  1. Mike Williams was a bad pick at #4. He was a right tackle and would never be able to play LT. as we saw so clearly with the Peters saga, LTs command far more money than RTs. You do not spend the 4th pick in the draft and $40 million on a unmotivated RT with an eating disorder (who played for Mack Brown-no less) when a stud LT who hasn't allowed a sack since high school is still on the board. As noted above, when the Bills have addressed the OL, they have not done it very smartly.
  2. more likely our brilliant OL coach with zero experience couldn't figure out what blocking scheme to use with the largest OL in the league. The skins sure did not have a problem taking Dockery back for $26 mil the day after the Bills ran him out of town.
  3. sure they will struggle in the snow and wind, especially if their super smart coach never had them practice outside in the elements
  4. you are absolutely correct. there is no proof whatsoever that Detroit was the only possible trade partner. in fact, there is no proof that if the front office wasn't conducting a circle jerk, that they would have been able to generate some interest in Dockery so they could have traded him. the mere fact that Dockery signed the day after the Bills cut him indicates his services were valued quite highly by the Redskins and the Lions - and who knows how many others. keep up the good work!!
  5. here we go again - you stating as fact that no other team wanted to trade tough to assess when the Bills forgot to ask the rest of the league since they started the process so late on the contrary, it is likely the Redskins would have traded for him since they wanted him and did sign him to a big deal.
  6. If our coaching staff had an ounce of creativity and wisdom, they would have designed plays to force Evans into single coverage.. put him in motion, overload a zone, etc happens to every team in the league why is it just the Bills who can't get their best players the ball on a consistent basis??
  7. and after 9 years of failure- what makes you think Dick will change his entire personality and coaching style to become more aggressive??
  8. Lynch is a thug Fred is a better playmaker than Lynch- sports analysts know no more than you do - they just have a platform to spout their nonsense
  9. you hit the nail on the head. Dick plans how "not to fail" - and does so miserably. Good coaches plan how to win and be successful they use their playmakers to make plays - not hide and hope they don't make mistakes
  10. Redskins gave Dockery $26 mil over 5 years- with about $8 mil in new guaranteed money in 2009 & 2010. Dockery earned $18 mil of his $50 mil Bills contract in 2007 & 2008. The Redskins are paying less in total but the deals are pretty comparably. Sure looks like the Redskins would have been willing to deal something to get Dockery if the Bills had actually shopped him earlier than the day before his bonus was due. This really looks like the Bills finally realized in Feb they needed to re-do Peters deal in 2009- and that Dockery's deal would be cost prohibitive. why they couldn't have figured this out in January is beyond me. the real galling part is they screwed up the Peters deal and ran both guys out of town.
  11. Lynch has limited trade value he is one infraction from a long term suspension. RBs that can't remember the playbook, can't pass block, don't hit the right holes and are constantly in trouble with the law don't generally generate high trade value (except in the eyes of the homers constantly defending him)
  12. Your conclusion is incorrect. 1. Bellicheat and probably 75% of the other NFL coaches would have gotten the Bills to the playoffs in 2008 after a 5-1 start. Dick screwed it up by getting overly conservative with Trent. 2. The Bills do have some playmakers who were wasted by the coaches in 2008. They were not put in position to make plays. Here are a few examples a. Roscoe is a very dangerous player in the open field. The coaches have completely dropped the ball on exploiting his talents on offense. screeens, reverses any way to get him some touches to force teams to defend him. that's all coaching stupidity b. McElvin was a top 12 pick- the coaches refused to put him on the field as an injured McGhee got continuously torched by Ted Ginn. This was more coaching stupidity. c. The CB group of Greer, McGhee and McElvin are all above average press cover corners - but the braintrust continues to play them 10 yards off the WR wasting their cover skills. They can't make plays when the WR is in a different zip code. d. Fred Jackson showed tremendous playmaking ability the few times they used him. this was a surprise he could run patterns and catch the ball in space??? The Bills do have some playmakers - however their ability to make plays has been neutered by that crackerjack coaching staff. I can not understand how so many posters continue to defend them for their incompetence.
  13. Dockery is another victim of the disconnect between the coaches and front office. Dockery was good enough in the Redskins blocking schemes in 2006 to justify the biggest contract in Bills history. Dockery was not good in the Bills blocking scheme in 2007 & 2008 to justify that huge contract, but he was far better than the slugs the Bills had been using since running Ruben Brown out of town. The Redskins paid Dockery big bucks the very day after he was cut by the Bills because they think he can again produce in their blocking schemes. Looks to me like the blocking schemes used in Buffalo may be the problem. but what is the surprise when the linemen themselves don't know if they are running a drive blocking or zone blocking scheme. Dockery had value on the market - the Bills just totally failed to explore that market more than 2 days before Dockery's bonus was due.
  14. not a chance they still play the vaunted cover-2 super soft passive zone Turk is still the wussy OC and the ultra-conservative Dick still runs the show so no- your conclusion is wrong
  15. let me be more specific Walt Corey was a joke He wasted the great pass rushing talent he had in Bruce Smith and Bennett by playing his read and react defense. they should have attacked from down 1 and Bruce would have set new sack records every year.
  16. so maybe the Bills should have changed how it went done. Instead of making a knee jerk reaction to cut Dockery the day before his bonus was due, maybe they could have shopped him in the off-season. since a big reason they cut him loose was to free up his salary and cap room to make an offer to Peters, it would have been prudent to get Peters under contract BEFORE cutting Dockery loose. Since they are still millions under the cap, maybe they should have paid the bonus, and worked a deal thru the draft.
  17. which puts him a couple steps ahead of Walker which is why we'll be seeing almost constant 2 TE lineups
  18. at least Ted was. Marv was smart enough to get out of his way the defensive staff Marv hired was a joke and kept them from winning Super Bowls. Wade was good (but not hired by Marv) but by that time Ted was gone and not replaced with anyone remotely competent unless you consider being able to smash another coach's head thru the wall a sign of quality coaching
  19. why pick WNY? because they paid them to come with tax breaks and no cost power not a problem - the fixed income retirees can subsidize it no problem
  20. so basically you don't know anything other than what you made up there could have been 28 other teams offering packages of picks and players comparable to the Eagles offer that fit your criteria. The Eagles actually offered their earlier pick (21st I believe) but the Bills wanted an additional low round pick in 2010 for some unknown reason.
  21. and you know that there were not other offers - ---how??? The Bills don't even release contract info on their own players - why would you think they released info on potential trade offers? but just keep making up stuff and watch the Eagles challenge for a Super Bowl with a stud LT
  22. It helps to have a front office that can evaluate, identify and acquire talent. Whatever defense the Bills play, they are at a severe disadvantage to most teams right off the bat. to compound problems, the Bills are committed to a weak, small, passive defense designed to keep games close - which will work against crappy offenses - but not so much against good teams. crappy players in a crappy scheme with bad coaching does not get you to the playoffs.
  23. You are completely wrong Brandon drew a line in the sand - Peters would get no new deal in 2008 (before, during or after the season)- no matter what he did. so stop with the nonsense that by showing up and playing nice he would have got a pay raise in 2008. you say he got bad advice -- seems Peters made out like a bandit - he got the big contract he wanted and he now plays on a Super Bowl contender. by holding out in 2008, he called the Bills bluff. they folded in 2009 and gave him away. how is it HE got bad advice??? as a Bills fan, you may not like the outcome - but the agent works for Peters, not the fans
  24. Brandon was not giving Peters a new contract in 2008 no matter what Peters did. that's what Brandon told Peters - and that's why Peters held out stop with the nonsense that he would have gotten a new deal if he just showed up
  25. yeah- the only difference with Bruce was that the team recognized his value and actually paid him - probably more every year even thought he as under contract
