Who would you rather have in your secondary?

A friend of mine who is a Pats fan says Law is the better player....I feel Law WAS the better player but now Id rather have milloy without question.

Without Milloy we were 1-5 and with him 8-3....that says alot!

Law will be hurt by week 5.

4 years ago I probably would have said Law but right now, after his injury and him showing his true colors (so to speak) with his contract negotiations a couple years ago, I would take Milloy in a heartbeat.

Good corners are very tough to come by in this league but top safeties are even harder to find. The Bills are in a position now that they need that leadership in the defensive backfield and both Vincent and Milloy give them that.

I've always liked Law and Milloy with that said, I'd rather have Milloy. Good safeties are hard to come by, and as good as a corner law was/is, a good safety can help out an average corner a lot, also creep up to the los and be an asset to your run defense. I'd take either or, and I'd probably flip flop on my opinion this a lot, but right now I'd rather have Milloy.

That is actually an interesting question. I would have to agree with you. I'd rather have Milloy as well.

If both are 100%, Ty Law, but thats a close call. 3 INTs in the AFC Chamioonship game, one in their first Super Bowl pushes my vote towards Law.

Ty Law hands down.

You guys are kidding yourselves with these answers. A healthy Ty Law is a top 3 most dominant shut down corners in the league. You put him up against almost any wr in the game and he is going to shut them down. Anyone remember the AFC championship game two years ago?

3 picks vs Manning speaks for itself. The guy is the best in the business.

I'll actually go as far as to say I'd rather have Rodney Harrison in my defensive backfield over Lawyer Milloy. A bigger impact as a hitter and tends to put a lot of fear in to wr's.

Don't get me wrong, Milloy is the man and I love him at safety for the Bills. Great leadership and very smart. He's the man for us no question.

We are comparing apples to oranges here, but I'd take Law all day.

I don't think that we're going to see a healthy Ty Law for quite some time, if ever, really. So that swings it back towards a healthy, productive, Milloy.

Easily a healthy Law. They're both great players, but playmakers win championships, and Law is one of the best in history. He'll be a 1st-ballot HOF-er, while Milloy won't come close. Don't get me wrong, though, I'm very happy to have Lawyer on our team... especially since he keeps Coy Wire off the field! :D

you are correct-

too bad Law is not healthy

AND his contract with the Jets supports that concern.

When would a healthy player, who demanded $9 mil + from NE, agree to play for as little as $1 mil for 2005 from the Jets.

fyi...

Law could earn $18 million over 2 years if he meets incentives

BY RICH CIMINI AND GARY MYERS

New York Daily News

NEW YORK - (KRT) - If Ty Law re-injures his surgically repaired left foot and doesn't play a down in 2005, the Jets are on the hook for only $1 million and can cut him after the season with no salary-cap implications, the New York Daily News has learned.

But if the former Patriots star stays healthy and plays well this season, he can earn at least a whopping $18 million in the first two years of his contract.

Law's contract, reported Wednesday to the NFL's Management Council, is based almost entirely on incentives and covers the Jets in the event of an injury. According to a league source with knowledge of the contract, the complicated deal includes:

No signing bonus and a $2.5 million base salary in 2005. Law will receive a $500,000 salary advance on Monday and another $2 million on Sept. 15. If he's placed on injured reserve on or before Sept. 10 (the eve of the season opener) due to a left-foot injury, he receives only $500,000 of the remaining $2 million.

That is unusual because, in a standard contract, a player on IR usually receives his entire base salary.

A $62,500 roster bonus for each game that he's active in 2005. That means an additional $1 million if he's active for all 16 games. He also can earn a $500,000 bonus if he participates in at least 85 percent of the defensive plays. That would bring his 2005 compensation to $4 million. There's also a sliding scale of playing-time incentives that could guarantee up to $3 million in 2006.

A team option for $11 million, payable next March, that would extend the contract through 2011. In other words, the Jets can get out of the contract by cutting Law before March, 2006.

A $4 million bonus if the Jets win the Super Bowl this season and Law participates in at least 95 percent of the plays, one of many individual and team-related incentives.

Sounds like he'll be a jest for only one season............
