Bailey said he thought it was the end of his life and the lives of the 10 people inside his apartment for a birthday party after two masked men with guns burst in through a patio door.

That's when one student grabbed a gun out of a backpack and shot at the invader who was watching the men. The gunman ran out of the apartment.

Two armed men counting bullets (meaning guns in hand... ) AND one of the party goers has TIME to grab a gun out of a backpack . Interesting...

Just goes to show the old saying still rings true.."better to have a gun and not need one than need a gun and not have one". Fortunately he had one when he needed it.

While I agree wholeheartedly with you, and I am very glad that this worked out for these students, the wisdom of carrying a gun in a backpack to a college drinking party is questionable.

But if there were no guns then criminals wouldn't have them either. Just look in mexico where guns are illegal, criminals don't have any. </liberal>

The guns the Mexicans have are obtained illegally through the U.S.. The gun smuggling done for the bad guys there is from the USA. What do you think that means? Since they can't get guns easily in Mexico they have to import them from a country that has laws making it very easy to obtain them.

For any "gun control" to really work... Guns throughout the whole world have to be harder to find than uranium. As long as there are borders (state and national too) with one set of regulations on each... IMO, nothing will ever work with regards to gun control. Problems can be lessened, but that is going to take teamwork between state and national borders that are close in proximity. So, we mine as well leave the door open to how we manufacture and distribute guns.

See my post above, that is what I was alluding to. As long as there is one state or national entity that defects from the collective agreement on dealing with guns... All is for not. One can wage a fight with basically anything, there are items that one doesn't use because the can't get the hands on them readily THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE WORLD.

Just out of curiosity, do you have any idea what percentage of guns in Mexico come from the US?

It doesn't matter where they come from... They come from somewhare with lax manufacture laws. Treat every gun like a high-tech military weapon.

And I do fall on your side of the argument more.

Linkage

Federal agents say about 90 percent of the 12,000 pistols and rifles the Mexican authorities recovered from drug dealers last year and asked to be traced came from dealers in the United States, most of them in Texas and Arizona.

12,000 guns were traced. Compared to how many guns that are in Mexico?

In all, the military has 305,424 confiscated weapons locked in vaults, just a fraction of those used by criminals in Mexico, where an offensive by drug cartels against the military has killed more than 10,750 people since December 2006. But each weapon is a clue to how the cartels are getting arms, and possibly to the traffickers that brought them here.

I'm not saying the US doesn't contribute, but explain to me why the US is the problem in Mexico, but we're not the problem in Canada?

And if we ban guns, do you think Mexicans will simply stop trying to get them?

Are you suggesting that the US change its laws simply because Mexico has let its country go to schiit?

Just curious what your take is on all of this.

The same problem lies within our borders and states also. You can easy replace the word Mexico with the City of Chicago. Gun control is an all or not proposition, IMO.

You didnt answer his questions, as usual.

I can't say if we are or not the problem in Canada.

No. But, they won't be able to find them so readily and cheaply.

Yes. Interchange the word Mexico with: City of Chicago.

My take on all this? It is why bother unless states and nations can all agree ont he same thing.

There... Is that better? :P

You're a nut. do you really want the UN to regulate gun controll through out the world/ Thats what you're saying?

You've said before that you believe that socialism is something we should try, do you still feel that way?

So you're saying in the past year, American drug cartels have killed more than 10,000 American people, of which more than 4,000 are police chiefs, mayors, judges and politicians? Gee, you'd think we'd read more about that kind of thing, but I guess it just doesn't make the news here.
