  1. Its simple. Complete team victories the first two weeks covered up for limiting quarterback play. EJ did enough to win the first two weeks. Today, they needed the QB to make some professional football decisions and throws and he couldn't do it. Awareness is an issue with Manuel.

This is exactly the same thing EJ did at FSU. His team had superior talent and took advantage of an awful ACC. When his team actually needed him, he looked like he did today.

He locks onto his WR and hopes he gets wide open. Then the ball is usually high. If the WR is not open he has no pocket awareness, starts to panic and implodes. That's what he does. Hopefully SD is a really good team and we don't have to rely on EJ to ever win us a game because he's simply incapable.

  2. Then please chime in with your well thought out scientific study of EJ titled 'woulda shoulda coulda." It's surprising when someone tries to break down film people think their opinion of what ought to be trumps what actually is going on.

This has to work both way then becasue every draft "expert" and "QB guru" all thought EJ was a project and said he had trouble with progressions, pocket awareness and accuracy. Anyhoo, carry on.

  3. You are correct, Sir!

He doesn't pass the eyeball test or the smell test. I don't see a quality NFL QB in Manuel no matter how hard I squint or hold my nose.

Isn't he supposed to bring something to the table? Why does every Bills QB have to be some massive re-construction project from the ground up? It's ridiculous how blind people are when they can't admit a mistake has been made. Why aren't the Bills looking for a veteran QB to school the newbie? The fact that the Bills have Tuel and Lewis as backups just shows how inept this organization really is! The new owner can't get here soon enough. The house needs a total cleaning.

The greatest thing about this thread is who started it. If there is one thing PTR is, it's a blinded, cool aid drinkin, unconditional Bills fan. Good for him and other like him.

You've been around here long enough to expect these kinds of threads. Anyone who watched EJ's act in college knew that he was gonna bust quickly. I made my thoughts well known on draft day and that was pretty much the last time I was active on this board. His selection was nothing but desperation just like this PTR excuse thread. Jimbo dumbed down the offense for him for him at FSU and made it a one read offense. Jimbo knew he could simply out-man anyone in the weak ACC and it worked until they need EJ to pull one out himself like every good/great QB. They needed him in the NC st game and he couldn't muster a point against a terrible team the entire second half... and while you're at it go watch the Gators game that year and you'll see a QB unable to carry a team when it's desperate. EJ has always been incapable of putting a team on his back, despite having an incredible amount of talent around him, and of course it wasn't going to change in the NFL.

The fact that Whaley, Marrone and whoever else "had say" thought it was okay to go into this season with the trio of fail is beyond me.

PTR, keep battling man. Cue CB97's, "he got farther than you in life dude!"

"The training sessions include all aspects involving the quarterback position, but Manuel’s was specifically designed to work on three areas of improvement: his throwing motion, understanding how the ball comes out of his hand and shortening his stride step."

Things usually end well when QBs try to change everything about the way they throw the ball.

  5. QB A - Last year in college: 259 for 382 (67.8%), 3,581 yards, 9.4 ypa, 25 tds, 9 ints, 163.4 rating, 87 rushes for 272 yards, 3.1 ypc, 6 tds. 83th ranked Strength of Schedule

    Combine results: 6'5", 232 lbs., 9 3/8" hands, 4.93 40, 32.5" vertical.

    QB B - Last year in college: 263 for 387 (68%), 3,392 yards, 8.8 ypa, 23 tds, 10 ints, 156 rating, 103 rushes for 310 yards, 3.0 ypc, 4 tds. 68th ranked SOS.

    Combine results: 6'5", 237 lbs., 10 3/8" hands, 4.65 40, 34" vertical.

Hint, one was a reach and the other was thought to be a top pick all offseason. The draft is stupid at times. :)

Man you are trying really hard lately old friend. How about listing the talent that each QB played with? How about throwing up FSU's current QB's stats up there? Ya know, the guy who won the Heisman/National Title with the same talent.

UCF beat better teams and lost by 3 to one of the best teams in the SEC. '12 FSU beat 2 ranked teams and one was #15 No Illinois who had no business being ranked. They lost to an okay Florida at home by 11.

Sounds like you got a Lefvour for EJ.

  6. Watkins was the best player in the draft IMO and has been CFBs best play maker for 3 years. Cyrus will be the steal of the draft. I really wanted Borland over Brown but I know his shoulder was a concern. If the shoulder checks out fine, Borland is twice the player Brown is. Still I thought Kareem Martin or Terrance Brooks would've been a better selection there. I do like Cockrell and CR is a beast who needs to keep his weight down.

Overall I give it a B. I think all of the players will be contributors with Sammy and CK being future stars but not grabbing a QB is mind blowing. There were so many chances to get a QB cheap and they passed. Murray single-handedly won games in the SEC which was something EJ couldn't do in the ACC. Mettenberger's growth was noticable form his Junior year and McCarron has huge game experience. All three were better than EJ in college.

  7. I don't think a preseason knee injury that resurfaced in week 14 combined with a direct shot in week 5 qualifies as an "extensive injury history". He also never missed time in high school or at Florida State.

I think it would be more appropriate to say that avoiding contact with the knee is key for him; the other statement was a bit misleading.

    He didn't?

    From Draft Profile:

In 2012, got knocked out of Florida game with a head injury but started all 14 games that season. In 2011, separated non-throwing shoulder in the 2011 Oklahoma game. Missed the Clemson game the next week and did not start against Wake Forest the following week. Also fractured fibula in left leg during the Champs Sports Bowl that season. In 2009, missed spring season with a broken index finger suffered on the first day of practice.

  8. Is there only one QB on the roster? You obviously don't like the backup plan, but OBD definitely has one.

I think we can both agree that neither backup will ever develop into anything. EJ is hardly a sure thing and also has an extensive injury history. Drafting a QB to develop and give EJ some competition seems like a better plan. But hey, OBD clearly knows what they're doing.

  9. It doesn't take 3 years to rebuild and you don't have to rebuild through the draft.

Buddy Nix was a complete failure/buffoon and should've never been hired.

EJ Manuel is the same QB he was at FSU...an average one.

Going to a Bills game is less about football and more about getting completely drunk and making a fool out of yourself for about 75% of the fan base.

Every year, less and less Bills fans convince themselves that this is the year.

  10. LOL. Like you ever change your tune. You're a broken record. Funny how you invisible you are when the team is winning. Then you decide to crawl out of your hole when you smell a turd.

    PTR

I'm sorry, did I miss something? Did this team win something?

Unlike you, I am able to change my tune. The day Marrone was hired I was on here loving the pick and taking a ton of heat for my opinion. The Bills could've hired RIch Cotite and you would've been posting the same ol', same ol'.

So where's your analysis of the Bills roster & season forecast?

PTR doesn't give analysis. He only attacks those who don't agree with his agenda.

  11. Did you by any chance call into the John Murphy show this past week? The one who was talking about the "garbage" they are talking about with EJ? Basically the caller espoused that the Bills were hyping up EJ and he was going to suck. The caller talked about how he watched EJ all year at FSU and did not believe he had what it takes. Sound eerily like you...

I wouldn't know where to even find the John Murphy show. Do you think that I'm the only one out there that has this opinion about EJ? I know a lot of people who actually watch college football that think the same thing. Hell, FSU fans are saying that the guy who is replacing EJ, Jaemis Winston, can do everything that EJ couldn't do. Meaning win games by himself.
