  1. I want to see less of Josh as the starter opposite Lee and more 3 receiver sets with him in the slot. At the #2 spot, I wouldn't care if it were Hardy or Johnson, as long as he produced. Parrish is just not a consistent threat as a WR.
  2. For sure. He'd have Moss and Gaffney clearing out the underneath and the ultimate checkdown weapons in Welker and Faulk. But injury concerns would still be there. But regardless of Edwards' issues/injury-proneness, the point is that Cassel is NOT worth what he'll be offered in the off-season. Not unless the rest of his offense comes with him.
  3. Most of his best games have been against some of the worst passing defenses in the NFL. And the Cards game was an obvious attempt to inflate his stats.
  4. I'm sorry if the truth about your friend or relative hurts.
  5. Actually the Dols are likely to win the division, because I don't see the Jets beating them (or the Bills beating the Pats, which is moot if the Dols win). But they'll probably at-best win their home playoff game, lose the next game, and Pennington won't have as good a season next year, and the Dols will fall back to earth as a result. As for the Jets, they know what they had in Pennington and took a chance with Favre. I can't fault them for that, although it backfired, mostly because the defense regressed badly and Favre fatigued.
  6. Right back at you, sporto. When Cassel doesn't have Moss, Welker, and Faulk to throw to, he won't look so hot. Moss made Culpepper's career, and look at Culpepper now. Cassel will be no different and look like every other player that leaves the Putz' system. Book it.
  7. A young guy coming back from a torn ACL is nothing these days...unless it's complicated by infection or something like that ( ) . Where Hardy will be setback most is missing practice time. But he'll have more time to learn the playbook.
  8. There aren't many. The only one I've seen is Matt Birk. Instead of re-signing Crowell, I'd sign Vilma to play MLB and move Poz to SLB. And since Ralph said it's a lack of talent, I'd expect the Bills to pursue one from among Haynesworth, Peppers, or Suggs (I can dream, can't I?).
  9. The NFL flexed the Jets-Dols game to 4 PM, while the Bills and Pats play at 1 PM. If the Pats win, the Jets will probably roll over so the Dols win the division. If the Bills win, the Jets likely play hard (and still probably lose). The upshot of this all is the Pats don't make the playoffs since the Ravens won't lose to the Jags.
  10. I just heard Brian Urlacher on the Mike Tirico show on ESPN, and he said the votes for guys he likes, not necessarily guys who are playing well. Pretty much sums it up.
  11. I think these guys would all be better in a non-cover 2 defensive scheme.
  12. How does anyone know the Bills didn't try and give Greer a contract after last season? It wouldn't surprise me to learn they made overtures, but Greer and his agent wanted to hit the open market. But now with his injury, things might be a little different. Hopefully (for selfish reasons) he's still not ready to play against the Cheatriots, thus driving down his price and making him easier to keep.
  13. I took the top-5 salaries and the mean is actually between the 2nd and 3rd salary. He's an UFA at the end of this season. They either franchise or transition tag him, or he's gone.
  14. Which is...between the 2nd and 3rd highest-paid QB's.
  15. And it's Toronto. But they're not moving there. Or anywhere else for that matter.
  16. Actually if they franchise him, they're paying him between the 2nd and 3rd QB.
  17. No one wants to trade for the 1st overall pick anymore, for the reason Pneumonic mentioned: too much money for an unproven player. That's why the pick hasn't been traded in 4 years now and probably won't ever again. And if the Lions COULD trade it, why not keep it, trade down a few spots (none of the teams in the top-7 will be looking for a QB), get Bradford for a lot less and another pick?
  18. It's too bad the talent that IS there on offense is wasted so badly.
  19. Cassel (one "l") is far from proven and won't have the likes of Moss and Welker to throw to, much less the Pats' O-line, much less their rushing attack, in Detroit. That will be taken into account when teams (read: Detroit) weigh whether they want to spend $14M a year and a huge signing bonus on him. And most likely, they won't, regardless of what a QB picked 1st overall pick would get (if that were any consideration, the Raiders would have traded their 1st rounder overall for Matt Schaub in 2007). And the only comparison is with the 1st overall pick, since after that the contracts are WELL below what a franchise player would demand, as Cassel's agent surely will if he's franchised. And besides, do you think that the Pats would trade for the 1st overall and have to pay that amount of money? No way.
  20. I miss Keith McKellar.
  21. Compare Brady last year to Cassel this year. Not even close.
