Bills and Maybin Close To A Deal Not Waiting On Crabtree Deal

I really doubt the Bills were waiting for Crabtree! I doesn't make any sense.

I agree with this. It brings into question the credibility of this site.

I'm not at all familiar with Pro Football Central and give the report no credence. I'm hopeful but until a more credible news outlet breaks this, I do not trust this report.

The Bills aren't waiting on Crabtree. Whoever wrote that report is a moron. Why would the Bills wait on a guy who is demanding top-3 money, when it will only drive-up the price of their draft pick, as well as delay getting him into camp? Can anyone be a "sportswriter" these days?

Because the Bills know he WON'T GET top 3 money. He is going to get what he is slotted to get, if he were to sign soon. It is very easy to do the contract if the player before, and after, the pick are already signed. Both sides like that.

Now that it is clear he is demanding more $$ than his position is due, and has threatened to sit out, his signing is no longer a boon. That is why they want to move on. It is easier now that Knowshon is signed. If Raji is signed, it should be a breeze.

With Moreno's numbers known, there is no reason not to forget Crabtree and workout a deal with Maybin. Waiting can only make things worse, not better.

BTW, this article suggests the Bills are the ones who have been waiting for Crabtree to sign:

Buffalo management is well aware that the 49ers are having issues signing Michael Crabtree who was drafted a pick earlier than Maybin and will not wait until that deal is finalized to sign Maybin.

I have no idea if it is true, but it may very well be.

I don't know about that interpretation. It seems to me that they are telling his agent they aren't going to wait any longer. Brandon has said in the recent past that Maybin's agent wasn't even communicating with them. I think since Moreno has signed they are saying; "Good enough to run numbers now! Let's get it over with!"

JMO

Here's another piece on the issue that backs up my interpretation, I think.

It's Day Two of the Aaron Maybin holdout, and multiple sources tell us that the Bills and the eleventh overall pick in the draft aren't even remotely close to doing a deal.

In fact, we hear the two sides barely are talking.

This is from today's Buffalo News under the title Signing of No. 1 pick Maybin doesn't appear imminent.

Whether Maybin's representation will be comfortable doing a deal without the 10th pick slotted remains to be seen.

Well I guess we'll soon find out who has the better sources.

maybe the front office could actually do their job of getting their players in camp -

and not use the crutch that every other #1 pick has not signed

just trying to squeeze the last nickel

pretty convenient if the #1 priority is saving money to wait and essentially be forced into the slotted deal- Ralph can't B word then.

Of course the football product takes a huge hit because your #1 savior at a huge position of need will miss all of camp and suffer the consequences.

squeezing dollars = job #1

Pro Football Central is NOT a reliable site.

They're the same guys who spread that wildly inaccurate John Henderson to the Bills rumor awhile back, they never get any "scoops"...it's all just informed guessing and scouring KFFL for the latest news updates to create the illusion they are breaking news.
