  1. It all starts at the top, the owner still the president? The ineptitude has been justified because foolish people keep buying season tickets for what transpired in the early 90's. This franchise hasn't been close to the same since they fired Bill Polian, they even had John Butler and AJ Smith and let them go. It is not just the draft, it has been poor free agent acquisitions, bad coaches, bad schemes, bad players. For the life of me I can't wrap my brain around why Bills fans support a k-mart team by selling out games with an inferior product on the field and on the sidelines. The same can be said about an owner of a near billion dollar franchise that lets morons run his team for ten years.
  2. Lynch is a freight train and needs a hole of some sort, Jackson is a jaguar and just needs a crease, both are better then Taylor. Taylor is a 3rd down player, kinda stupid to sign him when the Bills already have a younger version.
  3. Do you guys realize what he was paid last season, no way the Bills pay anywhere near that price. I can't even imagine how badly he would play behind the rag tag Bills O line, besides he sucks big time Maybe firing Dan Henning was a bad Idea...
  4. If you guys want an expensive receiver why not go after Anquan Bolden, the rumor is a 3rd will get him away from Arizona.
  5. Well it is to bad the Bills didn't go after him a few years ago after the Jets didn't want him anymore, If the Titans don't want to resign him there is a reason.
  6. What makes you think it will end there, no matter who the Bills obtain the fans will gush about him when he starts to play well, and then state he sucked from day one after he gets beaten down week after week in a poor offense. Most of the fans posting here think the Bills had a decent O line because Fred Jackson did pretty well in rushing, and they didn't allow as many sacks as other teams. Anyway, the kid shows a really strong desire to be a starter and the knock on him is his height, Drew Brees overcame a short stature to win a super bowl. If his height is the only drawback and that was the only difference between him and Flacco....I'd say grab him.
  7. His value did go up as he threw at the combine, he has a cannon for an arm and can make any NFL throw, looks like another Joe Flacco. First rounder...no
  8. I would agree QB, but you know what... In all the years I've been around football and watching it, Ive seen only one sure thing at QB and that was John Elway, and even then Marino made him look like a bad pick the first few years. Marino was drafted 27 out of 28 by the Dolphins, almost last. Take that 1983 draft, the Bills took Tony Hunter with their first #1 at 12 and Jim Kelly with the second #1 at 14. Tony Hunter... who ? Come to think of it the KC Chiefs had their choice of Jim Kelly-Dan Marino-Ken O'Brian-Tony Eason and took Tod Blackledge at no. 7 in the first round My point is that finding that "save your franchise" QB is a lot tougher then then any of you think. The Bills already wasted a #1 pick on JP Losman. To waste a #1 on Sam Bradford who "might" never recover from his injury, and "if" he is able to regain his accuracy and arm strength. I suppose the world will see at his pro day. Clausen is recovering from foot surgery, Colt McCoy is also recovering from an Injury.
  9. So did the Bills for two years and it did them no good when the rest of the line are overweight slugs.
  10. Where are all the guys throwing out their sack stats when you need them? Seriously, how can you say Payton Manning has a bad O line because they are bad running team when Manning was the least sacked QB in the entire league. The Colts were last in the NFL in rushing because they had Payton Manning throwing it all over, he calls his own plays don't forget. The fact that they relied on his arm to win games rather then building a balanced attack might have cost the Colts the super bowl, even though the Colts did run the ball well against the Saints. Then again the Saints were dropping into coverage in the second half.
  11. I agree, I just don't get why different is better... Bulger is an injury prone battered wreck who has shown he can't get it done with a less then stellar O line. Nix says they can't do it all in one year, which makes sense because this team has so many needs and they are switching offense and defense schemes. It would make more sense to draft someone this year and develop him under Gailey, doesn't need to be a first round either as Clausen and Bradford will most likely be gone at #9.
  12. Jeez, really? And I didn't even try and make the point that Ryan Leaf went to a really bad team, bad scheme, bad coaches, bad O line, bad players. they went 5-11 with 2 different bad head coaches in Kevin Gilbride and June Jones... and then the next year went 1-15 and got worse under new head coach ... Mike Riley? who?
  13. Of course most will say Payton Manning... But then look at the reality of the situation of the 1998 draft, most every single scout and GM had Ryan Leaf right up there with Payton Manning. That year there was a hot debate as to who the best QB was, Manning or Leaf...honestly! The Chargers took Ryan Leaf with the #2 pick overall right behind Manning. Mind you this was before John Butler and AJ Smith got there. What some don't know is that the Chargers traded up a spot to get one of the top two QB's in the draft, so not only did they completely blow it on Leaf, they gave up their #1 and #2 to get him. Look at the bonus money paid to Ryan Leaf, not to mention the #2 draft pick and the shame the entire franchise suffered for such a huge blunder. How could so many scouts and GM's get that pick so wrong... if they knew before hand how he would pan out, he wouldn't have even been drafted. So, even when you think you know...you never know! So who really knows if Clausen, Bradford or any of the multitudes at QB this year will be great, if only the Bills could ask Bill Polian
  14. I got your bozo right here... Another stat guy, stats are meaningless concerning sacks. Go by experience per player and how many players played in each position on the line. The Bills were a constant revolving door in every position except center. No other team in the NFL suffered as many offensive line changes as the Bills did, you seem to forget that the Bills have a QB nicknamed "captain checkdown" because he was constantly dumping the ball to the RB's to avoid the pressure, that is the biggest reason the Bills didn't set records for sacks allowed. OTOH Rothlisberger and Rodgers both had a tendency to hold on to the ball waiting for their receivers to get open, even their coaches mentioned this during the season. Fred Jackson was given the starting RB job because he was more elusive then Lynch and could get more yards by breaking the tackle after the initial hit, it wasn't because the O line was playing great. The Bills had the worst O line in the NFL last season, no question about it. If you doubt this, watch and see the changes the new head coach makes.
  15. Perhaps maybe 2 of the Bills O line players currently on the roster would even start for the Steelers or Packers, both those teams with supposedly bad O lines. Even then both Hangartner and Levitre might be backups due to inexperience. The only positions that are locked on the Bills O line are-center and guard, the Bills might need another guard depending on how Wood recovers. But they definitely need both LT & RT. Plus they still lack a dominate blocking tight end.
  16. Yep, another lamb for slaughter. The mentality in Buffalo is we gotta find the "franchise" QB, the next Jim Kelly. It's just a darn shame the Bills don't have a Bill Polian GM / pres to find that guy.
  17. True enough Edwards has looked horrid this last year, but then so did the entire offense, the scheme, the O line, the protections. He is a smart guy, if he can grasp Gaileys offense quickly enough let's see what happens in a different system, with "hopefully" better playcallers, O line and protection's. You forget, Edwards comes at the right price...
  18. The thing is...even if they do most of the things you ask for, and of course given Buffalo's screwy state of mind the last 10 years there is no guarantee that they will do any of the things on your list. 1st) You have to look at things realistically, The new Bills head coach was just fired from the Kansas City Chiefs OC position last year for a reason. We don't really know the definitive reason for that firing, but that is not a good sign to hire a guy for a position elevated above a position he was just fired from. 2nd) Chan Gailey hired a bunch of college coaches... even Buddy Nix stated there is a huge learning curve going from college to the pros, at any level. Understanding that it might take them a good 3 years to become good at the position there were hired for, which they may or may not accomplish. The NFL is not a very forgiving league. 3rd) The team is about to try and drastically change both offensive and defensive schemes, going from the Mike Martz offense to a Chan Gailey "pistol" and 4-3 tampa 2 to a 3-4, every player at every position on the team is going to need to go through a learning process. And oh yea...who is teaching them all these new things they need to learn?? 4th) The offensive line is in shambles the Bills need two starters at tackle, both left and right tackle. There is a reason Jason Peters in Philly got paid 3x as much money as Trent Edwards gets, Peters is labeled a "franchise" left tackle and Trent Edwards ... Ralph Wilson just blew up the entire team and is putting it all in the hands of a guy that was just fired Last season as offensive coordinator... My Take: this team will be competing for the #1 overall draft pick next year, so the team should grab a left tackle with that #9 this year and get the franchise QB next year Marty Schottenheimer wanted the Job as HC, the Bills wanted to hire Marty's son Brian to be the head coach... and he turned it down. It stands to reason if the Bills had hired Marty for the HC job, he would have hired his son Brian away from the Jets and trained and groomed him for the head coaching job in a few years. What idiot in the background runs this team... Al Davis?
  19. If Buddy Nix is worth anything at all, this is why he was hired. The Bills need to take a OT with that #9
  20. First, Bill Walsh stated it usually take 3-4 years to develop a QB properly. That is of course provided he is with the same team, coaches, system. You seem to forget Losman had some really good games in 06 and was projected to have a really good 07 but then Steve Fairchild left and Turd Schonert took over and things went downhill. JP had Mularkey and Jauron as head coaches, Sam Wyche-Turk Schonert- Alex Van pelt as QB coaches-Steve Fairchild-Turk Schonert-Alex Van pelt as offensive coordinators. Talk about being in a bad situation and in a job where you are still learning your craft and your bosses change every year. That alone was not a very conducive environment for learning. I don't fault JP Losman for his failure, I blame Jauron for not hiring an experienced offensive coordinator once Steve Fairchild left. Not for nothing but Steve Fairchild was never even an actual offensive coordinator until he came to Buffalo, he was the "assistant" OC at St Louis where Mike Martz called the plays. You draft a guy with a #1 pick and then surround him with morons to teach him is an absolute formula for failure.
  21. JP Losman failed because he was put into Jaurons and Turd Schonerts hands.
  22. I agree This Thread should be about worst head coach in Buffalo Bills history and Jauron is right up there with Hank Bullough.
  23. My perspective is that Marv wanted to be head coach and Ralph Wilson said NO, that he only wanted him as GM. Marv was GM for two years in 06-07, he hired Dick Jauron as HC and Steve Fairchild to run the offense. Fairchild spent time under Mike Martz as the St Louis assistant OC who helped Martz run the offense. Now I can understand Marv wanting to build a high powered offense again in Buffalo and looking around the league it seemed like a good choice to install "greatest show on turf" in Buffalo by hiring Fairchild. Jauron hired his own DC away from Chicago who was the DB coach at the time. At that time both the Tampa 2 defense and the Mike Martz offense were both highly regarded around the league as good schemes. If you recall, Marv stated he would draft by consensus and let the head coach and the scouts all have input, and he wouldn't over rule Jauron. So he was basically stating that Jauron had autonomy over the draft. His first draft they had released SS Lawyer Milloy in a salary cap move and they had a great need at safety to replace him. Donte Whitner was the 58th rated player on the board and the Raiders had just taken Michael Huff at #8, but the Bills NEEDED a saftey. Just further proof that Jauron picked that 06 draft class the first 5 were all for the defense. Donte Whitner- John McCargo- Ashton Youboty- Ko Simpson-Kyle Williams. After the draft Marv went to work bringing in free agents and there is where he screwed up. I tend to think that the vet O line coach Jim McNally had some input into Dockery and Walker being signed. But then again how was Marv to know that the strength and conditioning coach sucked, or that Jim McNally would retire and Steve Fairchild would quit to be a head coach in college. Here is where Jauron really scrood the pooch... instead of hiring experienced veteran NFL coaches he decided to promote from within. The QB coach Turk Schonert was named OC and Sean Kuglar was named the O line coach. Jauron did it again by firing Schonert and promoting the QB coach to OC...two weeks before the season started. So yea Marv screwed up by hiring Dick Jauron, that was his biggest mistake. Then Jauron went on to blow up the team year after year with hiring bad assistant coaches and retooling the O line every year, and bad draft choices.
  24. This whole rumor makes me want to The Redskins would have to tender Campbell to receive draft compensation if he signed elsewhere. Campbell's minimum tender amount would be $3.14 million, according to a league source. If the Redskins increased the offer to $3.268 million, they would receive first- and third-round compensation. Last season, Campbell had a salary of a little more than $2.857 million. " http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/jas...alo-331661.html
  25. What gets me is that none of these QB's want to throw at the combine and prefer to only throw at their college pro day. That could be a mistake as throwing at the combine helped QB's like Joe Flacco immensly, it really gives the 400+ scouts a look at what you can do vs perhaps the 20 that will attend a pro day. Oh well, at least we can get a look at Pike
