No I wasn’t drinking at all and its ok if you guys don’t have as high of expectations with this team as I do (we did lose if you don’t remember, and while Howard wasn’t the reason we lost, he didn’t help us win). Even though our O played well, it was more of a fluke than the norm for this team. Fitz played the best game of his life and Baltimore was having an extremely poorly coached, off day – and we still lost. If you DVRed the game go back and watch the 1st Q, Howard was routinely beat, and multiple times left face down on the ground. He was clearly outmatched – which I understand, he is an undrafted rookie who is likely on this team bc of nepotism (one of Gailey’s GT guys). - His poor play was covered up by Fitz playing lights out. But what happens next week when Fitz doesn’t play like a HOFer? Howard couldn’t hold his own at all, however last year Meredith never played that bad – he held up better vrs Peppers last year than Howard did v. Suggs.

The fans right here are why the Team sucks

The dumbest move this FO could do this offseason is pass on Andrew Luck. There is no debating that. He is far and away the best QB out there. There are no super stud LTs or OLBs (Quinn could be but he is suspended which will hurt him). Clayborne is a solid DE, but to say he is better than Luck is simply stupid. Heyward takes plays off. Please God dont tell me we should draft another RB/DB/WR. Who is left? Its Luck or someone who really isnt worth #1. Now if Luck isnt available (doesnt declare, we dont pick #1) take someone else. One or two good games from Fitz doesnt mean we dont need an upgrade at the most important position. -
The sooner the NFL gets rid of replay the better. That video is 6 and a half mins long. after all that they still make the wrong call. Id rather just live with the wrong call in real time than have them stop the game, review it (where the refs arent even able to watch the play in slow motion) then get the call wrong still. At least it seems less rigged if they dont review it.

With the first pick in the 2011 draft the Bills select....
High Mark replied to DC Grid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love Carimi but I dont seem his a #1 overall, or really even a LT. At LT he will leave you a bit disappointed. RT is his home in the NFL if you want PB caliber production. I have heard the BC Tackles Coztansa is good, I havent caught a BC game this year though. I dont think there is a top flight LT in this draft, which really stinks for us, there seems to have been 3-4 each in the last 5 drafts. -
You were probably saying the same thing about Maybin 1 year ago today. Spiller was never an every down RB in college, he continues to bounce things outside, and he will never break a tackle. So is Spiller actually good, and Gailey an idiot for not playing him? or is SPiller a bust and a bad pick by a bad FO.... choose one.

I watched Corodo a lot today. He was terrible. He was torched on almost every pass play where I focused on him (5-7). He was routinely face down on the ground after whiffing on his man. Fitz made this line look good today by being able to find open receivers instantly. I dont think he held the ball for maore than 2 seconds all day. If he had, he would have been getting crushed from the right side. - I read everyone else comments and everyone else seems to think he was amazing. From my experience most fans dont pay attention to the details while watching - like how everyone was blaming switching to the 3-4 as why our D stunk, when in reality we rarely ran the 3-4 at all. The Jax game Kelsay played OLB in a 4-3 the entire game. 2 weeks later, some article came out about the team switching to the 4-3, and everyone was all up in arms. My point is no one really watches, so take others comments with a grain of salt. Howard played very poorly.

I’m not really sure what you are getting at, I have been on your side of this argument since the beginning? Also, I never said take one of those guys early. But if we are going to spend a later round pick on a WR it might as well be a 6-5 230lber who can run a (reported) 4.3 and has made a pretty damned good catch in a big game (Pryor). Maybe he never becomes anything more than a 3rd-4th WR, but its worth a shot.

Dear Lord, can nobody around here tell the difference between what it takes to be a good College QB and what it takes to be an NFL QB? I hate hearing about this QB and that QB every time they play on TV. If you cant tell the difference just don’t post about it! There is a reason these guys never get drafted and when they do they play WR.

Bills on the front page of ESPN NFL!
High Mark replied to bizell's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This line really struck me… “there's only about 1,500 jobs in the NFL. There's more than 1,500 guys that can play at the NFL level." Considering how putrid we are at every position, and figuring HOFers like Kurt Warner have come out of these minor leagues, what is stopping the Bills from signing the UFL All Star Team at the end of the season? What’s the worst that could happen… we become the worst team in the league? Well too late bc we already are. Focus on the younger guys who are getting their chance in what could essentially be viewed as a second Senior college season. Even if they are just depth players they improve our team because we currently have no depth. Heres to signing the UFL All Star Team. -
Your comparisons are no better than his, and in reality probably worse. Randall Cunningham is a HOFer because of his passing – not running. Yes he was a mobile QB, but he is also one of the best pure passers in the history of the game. Not to mention he played in an era where the most successful offense was the run and shoot – an offense heavily reliant on mobile QBs – which is not used today. Second, Vince young was much more of a passer while in college, and a 4 year starter. He threw for over 3000 as a SR and 26 tds. He added 1000 on the ground with 12 TDs. Compare that to Newton how has more RUSHING attempts than passing. Stats aside, watching him vrs Young it was obvious Young was much farther along as a passer. Newton is more compared to a Pat White or Brad Smith (size aside). How have those guys panned out? (my point here is I would love for the Bills to nad Newton or Pryor to play WR like Smith, not to be an out-of-the-league-in-3-4-years QB)
-
I will make the fairly obvious assumption that his association was not based on race but rather the fact that they are both big, SEC qbs that are going to suck nuts in the NFL (or did suck nuts in Russels case)
-
I wouldnt bother with Locker or Ponder. Neither are very good at all. Mallet is iffy. Im all for holding out for Luck if you think we will have the top pick the next two years too.
-
We have drafted enough running backs already!!!!!!!!!
-
That was my first thought too OP. I think its already unbelievable how tight they call the pass interferences and D holding calls. Go back to the days when the DBs could actually cover nad I think you will see many less opportunities to take someones head off. Not to mention a much better brand of football.
-
Then go back and rewatch the Jags game - thats what we ran the whole game. Kelsay shouldnt be on this team.

What GM / Coach tandem would you look to hire?
High Mark replied to Bronc24's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I own the team I make Myself Gm, while hiring multiple assistant GMs (thus having say 3 "GMs" instead of 2, and me being able to stop them from drafting Jokes like Maybin) and instantly hire Jim Harbaugh. As for OC/DC, I really like the idea of getting former HCs - like a dick lebou, bc A they have experience at HC and should be smarter, and B If you O or D is dominant no team is going to give them a second chance anytiem soon. AKA - If Singletary gets the Boot, hello new DC -
Bell hasnt been playing bad enough to bench him for Howard. He has been pretty good actually. If we improve our RT and C to the point we can helpt out our LT on every play, I think he could be servicable at LT.

Codero Howard to Start At Right Tackle...
High Mark replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FWIW Davis has stunk it up at RT whne I have watched, I never liked him during the draft either. But, the other OLman the 9ers took - Mike Iupati, whom I really really liked - has been playing like an all pro. His pulls on run plays open huge hoges for their run game and he manhandles guys on plays - so physically dominant. I wasnt calling for Iupati specifically at 9, but I sure was hoping and dreaming he would end up on our roster (ie with a trade down from 9, trade up from 42) If I was given a choice of Spiller or Iupati I would have went Iupati in a heart beat. -
I want Maybins brother
-
I would kill (a dog or two) to get Vick on this team.

Exactly, but who is to say the Jags dont come away with a rookie QB in the 2011 draft and make it to the AFC Championship game next season because they have a competant roster around said rookie QB? (the same way the Jets did for 4ish years before drafting Sanchize) Maybe they "didnt like any of the QBs available" and in the meantine have been building their lines and rosters properly. Meanwhile, the Bills have been drafting/playing/running out of town or not resigning RBs and DBs for the past 10 years. So when we end up getting our Franchise QB, we will have ZERO TALENT OF ANY KIND AROUND HIM on offense and THE WORST DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE. So whats our excuse, we didnt have a superstar QB so we didnt bother having competant players to take up the other 52 roster spots? Everyone loves picking out this years Rams and saying "look what Bradford has done!" Well yea he has been a major factor, but its no coincidence that they drafted 2 top Ts, spent big bucks on a top tier C in free agency, have one of the leagues best RBs, a couple top picks on the DL, and a great defensive HC. Now that they added the QB they are winning, but without those other parts they would still be loosing with Bradford in there. PS: I am all for taking a QB this year even while the rest of our team sucks. I actually think thats a good thing to do bc the QB can learn and develope over the 3 year rebuilding phase. The problem I have is Luck is staying in school and I am a little worried with Mallet. That said I dont see a Suh, Joe Thomas, Orakpo, or C Johnson, (ie obvious stud) in this draft at any position, let alone OL DL LB. That leaves me being totally ok with risking the #1 overall on Mallet even though I am pretty certain he doesnt have the accuracy to succeeed in the NFL like we would like him to. AKA I am so desperate for a QB I would draft Mallet who I think is gonna end up like Losman because of the small chance he may actually be good.

Why is Brandon Merriweather not suspended?
High Mark replied to earthtobrint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was me! that was me!!! -
I think Bosellis point about the spread have some validity. Thats why I would like to focus on the teams that DO run the ball to draft our OL. Teams like Alabama/Wisconsin/Iowa/Oklahoma to a degree. Maybe not put an emphasis on it when looking at LTs because there you want good pass blocking, but at the other 4 OL spots, if they cant run block with the ebst of them, then they shouldnt be on the team.
-
I like the approach. The Jets have done the EXACT SAME THING just way better. -Draft studs on the OL and DL. -Resign your talented veterans. -Actively pursue Studs and quality in FA like B. Scott, C. Pace, LT, and J. Leonard -Make painfully obvious trades that should be made like a 5th for a superstar WR and 3rd for very very good CB -Trade up in the draft to get the guy you want and need. -Play awesome smash mouth defense -Run the ball down other teams throat -Make AFC Championship game with a rookie QB who stunk it up as a rookie -Be atop the NFL in QBs Sophomore season, where QB is playing lights out. Same model, different execution. PS: Meanwhile, there is a PB QB and PB OLman that Im sure are available for trade in Vick and Mankins – all we have to do is pony up. Yet its 90 minutes form 4 oclock and I doubt the Bills make the painfully obvious moves that would immediately improve this team. Both players could be mainstays for the next 4-5 years (and likely even longer for Mankins) and we could obtain both while keeping out likely to be top 5 pick. I’m waiting for a sign of life Nix….

Trent Williams Owns Demarcus Ware
High Mark replied to BB Fan 4 LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, so he wasnt just a kick returner in college, I'll give you that. But he's not in college anymore....
