What would you do if you were me?

Recommended Posts

My wife is a teacher as some of you know. This summer she is teaching summer school.

Today, something happened at her school. An 8 year old little girl was out in the play yard and a THREE TIME OFFENDER drove by and tried to pick the girl up. The girl ran into the school and got my wife and two others to come outside. My wife and her coworkers saw the guy circle back, and took down his license number. The cops got him and told her that this would be his third offense, and that he'll go away for a long time, but not until they had my wife identify the f*cking animal. Not only that they're going to want her in court to positively ID the individual. I am SO worried that this guy will get out again and that he'll stalk us.

I am SERIOUSLY considering arming myself and keeping an eye on the judicial record to see if this f*cking piece of shiat ever gets out again. Worst thing is, he's registered in MY ZIP code.

I need your advice on suitable firearms.

Thanks, fellas and pray for us.

Wow. I am not sure if I am qualified to give advice in this matter.

I will answer as if it were me this happened to. I would make sure the dirtbag goes away to federal P.M.I.T.A. prison for as long as possible. I would definitely testify and do whatever I need to do.

About the other thing. I am just not sure. I don't think you should live life paranoid about some nutjob. Chances are, he's just what he is, a molester. I doubt his fortitude to commit a more serious crime in harming you or your family.

Good luck!

Unless your wife is an 8-year old girl, I doubt she has much to worry about. She's probably out of this guy's age range. I forget, though, whether or not you have any kids at home.

Personally, were I in your situation...I wouldn't worry too much about it. Certainly not to the degree that I'd go out and buy a gun. But then, I'm comfortable with my ability to protect my family without arming myself. If firepower's what makes you feel safe from child rapists, go right ahead...

Note: he was convicted of rape.

I'm tempted to plaster the whole town with flyers that have his face on it, as well as each and every other one of the miserable f*cks that come up in a search of my ZIP code.

I have a two-year old daughter.

;)

To think that the authorities would release people like this back in to the community repeatedly makes me want to retch. What a ridiculous system of "justice" we have in this country.

Unless you're with your wife 24/7, you can't protect her completely. Sounds like it's time for her to take a self-defense class. She does know that gouging out an eye is far more effective than a knee to the groin, right?

I don't know what she knows, I've never had to worry about this kind of shiat before.

How ridiculous is this situation though? These kind of incurable perverts shouldn't be released ONCE, let alone TWICE.

If you can't believe it, then you don't understand how the system works. The authorities do what the laws require. Don't like it...B word to the legislators and get the law changed.

you got an awful lot of information for something that just happened this morning.

was this pig already a 3-time offender? or will this ultimately be his third offense?

i don't know the laws but if this would be his third offence won't he go away for something like 25 years?

personally I don't know why this guy is still alive after his first offense.

They'd never listen to MY idea.

Generally, sex offenders can't be rehabilitated. What's the other options? Castration? Death?

i'm quite certain they'll never go for that idea. the pantywaists would throw too much of a fit.

The cop that arrested this human sack of shiat told my wife that this would be his third offense. I hope, and this is my most SINCERE hope, that they put this lousy worthless excuse for a human being in a cell with a 450 pound, 7 foot tall convict that was horribly molested as a child.

Generally, "sex offenders" covers a WIDE variety of crimes these days. Technically, the 19-year old guy with the 16-year old girlfriend is a sex offender...even if he's been dating her since he was 17. Travis Henry is a sex offender because he's an idiot who didn't ask for ID from a girl he picked up at a gas station (??? You're a football player, call an escort service you moron). A guy in Illinois is now a sex offender for something the sentencing judge admits was a completely non-sexual crime. Generally, people like that can be "rehabilitated" (or don't need any to begin with - the 19-year old will be "rehabilitated" when his girlfriend hits 18, Travis Henry will be "rehabilitated" when he learns not to be an idiot. The guy in Illinios will be "rehabilitated" when they fix their stupid laws.) So generally, saying 'sex offenders" cant be "rehabilitated" is an over-generalization.

Now, if you're talking about serial sex offenders...then you're most likely right. But do you really want to advocate laws that lock up people for life for the crime of total stupidity or living in Illinois, just so you get the serial offenders?

As somebody who lives next door to a sex offender (a rapist convicted of a 1992 sexual assault of a 30-year-old woman), I can sympathize with your plight, Joe. But I truly believe your wife has nothing to fear if she steps forward, especially if it will put this trash behind bars for 25 years. And she will be saving some little girl from being a victim.

I'm not familiar with where you live, but if it's NY, do they have programs that divert convicted child molestors into mental hospitals following their state prison terms (I know Kansas does)? That could effectively keep him away forever.

I'm not sure about that. But I CAN say that PA has a three strikes law, so if this indeed this farg's third strike he'll die in prison.

Can't the coworkers identify him too?

I cannot give you advice, Joe, since I do not walk in your shoes. Somehow this guy should not be allowed to see sunlight for a long time.

Can anyone in the "justice" system provide more info on potential danger there is to her as a witness? We know there is a danger to the community if he goes free.

Good luck, my friend.

Likely so...

...of course, he can't be serial until he commits more than one crime. Which he can't do until he's released for the first one, which JSP's dead-set against it seems. Ergo, the seriality of the crime is ultimately irrelevent in his judgement...

Joe, a few things:

1) How did you feel about gun ownership before this incident? If there were misgivings, perhaps you need to slow down and think clearly. (Btw, I obviously do not have problems with gun ownership for law abiding citizens.)

2) You shot handguns in the military, right? What kinds of guns did you like there. For novices, I reccomend .38 revolvers. They are very easy to safeguard, and good to learn with.

3) Your wife is a hero. Let me add that she would be feeling a lot worse if something happened to the kid. Seeing the results of children sexually assaulted is something that can be compartmentalized, but it never goes away. If one is not careful, they can be forever chased by the images. Trust me. Please tell her this.

4) I don't know exactly what happened. Did he touch the child? Did he try to force her in the vehicle, or was it verbal? This matters in terms of sentencing.

5) In all liklihood, the guy will cop. The penalties are servere, which makes copping beneficial to him. I had a guy cop to 8 years on a first offense. I will not discuss anything other than that in terms of this individual case, except that a full 1/3 comes off for good behavior. My point is; a trial is unlikely.

If you have any more questions wrt this, send me a PM and you can call me.

I know this is tough and you love your family, but try to relax, OK?

PS: That little girl is also a hero.
