I was going to post that factoid and how Lynch could be paid per-game if he's signed after the first game of the season. But a workout was calling me at the gym. Apparently the Jets are sniffing around Lynch now that he's been cut. If they guarantee him he'll be on the opening-day roster, he may just take it.

Considering a guy like Bernard Berrian signed a 6-year $42M contract this past off-season and isn't as good as Evans, I can see him asking for 6-years $45M. If that's true, at those numbers, which are close to what the 2009 franchise WR tender will be (~$7.8M), I'd hold-off on re-signing him right now and see how the season plays out.

All I need to see to know that Fairchild was screwing JP up was seeing JP eschew scrambling for a first when he had clear paths the past couple years. And to be fair, while JP shares some of the blame, it's not like he had even an average offense around him.

This is how it is Mickey. Peters can report, make his $4.5M for the season and then cash-in next year, or he can sit out the first 10 games, end up playing this year for free because of the fines, loss of playing bonuses and loss of a portion of his signing bonus, have no shot at a new deal next year, and have to look forward to 2 more years of this. All because he couldn't wait a year for his blockbuster deal, while "only" making $4.5M.

I have a feeling he won't report tomorrow. If any day, it would have been today, i.e. the first practice the day after the roster was set, with a week left before the first game. My next guess would be Saturday, the last day to report and have your contract guaranteed for the season, but late enough to make him useless for at least the first game. And if not then, then week 10.

No, by "later" I meant past mid-season. I can't believe they figured he'll miss over half the season and still keep him on the active roster. That much I figured. When they say "indefinitely," it says at least 4-5 weeks to me. Beyond that time however is when you consider putting him on IR.

Speaking of which, Colorado State lost to Colorado 17-38. Figures.

With Hardy and Parrish missing that Colts pre-season game, and Walker having to matchup with Freeney, I thought the Bills' offense under JP (or even Trent) would have been non-existent. Not only was it not, it was pretty freaking good! I attribute most of that to Turk Schonert's schemes.
