Then again, if this was the case, DB would have no need for a red jersey or reason to think he would be injured, because he would never make it beyond the pocket. I have a feeling that if Vincent was trying to send a message he'd need to give JP more than a love tap on the shoulder. Clothes -lining him would have sent a message. skimming the guys shoulder would not have been a very effective message. There for why even try it. To me it sounded like JP tried to juke around Vincent. That being said I can understand how annoying it must be to have the new kid scamper by, the crowd goes wild and not being able to smack him.
