  1. wherever Dick goes - his protectors are playing the injury card to defend him could it be that his training staff is incompetent? or maybe the injuyies are because his teams are "soft" due to country club training camps and indoor practices which do not prepare the players for the rigors of an NFL season.
  2. well welcome to the real world in 2008. Bugs Bunny is no longer on TV. the shows on TV and the internet don't just allude to raging hormones, but give a how-to primer that's a bit more cause for concern. but hey - if the kids get abused they can always get fixed by going to therapy.
  3. I'm glad they drafted OL early and they have a good chance of being very good. However, this team would be much closer to a playoff team right now (in spite of Dick) if they kept Peters and ockery and added the rookies. what they needed to add was an OL coach who has a clue how to best use his players. He totally bombed with a veteran group last year. Relying on Kugler to develop the rookies and mold 5 new guys into an effective working unit may be the biggest gamble of the season.
  4. you must have started watching the Bills just last year. The OL of the last 2 years performed light years better than the version of the 15 years before that. The line gave Trent time to throw and there were few outright jailbreaks. To answer your question, the OL might be better than last year if 2 rookies make the quantum leap to the NFL, a career backup at C suddenly turns into Kent Hull and a fat slow RT suddenly loses 60 lbs and gains the quickness and strength needed to handle speed rushers on his own at LT. or they hit a few bumps in the road and we are back to the seive we had for 15 years as the rookies learn and they look for a real LT.
  5. what's the problem with the age gap???? sure sounds like not too many of these posters have kids. the 5 year gap puts the kid at puberty can you spell "hormones" mentally challenged or not - the hormones are kicking in at that age nice harmless kid even as he starts experimenting with the youngsters.
  6. Our front office has no clue on what it takes to build a contender. Contenders don't trade away pro bowl LTs in their prime. TO was signed to a 1 yr deal for the sole purpose of selling tickets to the gullible Bills fan. From Ralph's perspective, mission accomplished.
  7. The OL is key. After 15 years, the Bills finally drafted some OL. However, they are again just treading water as they cut loose more lineman than they added, including a pro bowl LT. Walker is too fat and slow to be effective at LT and will be surprised if he is even on the team next year. His bloated contract will be another casualty. The season again turns on the C position. Miami paid big bucks for a guy that can handle big 3-4 nose tackles. The Bills went cheap and got a guy that got abused by big nose tackles. At least they have the option of starting Wood at C if Hangartner plays to his backup status, but don't expect any bold moves by this coaching staff.
  8. pass rush won't be a factor when they can't stop the run to get to a 3rd and long. Bills did nothing to improve the front 7s ability to stop the run. Adding a 225 lb DE and a 220 lb 5th round LB from last year will not help. If Stroud gets hurt, they are in serious trouble.
  9. there's 2 major holes in your response 1. Any 90 year old owner serious about winning a Super Bowl would have cut Dick loose and made it a priority to bring in a proven winner like Shannahan or Cowher. Why stay with a career loser when there are guys with multiple Super Bowl wins available. 2. Even if you think Dick can get it done with better players, where is the big move in free agency to bring in better players? They traded their best player at the most important non-QB position for a 1st and 5th. that's not getting better players. they are rolling the dice with Walker at LT. Their LB corp is small and below average - the improvement they hope to come from a 220 lb 5th rounder from last year. Their QB situation behind Edwards is pitiful. They made one flashy move in signing a 37 year old TO - remains to be seen if it was anything but a ticket selling PR move.
  10. you are correct the other AFC East coaches are strongly in favor of the Bills retaining Dick -- makes thier job a lot easier as evidenced by their sweep last year.
  11. hey - he likes receiving those text messages from his buds it gives him that warm fuzzy feeling
  12. all the teams in the AFC East have good coaching staffs and good front offices - EXCEPT the one headquartered at OBD. That's quite a disadvantage to overcome every week - and is why the Bills will again be cellar dwellars
  13. Bills fans are suckers. Ralph pissed off 90% of the fan base this year by keeping Dick. He signed TO to a one year deal and the fans not only gave him a pass on Dickie boy but are out in droves setting season ticket sales records. Ralph is no dummie - if he sells out the stadium after Dick goes 2-8 and 0-6 in division after 2008- he has free reign to pretty much keep Dick for this contract AND give him an extension. Performance on the field does not matter at all. Money in the bank does.
  14. Don't get your hopes up regardless of what Kelly says, Dick is here for the duration - no matter how bad the record is in 2009 -- unless Ralph is out of the picture. Dick is getting paid $6 mil for 3 years. Ralph wouldn't cut him loose because he had to eat $ 6mil in 2008 and won;t do it for $4 mil in 2009 either. People fail to understand that Dick orchestrated one of the greatest collapses in NFL history, going 2-8 and trashing a sure playoff spot. Bills won;t have the luxury of a 5-1 start in 2009, so the overall record will be closer to an extrapolation of that 2-8 finish from last year. Remember- It's tough to win in the NFL" - especially if Dick is your HC
  15. Michael Vick- not high on him as a prototype QB, but he would be better than anything we have as a backup right now. With a completely revamped OL, chances are high that Trent misses time to OL breakdowns. His real value comes in running the wildcat. force Turk to get his head out of his butt - what he ran last year as a wildcat was a joke. Vick provides a real run / pass option which will result in big plays for the offense. Bills have not made the playoffs in a decade - they need to maximize their chances in 2009 while TO is under contract.
  16. so by HONEST - you mean that it was OK for JJ to cheat just like the Pats were doing OK --I see how your logic works
  17. can;t tell if he can run an NFL route since he can not get off the line of scrimmage or identify a blitz or any other skill needed to be a WR but he is tall so he must be good
  18. that's what happens when you play without pads in an enclosed arena against soft coverage good thing those will be the same playing conditions Trent faces on Sundays.
  19. and the Bills still have not made the playoffs this century
  20. hard to see how they even hit that. to score TDs you have to attack the end zone and Turk and Trent have proven they won't even try to throw to the end zone. not sure if it's Turk play design, his play calling or Trent's fear of failure, but the team treats the end zone as radioactive on passing plays near the red zone.
  21. If he's not lazy - he should try a different routine because he is fat and slow He won't be able hide at LT from the speed rushers
  22. "It's hard to win in the NFL" obviously you do not subscribe to Dick's guiding light
  23. it would be like a commune - eh , comrade?
  24. how they do they get to 3rd and long when they can't stop the run??
