ESPN reporting this morning SAINTS MOVE

The reported on the news that the Superdome may well have to be torn down. There will several years of economic hardship making supporting pro sports unlikely. It's pretty much a given that NO loses the Saints and the Hornets.

Someone earlier said Saints fans weren't passionate because they wear bags on their heads. Quite the opposite. The Saints have fans all throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, plus parts of Alabama and Texas. Considering how bad that team has been through the years, it's amazing they have any fans at all.

Even though the Saints may leave NO, the NFL loves the city as a Super Bowl site. Don't forget the annual Sugar Bowl, too. A rebuilt Superdome, or completely new facility, is a must if NO rebuilds. Major event hosting makes such a facility mandatory

Could the Saints relocate for 3 years until NO is rebuilt?

Supposedly, Rams founder Dan Reeves went to Fordham University, whose sports teams are known as the Rams.  The team, when founded in 1937 in Cleveland,  was named in their honor.

Didn't know that. Thanks. I remember when Reeves died and Carroll Rosenbloom swapped the Colts for the Rams, bringing the Irsays into the NFL.

Fordham was also Vince Lombardi's alma mater.

Some form of ebonics? :D

It's more a form of New York lower east side. As the New York Times once reported, comparing West Coast baseball fans to New Yorkers, "they don't know from frenzy."

Orleans is a city in France. Before 1803, the entire area (and much more) surrounding NO was a French territory. Jefferson bought it from Napolean, which is why there is a "french quarter" and the Fleur dis lis.

So we can blame the French for this disaster too? :D

So the NFL let's the Giants have an extra home game but I'm sure they'll make sure that the Bills don't.

Let's not start the Monthly Western New York Inferiority Complex Jamboree again.

Let me say this loud and clear: NO ONE IS OUT TO SCREW BILLS FANS.

It's unfair. Just because WNY hasn't been ravaged by nature is no reason why the Bills should be denied equality.

Sorry - don't get your point. Don't recall NJ having any nature problem. There is plenty of time for the NFL to get the SA stadium all set so NO can play all of their "home" games there.

I was kidding about the Bills part. But I do find it annoying that the Giants game will be in NJ rather then SA.

It's the New York Giants. Right about now, they need all the help they can get.

My wife said something that really rung a bell and could happen.

She said watch and see all the big business buy up all that land and make it one big casino.  They will cash in on the whole Marti Gras thing making that a "family theme park." Expensive as all hell one time a year event.

Better casino owners paying for this than it coming out of my taxes. I like the idea of moving saints to LA than we can stop all this useless discussion about Bills moving there.

Now I have been wondering what the Giants, Cowboys, and Redskins think about that ?

Seems awfully unfair ...

Sure it's unfair. If anybody doesn't believe the NFL likes having teams like the Giants, Jets, and Pats in the play-offs then you haven't been paying attention.

One extra home game is a definte advantage. I have a strong feeling though by the Saints second "home" game they will have their new stadium plans resolved.

From what I hear, San Antonio, Baton Rouge, and for that matter, Birmingham, all have the same problem: They are full of displaced people from Katrina. The Alamodome is a relief staging area right now, as is the LSU campus.

The only options as of now are the L.A. Collesium, Relient Stadium in Houston, and playing 16 road games. Sad but true.

Buffalo Bills vs. New Orleans Saints

Memphis Tenn, Oct. 2, 2005

Not to mention my tickets to New Orleans are through Memphis......A guy can dream can't he?

I think the Oct 2nd game should be in Buffalo. Make the tickets $20 and give all the proceeds to the Red Cross. Game would be a guaranteed sellout. I don't think it would be close to a sellout anywhere else. Put donation buckets outside the Ralph and people will give. Sell a special program and/or a t-shirt and donate all the proceeds. They would end up with close to a million bucks, if not more.

Why inconvenience both teams? It's less than a month until that game and no plans have been set. Both teams will have to scramble to make travel arrangements- flights, buses, hotels, transporting equipment- to an unknown destination.

Why isn't the commissioner taking care of this asap? Why aren't RW and TD involved with any of this as far as we know? Someone make a decision about something.
