  1. I hate it. Not to mention short week likely for week 2. This is going to be like their Super Bowl.
  2. I would consider minnesota and maybe new Orleans as traditional. I'd also hear an argument for Houston.
  3. This is terrible. Sizeable advantage to jacksonville
  4. Monumental day in Bills history. 12-15 years ago, if you would have told me that we would be breaking ground on a new stadium across the street in 2023... I would have thought you were crazy.
  5. Took the consensus best ol remaining. Impossible to argue with that
  6. For me, it is/was Poltergeist. Scared the living daylights out of me as a kid. As far as slasher films. Terrifier and Terrifier 2. Insidious is great. As mentioned a lot. Hereditary is one of the best horror movies made. Maybe not so much 'scary'... but, just how everything unfolded.
  7. I haven't been this excited about a pick since watching xavier omon highlights
  8. The Jerry Springer show was great in the period of time where it went from topics of interest and was transitioning into the absurd. I'd say about 1997? It was still kind of trying to be real and grounded. Fights were real. After a year or so, the show just turned into a caricature of itself and was unwatchable. Maury took over as the most compelling guilty pleasure daytime television talk show.
  9. I hate this movie for no other reason than it memorializes that clown Russ Brandon as the Buffalo Bills GM.
  10. I didnt know that. I consider myself extremely knowledgeable on franchise history/relocation. I guess I am going to have some great learning coming up. To be fair, I don't remember any derby going on previous to the more recent additions. I was 13-14 in 1992 though So they got to draft a bunch of North Stars, and in turn, the North Stars were allowed to participate in the expansion draft. They moved to Dallas a year later. Crazy.
  11. It is a part of an already vibrant and affluent downtown scene in a city that has quickly become one of the hottest destinations in the country. Horse before the cart there. Need to get the other stuff rolling like actual major commerce downtown, and people working, living, and shopping there.
  12. The Sharks were just an expansion franchise.
  13. Its a good move for the Jets, and probably a good move for the Packers. It is a risk, losing the picks and delaying the QB search for a year or so... but they need to go for it now. Last year they had the look of a team poised to make some noise. If Rodgers can get back to form, they are going to make the playoffs and can win playoff games. If I am a Bills fan and they had a similar situation with the drought... I would want them to do this all day (I was excited for Rex Ryan too). You do run the risk of Rodgers rodgering. A volatile franchise in a viscous media market. I Rodgers is a 1-and-done, recent history shows there is a rolling availability of competent quarterbacks
  14. Yes, and no. Their lease is about up, and they are going to be asking for a lot of money in upgrading that arena (if not asking for a new one). Through the lens of that, the outlook appeared a bit stormy, with how the team could never leave their rut, and attendance was sparse. I had never seen interest in the team so low, even during the NHL ownership/bankruptcy period. You also had to wonder how much more frustration, criticism, embarrassment, and financial losses the Pegulas wanted to endure with the Sabres. The NHL has a few other fires burning though, and not a huge bench of billionaires willing to purchase (and relocate) a franchise. The NHL seems a bit averse to relocation in recent decades. But they are at a crossroads with this arena (no pun intended). I honestly wish money were no object and we can have a re-do with that terrible arena now. They cold build a much more aesthetically pleasing, more comfortable arena, with much better sight lines, seats closer to the action... and house many of the events that people wanted with a Bills-centric facility downtown. The thing we have now is the NHL's version of Three Rivers Stadium/Riverfront/Veterans Park/Busch Stadium.
  15. I would doubt it. Would be really weird timing with the new stadium. Also, Jesse's words in the players tribune certainly sounded like her long term career was going to be management of this franchise.
  16. Montana and Brady are both clutch and ice in their veins and are the 2 most successful quarterbacks ever. I, personally don't consider either the GOAT, even era-adjusted. IMO, both Elway and Marino were better Quarterbacks than Montana. Manning was a better QB than Brady (but was largely squandered by the Colts). The new age of QBs are probably better than all of them as they are freaks.
  17. The problem is, that space has gotten very competitive between the facility in Indy, Minneapolis, Vegas, Dallas, Atlanta, LA, and heck, even East Rutherford. Add in a new reno for the SkyDome/Rogers. The chances of Buffalo hosting events like that are minimal to none. They aren't going to lift the combine. It is a terrible market for NCAA Football, nobody will rush to host neutral site games here, I bet they would have trouble stealing the MAC Championship from Detroit. PS&E had studies done that looked into the potential events that could/would be hosted in a downtown/indoor facility over the current choice. My guess is the potential events aren't worth it. And to be honest, a replica of Lucas Oil Stadium would look great downtown. The problem is you are tagging on a ton of direct and indirect cost and a stretched out building (and red tape) schedule.
  18. Sounds like they got a good coach
  19. Yes to the blackouts listed above. Its a drag. I do think we get to watch Blue Jays though. I have had the MLB package for like the last 7 seasons. For the price, you get a ton of content, even with the blackouts. Its great to have a day game on my phone at my desk while I work. I don't know if the Mets are carried locally for Spectrum, Comcast, or whatever, but if you have a friend/relative who subscribes... borrow their password to watch the Mets on whatever app their cable partner is on. That is what I do for the Sabres/MSG Go.
  20. It is a misconception that Buffalo is this amazing sports city. We do have a deep love affair with the Bills.... and the Sabres get supported well for the most part (although this is overstated and there are fits and starts). The Bandits thing is a nice story too, but it is an enigma that has taken root (in large part to the local reservations), as were the crazy Bisons years from 1988 to 1991. It is tough to get support for much here if it isnt Bills or Sabres. I have talked to people about an OHL team in town a bunch of times, and this arena football team kind of falls into this. People will not support minor league/irrelevant stuff here. We have a pretty decent NCAA football and basketball program with some national relevance (or was building national relevance) and most people wont bother. We have 2 Division 1 NCAA Hockey programs in the area who aren't supported, and you never hear a peep until they win their conference. An OHL team would die on the vine, as would most other sports ventures. I say it in a lot of similar topics, and likely already did here... but things would be different if we had Fortune 500s anchored downtown, along with a lot of affluent residents and a self-sustaining ecosystem with grocery stores, convenient mass transit, and everything people need to live without leaving the confines of downtown proper/first ring of the city. In that case, there would be a much more thriving nightly scene downtown and teams like this could survive. As it is, people arent in a hurry to drive from Grand Island, Williamsville, or West Seneca to park and attend an arena football game.
  21. who else is going to build the stadium?
  22. I suspect there was some sort of plan between the state, Canada/border, Loves, and Amazon. They were going to build a giant Loves truck stop here (residents called bloody murder and monkey-wrenched it). I had heard a rumor that what they wanted to do was pre-check and weigh trucks there for border crossings. The welcome-center thing was built around that time.... when the Amazon thing was announced it made some more sense.
  23. The Bills need to make 1 of Hopkins, Jeudy or Evans happen or this offseason is a failure. A capable WR not named Diggs was the #1 glaring weakness this team had last season.
  24. It was a perfect storm. Good coach and good QB. Good QB was willing to commit his entire being to winning. Coach paid attention to every single detail and every single opportunity to gain an advantage. Even if that entered into gray areas of rules. Stayed ahead of the curve at certain points, like when they had Gronk and Hernandez as dual tight ends which was a nightmare. The Division had the three stooges residing in it for most of the entire run. The Jets had a small run with Rex. The Division was of no concern for New England and offered little resistance. Players willing to sign there for less than full market value to win Expert level ability to allow players to leave, not paying them, and replacing them with cheaper options who rarely missed a beat. Maximized the comp picks as well as trading down in the draft for quantity of picks. Luck. Honestly, I have never seen a franchise get so lucky at various times in crunch time. Other teams would somehow become possessed and either make terrible decisions or physical failures. You also have to get lucky to some degree in order to get to a Super Bowl, let alone win it. To do it on a regular gait is incredible.
