  1. While wrestling on the ground with a DB he'd been blocking, he threw a right uppercut, club-style blow.
  2. That was a clear breakup by Gilmore.
  3. As I said pregame in another thread, being a shutdown corner should be enough to put on his plate. Of course he is a gamebreaker so there's that too as a counterargument.
  4. That fat POS can't even bend his knees anymore.
  5. Moorman. At least he's not too injured to play.
  6. Better that it happened on first down so we can still overcome it. Also Thad had enough awareness to eat and protect the ball. Good damage control actually.
  7. Reminds me of the people absolving JP Losman for the strip/fumble against the Jets saying it was a bad play call. The ONLY bad thing that could happen on that play was a turnover. Run out of bounds for a loss, throw the ball out of bounds. Just don't toss an INT or get stripped of the ball. These players presumably have brains and the experience of having played football since little league. Bullcrap. Ask yourself what Freddy would have done in the exact same situation.
  8. As a professional there's a presumption of competence. I boss doesn't have to tell me to make sure I splice the red wire to the red wire.
  9. Does not absolve CJ. Coaches shouldn't have to spoon feed players every !@#$ing thought.
  10. Yes but that does not absolve CJ. I was screaming at the TV from the moment the handoff occurred. A slow motion trainwreck.
  11. After the pick by Lewis (did Easley give up on the play?) and the bonehead play by Spiller, I started having trauma flashbacks from previous decades. I imagined Leodis actually trying to field the Dolphins punt and I imagined Hackett calling a handoff instead of a kneel-down. Pretty much sucked all the joy out of a good first half.
  12. I'll call WTVH right now and make sure they don't mistakenly broadcast the Bills game. It would be terrible if someone there lost their job during the holiday season due to this kind of error.
  13. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/12/22/dolphins-got-unexpected-early-morning-wake-up-call/
  14. It's too bad that this team isn't better. If they were they wouldn't have to lean on McKelvin so heavily. No players (except wideouts) run as much as do cornerbacks. I wish that the Bills could mix in Jim Leon Hard a bit more often than they do. Too often they're behind or in a close game and have McKelvin returning in the hopes of a big play.
  15. To the bolded, I think it goes well beyond just the passing game. The play calling has been very predictable: the Bills run on first down more than any team in the league. They've also run the ball more than any team in the league, a whopping 180 times more often than the Atlanta Falcons. If you insist on running when the opponent knows you're going to run, then you've really stacked things against offensive success. Put differently, all things being equal, if a team runs when the opponent is expecting pass and passes when the opponent is expecting run, the chances of offensive success are high. The offensive game plans have been overly conservative. The intent might be to instill toughness and "protect" the rookie QB but the offensive doctrine has been counter-productive IMO. It's hard for an offense to be successful (at QB or in the trenches) when the defense is given, I say given, the large benefit of being able to predict on any given play whether that play is a run or a pass.
  16. I know Gilmore's play has steadily improved and I expect him to have an excellent career. I was commenting on the fact that I think that his personal technique includes a bit too much grabbing and tugging.
  17. I have no idea how much Moeaki will play but unlike those other guys, he doesn't have his roster spot because of the expectation that he will improve the special teams. I understand your point though and I hope he's used quite a bit. It's his first live action in quite some time so as you suggest they might bring him along slowly regardless of the fact that there's only 2 games left in the season.
  18. That sounds familiar. Isn't that from "The Lion Sleeps at Night?"
  19. In case you're serious, just like it's spelled. Mo-ee-ah-kee
  20. I wasn't that impressed with his game against Ohio but I heard he was epic against Ohio State. I'm surprised that he's generally viewed as a Top 10 prospect at this moment. Of course the vetting process is very very early yet. Got the game on, thanks Promo.
  21. Aside from the somewhat silly premise, don't sleep on Thad. He's a 4-year starter at Duke where he holds most of the passing records. He has great intangibles and has had some good looks in his short career. In contrast to his last start, he is much more familiar with the offense and his teammates and has had more prep time for this game. Miami's D is pretty tough but I don't see Thad falling on his face by any means. He's by nature an extremely competitive guy. I couldn't believe he came back from that shot in the ribs. My ribs are still sore from that shot.
  22. This topic would be a lot more clear if the OP had simply titled it "Draft a two-gap run stuffer." And yes, though the Bills run more of a one-gap scheme there are plenty of teams who utilitze a two-gap nucleus surrounded by one-gap scheme. Remember though that a two-gap run stuffer is one of the more rare types of football players out there, more rare than an elite pass rusher.
  23. The toss sweep is still a popular play run well by numerous teams. It doesn't seem to have a place in the Bills playbook. I can remember only a few instances where it was run this year. Fred Jackson is outstanding on this play. Tailbacks in general love it because they get the ball fairly deep where they can survey traffic and make a run choice. It's particularly a great play for tailbacks who are good cutback runners. BTW, the Bills also don't use the shovel pass even though that is a very effective play when used properly.
  24. If you've watched Mack you understand that you don't view him as a LB. You view him as a pass rusher. Here's one of the things about drafting Khalil Mack: The Bills have 2 elite inside pass rushers in Kyle Williams and Marcel Dareus. They have two pretty good edge rushers in Mario and Jerry Hughes. Then you have a DC who creates pressure schematically. Because of all of this, a fairly strong argument can be made that pass rusher is not really a Bills need. This actually goes counter to one of my main personal beliefs which is that you can never have enough good pass rushers and that if there is an elite one available that you have to seriously consider whether to draft him. BTW I don't know whether I'd consider Mack elite or not. I've only watched the condensed game against Ohio University and have yet to see his supposed masterpiece against Ohio State University. Regarding linebackers (as opposed to pass rusher) if the Bills could get someone as good as Lavonte David in the first round that wouldn't make me unhappy. Put him together with Kiko and you'd have something along the lines of what the Niners have with Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman: a pair of 3-down linebackers which is a commodity that very few teams have. Our 3rd down defense would improve immensely with one more good all-around linebacker. Manny's pretty good but he's a half step slow in coverage.
