Bills at Saints - Give Thanks for a win in this Postgame Thread
BRH replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was also odd to see no flags when the Saints decided to get chippy and taunt our guys on consecutive plays in the first quarter. One happened right in front of the ref when Onyemata head-butted Josh and chirped at him. The book has been out on our guys since the post-game comments in Jacksonville: bully them and we'll fold. The Saints clearly had that as part of their game plan early, because they knew they couldn't out-talent us. Fortunately the guys got through it and put the game away. I don't care for the taunting rule, but I'd prefer that it (like every other rule) be applied consistently. -

Perhaps giving up 286 yards and four touchdowns on the ground is really what creates doubt in the players' minds about the game plan. I have never heard a sorrier excuse for refusing/failing to make adjustments. And you can qualify that by saying "adjustments and major changes are not the same thing," but that's splitting hairs. Doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. I would have had more respect for Frazier if he had just admitted his game plan sucked. -

I do, actually. On both sides of the ball. It’s easy to look at a final score and say it’s too lopsided to let two players make a difference, but there were several turning points in the game that were directly attributable to one or the other guy being out. Cody Ford is not an NFL lineman and he was only in that game because Brown was unavailable. His false start stalled our first drive. Unfortunately, as others have said, this is not a team that plays well from behind. If we had answered the first Colts TD with one of our own, maybe the whole tenor of the game changes. I just don’t get it. You have to do so much work as a coaching staff and a team to deal with injuries sustained on the field of play as it is. Why would you willingly add to that workload by not doing whatever is within your power to limit COVID absences? The rules put unvaxxed players out longer than vaccinated ones who catch COVID, and for good reason. A good coach wouldn’t just leave that detail up to the players as much as this one has. I haven’t said jack about politics or COVID itself, so maybe you can get a grip yourself. All I care about is having our players available as much as possible. And unfortunately, what they decide to do with respect to the vaccine affects that availability. I’d say the same about a player who did something else stupid off the field to miss a game. -

it’s not about what he said after the game. There were ways to get the message across all preseason about availability being the best kind of ability. He didn’t do that. It’s a pretty big hole in the process if you ask me. -

It also seems that Mr. Process would be doing whatever he could to ensure that his most important players are available to play. “Respecting their decisions,” how’s that working out for ya, Coach? -

Brown is not “injured” any more than Star is. Calling them “injured” conveys the sense that they’re out because of something they did while trying to help the team. For them it’s the complete opposite. Call them what they are. Unvaccinated selfish idiots. ” -
A Few Thought about the Jets Game, in no particular order
BRH replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Everything was great as usual, but I have to ask about this. "With Edmunds, I feel like he would have stayed in the zone the whole time, discouraging the pass in the first place." Really, what evidence do you have for this "feeling"? Klein had a really good game because he was being asked to play a position that fits him (unlike when he had to step in for Milano last year). But you seriously don't think Edmunds would have had an even bigger impact? -
Oh Sammy...I don't miss you. Pathetic effort here.

Cam Newton back to the Panthers? (Update - signed)
BRH replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Remember this? https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2018/1/7/16861540/carolina-panthers-new-orleans-saints-cam-newton-concussion-protocol "The NFL let" him go back in after just one play. I also don't think he was ever afforded the same kind of referee "protection" that smaller, slighter, and something that rhymes with "slighter" quarterbacks seemed to get. -
This is pretty much the only reason I come to this board during Jets week year after year.

We have a terrific field goal kicker we hate to use

The Jags had made exactly zero FGs on American soil until yesterday. I don't blame McD for thinking 55 was out of their range and that they would probably punt, and that the odds of that happening were higher than the odds of the refs making up a stupid penalty to put the Jags closer on the next play. Well, they didn't punt, and the kid nailed it. Tip your cap. It basically won them the game. -
NFL Officiating is an abomination for a 18B product

We saw this for years in New England, when they would call a bunch of ticky-tack fouls on the Pats in garbage time, well after the damage was already done, so the penalties would look balanced in the box score. -
When we lost to John Fourcade in 1989 - sending us to Cleveland for the wildcard game - and to Todd Marijuanovich in 1992, which cost us the AFC East.

Bears looking at replacement for Nagy. Daboll at top of their list...

Why in the world would anyone want that job -
Pats are 4-4 with a rookie QB and almost top 10 defense

Two wins against the Jets, one against the Texans, and one against the paper tiger Chargers that got blown out a week ago. Yeah. I'm worried. 🙄 -
OT- think about going to the MNF game - need advice

1. Try the Transit Road (Rte 78) places in Lancaster/Depew near the Thruway/airport. Since you'll be flying in and out, probably your best bet. 2. You could also try staying near the metro station by UB/South Campus, and take the train into and out of the city. Ubers (to/from airport/stadium)_ will be more plentiful there because of the college students as well. 3. Plenty of places, of course. Anchor Bar will be jammed. Duff's. Elmo's. You'll find something. 4. Might actually be cheaper to rent the car and not deal with constant Ubers/other transportation. Ubers will be more expensive on game day because of demand. Plenty of off-site walkable parking, or at least there was in my time before the Bills shut off access to the California Road lots awhile back. 5. By tomorrow you probably will have been invited to a few tailgates in this thread. 6. The team website has the proof rules, I believe. 7. Have fun! -
I can't be worried about a bunch of players who don't understand simple math. Going for two makes it a three-score game and absolutely ices it. Anyone who thinks "well, that would never happen" doesn't remember the McKelvin game or the Dallas game. You have an opportunity to finish a game, you finish it. Levy wasn't the coach in the '70s. If you're up three scores and are going for a fourth, that's classless. This was not. Teams have scored twice in a minute before.

I was at that game, and yes there was a gentleman's agreement on that first play. The Redskins lost because Joe Gibbs called a second consecutive timeout, and the resulting penalty gave the Bills the yardage they needed to get into field goal range. I still have the Sean Taylor #21 mini-towel that they handed out to all of the fans. I rather enjoyed the win because, unlike in a previous trip to Washington where Bills fans abounded in our area, we were surrounded by some really obnoxious home fans.

We need to ease off on other fans' misery.
BRH replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall
You remember how they tied the game, right? The puck went flying 20 feet up in the air during a scrum by the net and landed... right on Lemieux's stick. I can still see the whole thing in slow motion. Hundred percent. Some of us are old enough to remember the '70s. And I won't kick Browns or Lions fans when they're down; they haven't been up since the 1950s and I've never had one of their fans make jokes at my team's expense. I can't say that about ANY other fanbase in the league. And yes, that includes the Jets. So they can all go pound sand. -
He believes his own hype - that he can throw from any platform and at any arm angle - so much that he does it even when he doesn't have to, and good defenses take advantage of it.
-
Honestly? He just wasn't very good last night. And by that I don't mean "off day for a great QB not very good." I mean "Davis Mills not very good." He still has crazy athletic ability, so he was able to break free for a few runs, but for the most part our defenders contained their lanes and frustrated him up front, and our two-deep coverage forced him into taking the underneath stuff. I lost track of how many passes he skipped or threw in front of/behind his targets. His hands measure only 9 1/4 inches across, one of the smallest hand sizes among NFL QBs, and it showed last night in the rain. (Josh's hands are almost a full inch wider.) You can talk about his lack of weapons past Kelce and Hill, and you can talk about his porous O-line (which had its hands full all night and had to hold repeatedly despite the fact that we NEVER blitzed)... but the truth was, when the Chiefs needed him to step up and execute several competent passes in a row, he couldn't do it. If he hadn't been bailed out by convenient flags in at least two drives (the opening one and one in the third/fourth quarter), this game would have been an even bigger blowout than it was.
