is that this team has had a very high run:pass ratio in comparison to the rest of the league. That goes back to the disconnect we talked about earlier; use the dude or don't trade picks to get him.
-
^ I completely agree that there's a fundamental disconnect between making the investment that they did and then failing to target him as one should with a player that they believe to be a premier talent. I'm sure part of that is due to health, but by the looks of it a much greater portion of the blame lies with the QB and OC. Like I said, the tape doesn't lie; he's getting separation. For me, the trade was fine on its face--I have no issue with moving up to get a guy that you believe is a premier playmaker. When examined in the context of his utilization rate within the offense, however, it certainly looks like a poor investment up to this point--I would wager that is a major reason why the OC is no longer employed and the QB has no guaranteed money beyond this season.
-
I agree that availability is a factor and is worth discussing. I don't agree, however, that he's deficient in that area. He's missed 3 of a possible 34 starts, and the all-22's show that he's getting separation reliably. He's simply not targeted enough.
-
When folks play the "out produced" card, it tells me that they haven't really come to terms with what leads to production from NFL WRs. In general, number of targets is what determines production. See below for more analysis: http://fantasyguru.com/football/subscribers/articles/2015wrcatchypt.php
-
I agree that he's clearly not at full speed, but that's life in the NFL as you know. He probably feels that he can be effective in the same way he was last season when he wasn't 100%. IMO the reason Revis wasn't on Sammy is that Sammy has really never had any trouble getting open against him, and flat-out abused him 1-on-1 in week 17 last year.
-
Cmon now rags, you were there--he's getting open
-
The only thing that typical WR numbers like receptions and yards show is that targets are the number one predictor of statistical productivity. Most targets = most receptions, nearly 100% of the time. Up until this season, Watkins has been a top-5 WR in both yards and TDs on a per-target basis. His problem is not enough targets.
