1. You can still have an open discussion board for your Sunday school topics but there should also be a Bills only board.

    Message boards need organization.

Adding one board just for Bills Talk is hardly a loss to the complete forum.  It's a bonus that will help bring in more Bills fans.

    Hey slappy...

We've been around longer than any other Bills forum. I guess we will be starting our 8th year very shortly. I hardly think you are there is anything you can say or suggest that hasn't been addressed in the late 90's...

So, just drop it. Really. There is no chance that is going to happen and it isn't even open to discussion.

  2. Beerball likes Wednesday even more than Thursday.

Beerball also wants to encourage all fellow TBDers to follow theblackbear's lead and always speak in the first person.  Beerball feels that we need more LAMP.

I believe you mean "3rd person" - no?

  3. Depends on how you define coaching tree.....Wade Phillips was his D Coordinator at the end....Ted Cottrell also was there.  These guys are not great HC, but they are solild coaches.

Marv made the HOF, enough respect from outside WNY in my opinion.

    Uhhh... yeah.

Ted Marchibroda and Wade were both head coaches before coming to Buffalo. Ted Cottrell is a DC. That does not qualify as a coaching tree in anyone's book.

  4. Indy is definitely beatable ... if our D can slow them down even just a little bit, THEIR D is HORRIBLE.  Despite Peyton being all-world, I'll not be surprised if they go "one-and-done" in the playoffs this year.  THey just have no team balance at all - all the bucks are tied up in Peyton, Harrison, and Edgerrin.  Their only quality starter on D is Freeney, who is playing out his rookie contract (2 more years).

???? Indy provides a HORRIBLE matchup for us. The only way to stop them is with pressure. The one thing we don't do is pressure the QB.

Manning eats this defense alive and Bledsoe cannot go toe to toe with them.

  5. Depends on how you want to view the game. How many playoff games were lost when your QB led team puts up 38 points on the board and 400 yards and 70% 3rd down conversions along with his 3 INTs? Not many if any. I meant what more could you want out of this game. And if you want your QB throwing for 400 yards and scoring 38 points and converting 3rd downs all over and passing to 9 different receivers and NOT throwing any bad passes, then you are asking for a little too much. I don't think he had a fantastic game, but he played pretty well.

you are confusing the issues here. More than likely, a playoff team is not going to allow us to dominate them on the road like this sinking Seahawks team, so those offensive numbers don't translate. However, mistakes that are under one's own control are probably better indicators of future performance when the lights are bright, the opponents are good, and the ass is puckered.

Perhaps you are thinking this is the SB winning Rams offense that could afford turnovers. I would suggest they are not. You asked a question - I gave an answer. Protect the football. It's an important part of the game.

  6. That's all fine and dandy, but we beat up on another mediocre team - which is a good thing. We are supposed to beat up mediocre teams, so it's definitely a step forward.

You asked what more could we want out of Bledsoe.... I dunno - do you weant to kick the snot out of Arizona or do you want to win a playoff game? You want to beat the bottom half of the league then I guess we couldn't ask for anything more.

However, if you ever desire to watch the Bills in at least mid-January - then you better have someone who isn't turning the ball over 3 times a game. Turnovers lose games - ESPECIALLY playoff games. Our last playoff game listed our QB with 2 fumbles and 1 INT.

Games are won or lost on "5 bad throws" or other type plays. This league is built around minimizing mistakes these days. Make fewer bad plays than your opponent and you are in good shape. 3 INT's are BAD win/lose/tie. They should NEVER be excused.

  7. I figured you wouldn't be caught up in all this....

As far as entertainment goes - winning is better than losing, so this stretch has been better than any thing we have experienced in years. However, it points to the fact that maybe we are good enough to kick the snot out of mediocre teams (which is more than we used to be able to say).

Do you really think 3 INTs is going to lead to a 29 point victory in NE, Pitt, or Indy? I think we lose by 29 in those games turning the ball over.

As for Henry - until there is actually someone on the phone offering draft picks - his value is "0". Everyone throws around his "value", but you still need a partner to dance with no matter WHAT we think he is worth....

And really, big heart or not, what is the worth of a RB who constantly breaks his own bones? People got on RJ for being brittle.... TH has been injured every year.

  8. Now i can live up to Rockpiles sig..! :P

My blog is created... Fist entry completed... It's hardly Belle du Jour - but hopefully i'll tap into some little known talent pool inside me and my life will be such a fscination that you'll all become bigger Nick Manning fans than Bills fans.

who is "Nick Manning" and why did his motehr give him such a funny name? :flirt:

  9. Something my 16 year old step-sister does after school.  Kind of like an online journal.  You write about your most personal thoughts and act surprised when half the school knows about your private life.

    134430

Or, you could be an aspiring writer who decides to write about the Bills, politics, music, or movies and would prefer writing something more formal than a message board post, but less formal than an "article"....

  10. Short for web log. Get it?

Anyway, SDS, how does one get to have their own TBD Blog? It doesn't seem like just anyone can sign up.

I suppose only "regulars" or folks with high post counts can contribute, eh?  :flirt:

    134324

Actually, I didn't know how I was going to do this.

I decided to open it up to all registered members and see how it goes. If you want to create one - just go to My Controls and click on the top left link....

  11. I installed a new blogging feature on the board that will allow people to have their own personal blog.

Blogs can be about any *appropriate* topic, but not limited to only football. Good Bills blogs will be highlighted on the front page.

You can see what this is about by clicking on "blogs" just below the header graphic.

  12. I did not go back and watch the replay, but from what I remember - they were face-to-face out on their own. Clements was about 3-4 feet from Holtz and then he just turned sideways, and dove right at the knees. Holtz mainly sidestepped it....

The announcers went back and highlighted it. It is hard to imagine any situation where Nate could justify his actions.
