  1. You're absolutely correct. Also, given where the referee was standing (right on top of Reed, vulture-like, almost daring him), there was almost no way Reed could have stood up without bumping him. Plus, Reed scored on that play. It was an even more egregious miss than the Travis play in Oakland.
  2. Moulds may have been a better athlete, but (as others have noticed), Reed was absolutely ripped. One of the strongest WRs in the game. He was also sneaky fast once he had the football. How many of you remember that 86-yard TD he had against the Dolphins in Joe Robbie when the Fins threw the kitchen sink at Kelly? He did that against KC too if I recall. Dude just managed to get open, and once he did, he didn't drop the damn ball. Oh and by the way, to the guy who mentioned Reed throwing his helmet in that Miami game, don't forget: Moulds caught a long pass in that game and fumbled it away. If he'd held on, we might have routed Miami as that drop was a huge momentum-changer. I know Moulds had 240 yards in that game, but about 50 of them amounted to a long punt because he fumbled.
  3. If you switched the teams and the eras they played, who's to say that Eric wouldn't have become Chris Burkett instead? Learning from Reed was a HUGE asset to Moulds' career. And you've got to wonder how Eric would have handled Jimbo screaming in his face for running the wrong route (which has seemed to happen all too often over his career).
  4. Reed. He had a competitive streak I don't always see in Moulds. Part of that may just have been that Andre had a quarterback who was always willing to get in his face.
  5. I hope you got the crabs afterward.
  6. I liked the Washington-Miami and San Francisco-Miami SBs in the '80s because both times the Dolphins got their asses handed to them. Nuf said.
  7. I bet eight out of ten Pats "fans" don't even know who Darryl Stingley was.
  8. That's what I hear too. Still there are a number of questions. Did the bus blow out a tire? Did someone cut him off or force him to the right? (I know, it would have to be a pretty big vehicle.) Did one of the dogs run out into the road? (I know, I'd have just run over the dog given the choice). Was there a disruption inside the bus? Lots of questions. Fortunately there are enough survivors to answer a lot of those questions. And why oh why did the truck driver even pull over on a highway, and under a bridge to boot? (Less room for maneuvering through in case someone cut the bus off.) It wasn't raining or snowing. He didn't have a blowout or some other emergency
  9. Nobody's reported how far off to the side of the road the truck was. If I had to hazard a guess I'd say that the bus driver might have seen the truck too late and tried to get around it but was hemmed in by vehicles on his left. That area is quite hilly and the bus had just come around a left turn (see map on this page http://www.rochesterdandc.com/apps/pbcs.dl...EWS01/50129004) Strangest thing. Happened in broad daylight and there wasn't any snow to speak of (which also meant the bus was going full speed). Those poor kids and their families. This is exactly why roadside parking is BANNED on highways except for emergencies. Your dog having to take a piss is not an emergency. All the driver had to do was get off at exit 7 (see map). It's not like it was a 40-mile stretch of unbroken road.
  10. I live off East Ave between the two schools. Does that count?
  11. Half an hour but I never time it and no one else seems to either. Got a cafeteria in the building so I usually just grab a sandwich and eat at my desk. Then when I do go out for lunch (like today) I don't feel guilty about taking an hour and a half (like today).
  12. I know. But it didn't stop me from thinking "where was that nine months ago you putz?" That said, I don't blame him for losing the game. I blame the six SOBs who couldn't tackle that guy on third and forever.
  13. Then again, I was in the stands at the Meadowlands nine months later watching him kick a 51-yarder against the Jets.
  14. Which brings up another point. Marv Levy has four times as many Super Bowl appearances as Mike Martz, Marty Schottenheimer and Herman Edwards combined. And none of those three will sniff the Hall of Fame.
  15. The FMLA allows time off for (among other things) personal illness AND for the illness of a child for whom you're a primary caregiver. Most enlightened employment policies follow similar logic. Staying home to take care of a five-year-old with chickenpox is an acceptable use of sick time under most employment policies. Staying home to babysit your grandchildren because your adult daughter (who is old enough to make other care arrangements) is sick is not an acceptable use of sick time.
  16. That's not true. There is such a thing if you actually use them as SICK DAYS. As an exempt employee here that's what I get, "unlimited" sick days. I use that time when I'm sick or when one of my kids is sick. When our daughter was in the hospital for a week with viral pneumonia, I stayed out all week to trade off with my wife being with our daughter at the hospital and with our son at home, and I didn't have to worry about not having enough sick time. When we had to go to Philadelphia for four days for some tests for our daughter, I took those as sick time, same deal. I get a certain amount of vacation each year based on time served, and three days' worth of personal time. I can't roll those over. Even though I get "unlimited" sick days, I'd never think of using one just because I didn't feel like going to work. Nobody else is going to do my job if I don't do it.
  17. "Iron Maiden? Excellent!" [guitar riff] That's some funny, funny stuff there!
  18. So... did you?
  19. Hey Chalkie, have you called the Smithsonian about this? Or you could put it on eBay!
  20. My favorite was from the playoff game I attended against the Flyers a few years back that Curtis Brown won in overtime: "He scoooooooores! Curtis Brown, top shelf where Mama keeps the cookies!!!" and of course "STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU Barnes!" *sigh*
  21. That place is nigh impossible to play in when it's filled with screaming mallrats like it was last night.
  22. "I could never reach it." -- Dante Hicks, Clerks
  23. "If you get Brady to drop the towel instead -- BOOM! I'm there!"
  24. That Graham dude too. I'd like to see some of the QB's of the last 20 years (coughcoughMarinocough) play in the era when receivers got beat up all the way down the field.
