  1. I had this exact thought earlier. I think as Bills fans were just programmed to think the worst. I dont think this D gives up 37 points to pickspatrick again tho.

I don't think FitzPickSix is the QB of the Jests by then...Geno time will be coming if not their rookie. Fitz isn't the answer, 9 picks in last 2 games, and once they lose a few more they will start trying to figure out what the other QB's look like on that roster for next year when Fitz isn't with the team anymore after his 1 year deal.

  2. So we beat NE's 3rd string QB....yayyyy.

The Rams Defense is real...and they have a nice offense.

    Enter Greggo Williams.

    Stay humble Buffalo Bills.

I live in LA, have watched every Rams game like I watch the Bills games since they all have come on after. I like the Rams, always have, so like to see them back in LA...but I will be at the game next week and rocking Bills gear and rooting for the Bills!

Now, all that being said, the Rams are not as good as their 3-1 record, however they are not an easy win by any means. Here is a week to week report on them:

Week 1: Embarrassing game all around. The stout DL looked bad, the whole defense looked bad and the offense was atrocious. This was a very bad game by all facets of the Rams against a bad team. they did not look ready to play and looked like a bad team playing a preseason game. If this version shows up we will crush them.

Week 2: Another bad outing by the offense. The OL for the second week in a row just can not open up any running lanes, and the fact Keenum is QB and poses little to no threat to the Seahawks isn't helping the run game one bit. The DL played better, however, if you watched this game you really felt like it was more about Seattles struggle to find any offensive rhythm for the 2nd week in a row, which honestly is their staple every year. So while its easy to look at the score and think the D was outstanding, I would say it was more good than great and Seattle missed their opportunities to win.

Week 3: This was the first game the offense got going, and even then Gurley still wasn't getting much room to run even though the Bucs D has been dismal and the passing game still was under 200 yards. Overall, easily the Rams best game of the year, but it still wasn't great by any means as Gurley only had 85 yards but on 27 carries and Keenum only had 190 yards passing. Gurley did get a couple goalline TD's, but overall the run game struggled again.

Week 4: They really didn't look very good this game, it was all about how bad the Cardinals looked. The offense struggled most the game, and Gurley also struggled to get going. But thanks to 3 INT's and a Palmer injury they got plenty of short field opportunities this week. The Cardinals looked like a team reeling after getting their ass kicked last week. Unlike the Steelers who came out and stomped someone after getting crushed by Philly, the Cardinals just looked like a team lost out there. Palmer's struggles are real, he was missing open guys a lot and had lots of missed opportunities. The Rams closed the game out after Drew Stanton threw a pick to end the game. Best play of the game was the back shoulder pass to Quick where Quick also made a spectacular catch for the TD. But the WR group here drops a lot of passes and is inconsistent getting open coupled with Keenum being inconsistent hitting them. Keenum did surprise with some almost Tyrod Taylor like scrambles away from trouble to get some plays complete that helped them get the go ahead score, so he seems to be improving, but he's still not that good.

Our biggest issue is going to be with the D...can our offensive line give Taylor enough time to make plays. The LB's and DB's are average outside the DL, so if we can keep Taylor on his feet the opportunities should be there. The offense isn't really threatening at all to a D playing at our level right now, especially getting Dareus back. Gurley is yet to really find running room and that OL isn't good for the Rams.

All in all, I expect a Bills win, but its also no gimme game either. If the Rams can keep the game low scoring then they will have a better chance. If Taylor and the offense starts to score a lot (not to mention our D might too) it is going to be very difficult for the Rams to keep up, they just don't have the offensive talent IMO.

My Prediction: Bills 27, Rams 13

  3. Not over analyzing anything. Also not looking at this negatively at all. Maybe I'm the only one who listened to him repeat this same comment three times ("They were missing a player and we brought our team" or something like that). He used the exact same words three times and it was a message to the national media ("We have a team that doesn't rely on any one person") Sorry you feel this way...this thread was not meant to denigrate or criticize Rex...in fact, it was complimentary.

Sorry man, my post wasn't really directed at you and I even said you were not making a negative comment on Rex. It was just about the huge emphasis this board plays on "interpreting" what Rex says to mean this or that...its usually spun to be negative even though yours was not.

  4. I think winning a game in foxboro with our not yet fully manned defense and an offense with only number 2 and 3 receivers proves that Whaley has done his job well as GM. Brady would have made a difference yes, but seeing the patriots with a healthy D, a lot of momentum homefield and BB still lose handily meant that straight up, whaleys built a team can beat the patriots (minus their hall of fame QB.) and until they start handing out HOF QB's thats about the best he can do.

Whaleys FA defensive pick ups look good and have always looked good, often better than our draft picks ie zach brown, alexander, graham, gilislee etc. Even though drafting watkins and giving up 3 picks for a guy whos brittle has finally been realized as a mistake ( my take that draft was to trade back GET AN EXTRA PICK and draft K.Benjamin ) no one could have for seen Watkins as "injury prone". whaleys mistake simply was over paying in a deep wr draft where he could have made out like a bandit with a trade back and ODB or Benjamin.

Now the 2 problems from this year and last, have been reduced to 1. I always pondered but couldnt "prove" if Roman offense was the issue. His schemes always seemed like they stalled our offense with bursts of points here and there thanks to tyrods deep ball. Now its clear his running game was crap and "genius" or not, it never took hold and even looked worse this year. Contrast this to Ryans D actually starting to live up to expectations and you can see one has an upward trend to match its vaunted history, the other seemed to be good for a couple years in SF only to get progressively worse with time.

the other main issue and last piece of the puzzle holding us back from the playoffs is so simple. I saw it sunday lying in the middle of the field. It was just out there in the open for everyone else to see and I thought "if only Tyrod could see it too" what was it? Well I just said what it was, it was literally the middle of the field! People in Bills uniforms kept running down and across it but unless they got near the sideline tyrod seemed to not notice their existence. He still does not understand the ease and yardage associated with the seam pass. Unless a receiver has a sideline next to him and or is completely stopped and turned around, tyrod just wont throw it there. His sideline game and deep ball are great, it confounds me how the easiest pass in football, a pass that both Fitzpatrick lived on and even Rob Johnson could throw, is something tyrod doesnt even try.

When and if Tyrod can ever see and use the middle of the field the Bills will start rolling and will make it easily into the playoffs.

We would not have gotten OBJ in a trade back for one. We would have had to stay put to get him and even then it was said they liked Ebron in that spot more and probably would have gone Ebron.

And again, we didn't trade three picks to move up to get Sammy...we gave up 1 additional first and a 4th. We were using that years first on somebody, it wasn't an expense associated with moving up.

We win one game on the road against the Patriots - playing the third string quarterback and we have vanquished ten horrible years of drafting, poor coaching, and poor scouting? Sorry, I'm still not sold, talk to me in December?

What does 10 years and Whaley have to do with one another? Not saying he is justified and saying Whaley redeemed himself, but to mention 10 years in a thread about Whaley who had nothing to do with like 7 of those 10 years is pretty silly.

  5. Which is exactly how he should feel. He coached a damn good game, he always seems to against the Pats.

Every week people on this board make threads to over analyze anything Rex says...to twist it into a negative. People were making moronic posts about how his joke on Edelman took away from game prep while completely ignoring Rex was in the room for his own mandated interview as soon as Edelmans was done and had nothing to do with taking time from something else.

Just gets real old with the over the top analysis of Rex statements. The OP here didn't start a negative thread about his comments (which might be a first on this board overall), but its again just more over analysis of pretty meaningless post game interview.

He said it felt great, but kept it in perspective and acknowledged they were missing their best player in Brady. Nothing more to see here.

And as much as I loved the win, we are clearly going to need to do more offensively when we meet in a few weeks in Buffalo. We wont beat a pissed off Brady led Pats team with 16 points even if our D plays lights out. I do think we can win the game, but our Offense needs to finish more drives because I can't see any team holding Brady to under 20 this year once he gets back.

  6. Did you guys catch Rex Ryan's press conference where he said this about three times??? The second time he said it he kind of rubbed the side of his nose and smirked.

I think the whole game yesterday was a result of Rex telling his players that the loss of Sammy, or Dareus, or Ragland or Shaq...etc. is not an excuse. The team concept is more important than any one part.

The national media has been harping on the Patriots and their winning without Tom Brady. I'm pretty sure Rex was saying this repeatedly to reemphasize the fact that no single player makes up the Bills (not Sammy, or Dareus or our draft picks).

I do like the notion of the players gelling together as a team and not relying on any one player to achieve success.

Why is there always got to be some cryptic hidden meaning in what Rex always says? Every single quote gets analyzed over and over again to try and make it mean something other than what it blatantly states.

I mean it came across pretty clear that he was saying the win felt good, he knows they were missing Brady and this isn't the same team he will face in Buffalo next meeting, but it still feels good to get this win in Foxboro.

  7.

Luck might be the most over rated QB I have ever seen in my life. That does NOT mean he is a bad QB, I am saying he is so freaking over rated. He has an atrocious post season performance record, and I don't mean just win/loss. I mean he has more turnovers than Touchdowns, that his play greatly drops off, is rating is terrible, etc. Luck complies big stats in the regular season off his weak division and then gets crushed by good defenses.

He just doesn't make good decisions. Is he a starting QB, absolutely. Is he a good QB, absolutely. Is he a great QB...not a chance, at least not yet. He is anointed as if he's the best QB in the league by people yet he's never been close. Colts won more games with-OUT hm last year than WITH him. He is a turnover machine.

Hes a guy who actually gets more stats because of his mistakes. His turnovers put them behind often and they have to keep throwing his way back into the game. Defenses soften up later in the game and he gets late game scores while down multiple scores.

If Luck can figure out how to not make so many bad decisions and reign in his turnovers, he could be special. Until then, he is Jeff George part 2. Jeff was one of the most gifted passers in the game during his time, but his achilles heal was always mental and poor decision making. When I watch Luck, I see Jeff George with the ability to also run. I see a guy living on his draft hype still of being the greatest prospect since Manning but isn't living up to it. I see a guy who regressed last year and hasn't shown any growth as a passer over last 2 years. I see a guy who's personal performance plummets in the post season.

I don't see the highest paid QB ever or a guy who deserves it. I don't see a HOF player by any means. I don't see the guy everyone tells me he is.

Doesn't mean he wont get there, but right now he is no where near what the fantasy football GM's tell me he is because he scores for them in Fantasy.

I am going to restate everything I have already stated about Luck above in the last post I made in this thread. Most Over Rated QB I have ever seen in this league. Plays more like Jeff George (all the tools to be Elite but lacks the mental game and is too mistake prone) than a future HOF QB like everyone wants to crown him because he scores fantasy points.

  8. The trade for Shady was good for many reasons but thats a different thread. With Shaq I have to agree with you in that the injury seemed to be well known and then DW's presser immediately after draft in hind sight throws gas on fire. Without the presser that Shaq is day one starter I think all of us would rationalize away the loss of 1/2 of Shaq's rookie season.

Ok, here is my exact point in my other thread about the medical staff and what I mentioned here.

Whaley is NOT a physician by any means. Whaley did NOT make a diagnosis on his availability or his shoulder. Our Medcial staff did...Rex, Whaley, and the Medical Staff have all said this publicly right after the draft. But here we are again blaming Whaley because our medical staff screwed something else up.

So I will ask the question again...when does the training and medical staff start getting held accountable for mistakes?

  9. Kevin Everett probably agrees with every word of this. Dez Bryant, Kevin Durant, Julian Edelman, and Julio jones probably will, too, when they read it.

Also, how were you privy to the medical advice given with respect to shaq Lawson prior to the draft?

Because Rex, Whaley, and the medical staff all publicly stated during interviews after the draft that our medical staff cleared Shaq and said the shoulder would be fine and wouldn't need surgery.

Im fine with taking Shaq even if we knew he would need surgery because it was a short time out and non career impacting. However, that doesn't change the fact they were wrong on their recommendation when other teams said he would need the surgery. Its the fact these things keep getting bumbled that I am tired of.

  10.

Is Whaley completely powerless in this scenario? If he keeps getting bad information, isn't it his job to get better staff reporting to him? And if he doesn't, isn't he ultimately responsible for these failures?

I dont disagree with that...thats why I am saying they need to make a change. I seriously doubt it happens in season...but it should at the end after they botched the Shaq diagnosis, failed to get Sammy ready despite more than enough time for his injury, and the many mistakes they did with McCoy, Taylor, Sammy, etc last season.

  11. What did they do wrong regarding Sammy?

Is Sammy playing? Was he 100% for the season opener like they said he would be? Did they properly handle his injury last year where instead of just sitting him a week and getting past it they kept playing him until it got worse and had to miss multiple games after they also let him play hurt and at a lower level for several games?

What did they do right with Sammy? Name one thing.

  12. Fans love to fire people.

Hmmmmm...so because I am a fan, that the erases the continuous mistakes our Trainers and Medical staff have made? Thanks for the input.

Its hilarious how this board completely over exaggerates the most stupid things like Rex's joke on Edelman and tries to spin that as if we are somehow now under prepared for the game because of it. But when an entire department has been continuously inept you guys just ignore them because you don't know their names and they don't speak at a podium and they don't play on gameday.

How this board just completely ignores the utter incompetence of our medical and training staff is beyond me. Not to mention the more stupid posts where they assign Whaley the blame for their mistakes. Like how Whaley gets crap for drafting Shaq yet they completely ignore the facts that both the medical staff and Whaley both confirmed that our medical staff said nothing was concerning about the shoulder and he wouldn't miss time. Whaley based his decision on their opinion, he's not a physician, they are and its their job to gvie accurate information for the GM to base his decisions on. Of course, we all know the story...they were wrong again, but Whaley gets the blame and the medical staff gets yet another complete pass on being wrong, inept, and a problem for this team.

Its time to clean house in regards to the medical and training staff. This isn't an excuse to justify our record, this is about a department who has made too many mistakes and its negatively impacting this team.

  13. Possibly but I don't think so. If any of the reports are true, I think hiring Hue Jackson and keeping Schwartz would have this team in a better place.

I am not ready to give up on Rex, however I do have to admit having a combo of Hue and Schwartz sounds pretty good right about now. What Schwartz is doing for Philly is exactly what we need right now on defense and ironically is exactly what he did for us in his one year here too. I don't think I have ever missed a Coordinator as much as I miss Schwartz.

  14. I have been saying this for a long time now...why does this team have so much bad luck with keeping its talent healthy and on the field?

I got flamed during the off season and preseason for bringing this up and one of the main arguments back against me was Sammy Watkins recovery and him liking our trainers. Yet here we are again...Sammy just like last year, came back too early and wasn't ready and now instead of being healthy his problem lingered and now is missing more time.

McCoy last year too, Taylor, etc...our guys keep being put out there and cleared by our trainers before they are ready. When are they going to be held accountable for that when they really need to just sit the player to let it heal a week or two. Over and over again these mistakes happen, and our doctors and trainers also cleared Shaq and said he wouldn't need surgery and right out the gate it gets prove otherwise.

How much evidence needs to continue to pile up that our GM and coaches are being handicapped by bad decisions, information or poor recovery efforts on our players by our medical staff and trainers? We are either the most unlucky team in history (which isn't off the table lol) or our medical and training staff just aren't doing a good job.

People want to hold Rex and Whaley responsible for making decisions based on what the Medical staff and Trainers tell them...but when do they get to face the music? Its getting ridiculous around here, they can't keep anyone healthy...they can't get anyone healthy...they can't properly evaluate the medical risk of prospects. Im still looking around to see what exactly they have done well to have kept their jobs.

    1. Players never come back healthy before expected.

    2. Players rarely come back when expected and in full recovery.

    3. Players frequently come back later than expected and often still not at 100%.

    4. They frequently put our guys back out there before 100% and either see the injury become worse or see it linger on for long periods of time.

    5. They were completely wrong in the advice they gave to Whaley about Shaq's shoulder.

I mean none of the above has anything to do with coaching or our GM. It can't all be bad luck when the one constant through the years is this terrible medical staff and training staff. I don't care if the players like them, doesn't make them effective at their job. I can think of tons of terrible Head Coaches players loved, didn't make them good coaches.

Its time some heads start roll in these departments IMO.

  15. Thanks for injecting a dollop of sanity into the discussion. I note that the OP has chosen for his screen name an alter ego of one of the most polarizing, low talent, egomaniacal performers around today. Coincidence?

Thanks, its not always easy around here lol.

When are our trainers and medical staff going to face some accountability? They keep putting our players out there before they are ready so injuries just linger and linger. They also told Whaley and the FO that Shaq was all good and wouldn't need surgery...wrong again. People blame Whaley and Rex, but what about the guys making the assessments he has to make decisions on?

  16. It still doesn't justify what we gave up. He would need to be twice as good as the rest of those guys. He's not.

Im not saying it wasn't a gamble, or even saying we should have made the trade. I was simply stating that he was right on Watkins talent, and the kid had zero injury concerns coming out of college, so no way Whaley knows this is gonna happen with Watkins in terms of health issues. But a 100% Sammy has been outright dominant and exactly what this team needs, its just unfortunate its worked out the way it has.

And again, everyone is judging this all after the fact...going into the draft there were questions about OBJ's size and how it would translate to the NFL, Kelvin was super raw, Cooks was also tiny, etc. Watkins was a significant notch above the other WR prospects during the draft and that is when the decisions were made. You can't hold the unlucky health status over Whaleys head. And all the other top WR's in that draft have also missed significant time.

I mean look at all the wrath people have over Shaq missing time, yet a lot of those same people cry we didn't take OBJ who also had to miss the first part of his rookie season with an injury. lol

  17. Trading first and fourth round picks to move up to take Sammy was not necessary in a draft with a strong group of WRs. That is a gamble that has not paid off.

Sammy is still the best WR in that draft when healthy. Everyone is always gaga over OBJ, but he is very inconsistent and when Sammy was healthy last year he was uncoverable. OBJ makes those flashy one handed grabs, but Sammy is the more overall talented WR.

So in a great WR class, we got the best WR who at the time did NOT have injury concerns. Cant fault Whaley for getting unlucky on Sammy's health thus far. The kid is special when healthy and if he had been healthy this whole time I would think you would look at the gamble differently on whether it paid off.

  18. It was a bad draft for QBs so you don't invest on the best of the bunch and hope he's the savior. They should've kept Fitz and waited until the following year when they could've tried to trade up for Bortles instead of Sammy or picked Derek Carr.

Except you don't know that. If you knew that they you would be a professional NFL scout. So you didn't know that the draft would be "bad" for every QB in the NFL. You assumed it would be true, but that doesn't make it fact. No one knows...if people knew the future of each player, guys like Brady don't get to the 6th round before being drafted. So just because you didn't feel there was a home run QB in that draft class doesn't mean there was certainly no one worth picking. In fact, multiple QB's still had 1st round grades, some projected in the top half of the first round. They don't get those grades by default because they are a 5th round talent but due to lack of QB depth they just give them a first grade.

Every year its the same thing over and over again..."Next years draft for QB's is so much better". Then when that draft gets here, they say the exact same thing...dont take one this year, next years is better...this happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR. In fact, in the draft before EJ everyone said wait till next year when the QB class is so much better. So this stupid statement that repeats every single year by people who have no idea how to grade a QB as a prospect of "wait til next year" is worth about as much as the bag of crap I picked up from behind my dogs this morning.

  19. If were being honest here. Outside of maybe 1 or 2 good FA pickups his drafts and personnel decisions have been below average. I see people every day claiming how he is one of the "best GM's in football". What a load of crap. What exactly has this guy done to get that title?

Idc what you say, he drafted EJ. Picking a 1st round QB in possibly the worst QB class in the last 15 years was awful decision making. He then supported EJ and tried to get him weapons, that ended up failing big time. Watkins has been an injury prone nightmare. His 2016 draft has already had 2 guys out for the year and 1 guy who will miss half. Karlos williams was a disaster. Darby has prob been his best pick but he has only had 1 good season.

Our WR depth and oline depth is a complete joke, he has done NOTHING to address this so far. Sammy went into training camp injured and we still didn't pick anyone up. Clay has been a waste of money, and McCoy is aging fast.

Whaley is not the guy that should be staying with this team for the future. We are 1-2 soon to be 1-3 and does anyone really see this team making the playoffs this year? What do we even have to look forward to? Does anyone trust this guy picking another QB in the draft? B/c I don't.

Even before Rex, Whaley should be gone. New GM can find his own staff and scouts.

So what information did YOU have that told YOU that Watkins was going to have injury issues? Because guess what, injuries were NOT a concern about Watkins. But I guess you are fully capable of predicting the future, therefore you expect our GM to also be able to predict the future when there are NO signs of an issue. He was 100% right about Sammys talent, we have had bad luck with him not consistently being healthy...there is no logical argument you can make to blame that on Whaley...not one, so stop.

We traded down to get EJ, so you should pay attention to the whole picture rather than cherry pick the things you want to crush him on. And pretty much is scene as Buddy was behind picking EJ, so decision is not all on Whaley.

And its somehow bad to try and develop a QB by providing him weapons? Especially when we had an ascending defense already and at that time needed to improve the offense? Pretty dumb to think its a mistake to put weapons around your young QB when your offense was devoid of playmakers in the first place.

Karlos Williams was a great pick...The kid made his own decisions that led to his own demise. Again, a GM can only know and predict so much. The man knows talent and found talent late in the draft, and those guys are there late because they do have risks.

McCoy is playing great, why you would choose to complain about him is absurd...and we traded a perennially injured LB for him who has barely played since we traded him.

Lets see, Whaley also found many big contributors in Free Agency, during the season, and in the draft. He also traded a bum for Hughes straight up. He also resigned and kept some of our better players. He also got rid of Marios dumb contract. He also negotiated a great deal with our QB that is both fair to Taylor but not an anchor on this team, something MANY other teams have failed miserably at doing (See 49ers, Cowboys, Bears, Dolphins, etc) with QB's.

And you can only add so many players and fill so many wholes in a season, and when he took this team over it had lots and lots of holes. And we have been drafting guys at WR, we have taken WR's in the drafts all 3 years and got guys like Sammy, Woods and Goodwin, not to mention some of our other young guys. But you can't invest a high pick in a WR every year when you also have other holes. Our draft this year was looking great until bad luck derailed our top 2 guys, but that doesn't mean long term its a failure either.

NO GM is perfect, but your post is very far off from being a fair assessment of his performance as a GM.
