The problem with the cloud, as I mentioned in the previous thread in Nov - I don't feel capable spec'ing what I need other than "what is my cost for my current rig at peak loads" and then going down from there during non-peak times. And although it is really attractive on paper, I can't predict when a coach gets fired or Mario Williams is going to be pursued, etc... I'm not sure how quickly resources can be given to me and what level of intervention is required on my part. I need a massive OS upgrade any way (and all the components in the LAMP stack). The cost of doing that in my time (disk gets formatted and fresh OS is installed - meaning the entire server reconfig process needs to be completed) means the time is right to look at hardware. If I can get the price to be equivalent then it is a free hardware upgrade (with newer "older" hardware) because my monthly cost isn't going down keeping the same hardware going.

MySQL. On game days, it is I/O. Too many people accessing the same exact content (usually a single game day thread). I have to turn off a topic marking feature because of the high amount of writes that locks everything up.

So, I'm getting serious about getting a new rig. Unfortunately, I have the personality that renders buying socks a serious task as I look to maximize every aspect of the purchase. Ugh. Currently, we have: dual Xeon 5345 2.3 GHz quadcores 12 GB of 667 RAM dual 147GB 15k SCSI drives (Raid 1) I'm looking at: Dual Processor Hex Core Xeon 2620 - 2.00GHz (Sandy Bridge) - 2 x 15MB cache 16 GB Registered DDR3 1333 RAM 200GB SSD drive Now, the last part is significant and maybe someone can help me determine what we really want. I'm currently paying for 2 SCSI drives and a raid controller, with the idea if one disk crashes the other one steps up to the plate. I'm not sure that is what I really want. What I really want (I think) is: A full disk backup that can run the server (even if at a reduced performance) with limited (not necessarily zero) data loss. With the point being the server doesn't need to be fully reconfigured again if the hardware fails and we are up and limping along with limited down time. I THINK I'm fine with losing a day of data. If so, that lops $100 off per month and puts me in the same ballpark as the current server. Does anyone with server knowledge want to chime in here? I could use some help with determining storage architecture too. Comedians - please find another thread - I need a productive conversation here before the world of youth soccer sucks me back in. Lastly, server is currently in Dallas. Have option for Wash DC. Thinking that might be better for Buffalo based peeps.

Not only is there audio, but I saw the video clip of it as well a couple weeks ago on a morning show. -
Cosby scandal--Charged with aggravated assault--Posts Bail

although not a court of law smoking gun, but a smoking gun in my eyes... Cosby in the late 60's had a comedy bit about drugging and having sex with women. Seems to me that coincidence is far too much for me to accept, given that subject isn't necessarily a tried and true target for comedy. -
One of the few shows Deborah and I watch.

Are The Bills & Browns Running Parallel ??
SDS replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When this topic comes up about "not knowing what we have" because they haven't been playing on Sunday - why is it that people neglect the fact they these mystery players practice every week? They really aren't that mysterious. -

How did he last 1000+ posts? Yikes. -

Although we understand you are trying to help, taking on unofficial duties never works out well. We have the report button for any issues that need to be addressed. Personally, I see nothing wrong with this topic as it is distinctly different from the Fund Me thread. It certainly could go either way and the OP would not have been wrong in either case. -
But in the first case I don't know how that really can be done because you'd have to synchronize certain parts of the database so that user names etc. were functional. In fact the more I think about it I doubt it could be done.
-
Bandwidth isn't the issue. The size of the database is. There are two true ways to deal with this. 1. Buy another license to offload 3 million posts. 2. Get a cloud server (I am sort of out of my league here) so that when we need more hardware additional resources can be used for that event. This should be more efficient since we only need those resources less than 100 hours a year. But it is difficult for me to price that out because of the way it is done.

Is it really necessary to block Bleacher Report still?
SDS replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm really done arguing this point. I'm not going to equate professional reporters with real access, disseminating real information to Timmy in Wichita posting a "story" during study hall. This thread is prime example that happens every time. -

Because EVERY TIME someone quoted/linked one of their pieces it turned into a giant pissing match about how bad and disreputable they are. Add that to their writers joining the board to spam their links and it was clearly a net NEGATIVE. -

Perhaps you should read the sfweekly.com story which is the more important of the two. Saying BR is respectable because of Matt Bowen is like sticking up for ISIS because their neonatal health care plan is top notch. -

Actually, it is against the bleacher reports policy for writers to break their own news. What they do is leech off of others reporting and then instead of driving traffic to the original sites they take the traffic for themselves. Their motto is own the story after someone else breaks it. -
Yikes, someone has been googling me. I saw this awhile back and just didn't get a chance to post... We get our picture in the Sun all the time (they own the once per week local county paper). We take all the tournament pics, so I submit them when the tournament is over. They have a slew of them... Paige has been doing really well. She plays on the top team in the club (top 11 out of 220). Their team is one of the best in the area... Very fun to watch this group of girls grow.

Don't know what the deal is... Might have to troubleshoot tonight. I can't see anything wrong at the moment.

Sorry. HUGE pet peeve here. In what logical paradigm are you allowed to change TWO (or more) plays and even suggest the outcome could possibly be the same? Everything that happens after the 1st change means EVERYTHING changes thereafter. There is no "Roby pick 6" to change. You changed every play for the rest of game..
