Bills bring in a LB - Warrick Holdman from Wash

Recommended Posts

from BD (didn't see posted already...sorry if its a repeat)

Holdman Visited: Sirius NFL Radio reports that the Bills hosted a free agent visitor. Washington free agent LB Warrick Holdman was at One Bills Drive. Holdman played for Dick Jauron in Chicago. He spent his first five seasons with the Bears followed by a year with Cleveland before ending up with the Redskins the past two seasons. Holdman plays on the outside and would add some valuable depth to a depleted linebacker corps. He had 69 tackles in 16 games last season.

Seems like some nice depth and has ties with Jaurons defense.

I say go ahead & sign him. IMO he's a good example of why it doesn't make sense to draft LBs high on Day 1 anymore (with few exceptions like Hawk), there's always players like him floating around... a good, strong DL is more important.

I'm too lazy to look for it TC, but there was a thread about this a couple days ago. From what I remember it would be either a good pick up or a total waste of time.

I am too, although I did look on the first page....

Since I've never spent any time studying Holdman I don't know if he's any good. But I do know that many Redskin fans think he's horrible -- especially against the run. Some of them nicknamed him "Highway 57" (his number in Washington) because of the tendency for teams to run right at (some would say over) him.

When this topic came up a couple of days ago I happened to glance at a Redskins board and they were overjoyed that he was talking to other teams.

Again, for what its worth -- which may be not much.

Would be OK depth if he is willing to also play special teams.

If the bills don't draft a LB high he could start. He would be better than Coy Wire and the rest of the other players the bills currently have at the position.
