NCAA Bans Indian Mascots From Postseason

This is a mess, Some schools, if not most schools actually have healthy relationship with the tribes they are named for, such as FSU and the Seminole nation! They have the full support of the group, and even work together to raise awareness and accuaracy of the representation of the Seminole Indians. I'm sure its the same elsewhere.

Can it be that once again white America is fleecing the indians?

Reminds me of a great skit from the old Mad TV show (before it became Sad TV), when the Native Americans had used the proceeds from their casinos to buy the major sports teams using Native American mascots/names and rename them, like the Cleveland Klan (instead of the Indians) and the Washington Rednecks (instead of the Redskins). Classic.

Reminds me of a George Carlin joke about Notre Dame:

"Being Irish, I guess I should resent the Notre Dame nickname, "The Fighting Irish." After all, how long do you think nicknames like "The Bargaining Jews" or "The Murdering Italians" would last? Only the ironic Irish could be so naively honest. I get the feeling that Notre Dame came real close to naming itself "The Fvckin' Drunken, Thick-skulled, Brawling, Short-dicked Irish."

Go have a drink. Or two. Or 37. That'll straighten out your eyesight.

I think the historic treatment of Native Americans is one of the saddest chapters in American history.

However, this NCAA ruling takes political correctness to its most ridiculous extreme. I despise this kind of tokenism. Most Native American nicknames and mascots connote bravery and a strong, fighting spirit.

Apparently these virtues are no longer in vogue, at least in liberal academia.
