Turnovers.  Tbh this team is a mirror of last year except we didn't turn the ball over,  didn't take sacks and we got a ton of turnovers.  The offensive inconsistencies and defensive meh games were the same.

Agreed on turnovers.  We all knew there would be some regression to the mean was coming but I didn't expect going from a plus 24 last year to a negative 2 so far this year.  Josh hasn't played as well as last year either.

I felt like last year teams respected Cooper a bit so there was more openness to the passing offense. But the turnovers are the biggest difference overall.

The problem is: you don't know which Bills will show up.

The Bills who manhandled the Chiefs or Panthers--or the Bills who collapsed at Texans/Dolphins. I would score those two versions of the Bills very differently.

This.

Who cares about season yards.

1. We got lucky against a then-good Baltimore team after being dominated.

2. We pounded a pathetic Jets team.

3. We pulled away at the end after a pretty even game against the bad Dolphins.

4. We beat a horrible Saints team, not that badly.

5. Pats took our crown while @Buf

6. Demolished by the Falcons, who suck. Could have been far worse loss. Still bad loss.

7. Destroyed the not so good Panthers. They’re up and down, they didn’t have it that day. That was a bad team that day. We just ran a toss play.

8. Beat the Chiefs. Not your fathers Chiefs.

9. Got crushed by the horrible Dolphins. Embarrassing.

10. Good win at home against the Bucs. Gave up over 30 points though, to a team with best weapons out hurt.

11. Utterly destroyed by Texas. Score is misleading.

12. Gave the death blow to an already dying Steelers team that may be the worst team in the league right now.

Our best win remains week 1 fluke to come back and beat the Ravens when they gave us the ball back at the end. They were good then, but their defense still sucked. I guess the Bucs win was ok but man did the defense suck. That’s about it. Those are our noteworthy accomplishments, a fluke comeback in week 1 and a shootout at home against a very injured Bucs team. In between, we had some games we won and lost, quite a few very bad losses.

Don’t tell me about yards. Tell me we’ve had our asses kicked several times and had very few (perhaps none) truly impressive wins.

Go Bills! Let’s get hot and win the SB the year we suck somehow!

“Utterly destroyed by the Texans.” You do know we had more yards than the Texans, right?  The turnovers were killers. We had a legitimate chance to win the game. Would a win have been a little fluky?  Sure. But it was nowhere near being utterly destroyed.

Josh def isn't trusting what he sees.  Whether it's lack of faith in wr, brady not putting him in a position to succeed or D's confusing him who knows

Was surprised to see FoxSports rankings based on yards after this week.  We are 2nd in offense and 8th in defense?!  It has not looked nearly that good to me under the "eye test", but if the D can really be a true top 10 unit and the offense can get it together - we could have something with that kind of balance.  Lotta season left.

Look back at the schedule, and look for  games where you could  say the D “lost” the game.  It would be Baltimore, and even then, they forced a clutch TO (or 2 I can’t remember lol) to help us come back and win.  Atlanta game also comes to mind, but that was only 24 points.  I don’t think they blew the Pats game- that was more the O.  Only 23 points.

The issues this year have been mainly offensive turnovers and lack of a passing threat from our WRs.  Run D is third on that list IMO.

Overall they've been good, very good, really.

But really inconsistent. That's what they've got to iron out. One bad game in the playoffs and the season's over.

Part of it is that we look like a different team when we have Kincaid and Josh Palmer on the field. But will we, when it counts? It's an interesting season, but I feel much less confident for later in the year than I did the last couple of years. I could see us winning the Lombardi, and I could see us out in the first round.

Can’t help who you play but;

Lamar

Maye

Mahomes

Baker

tua x2

fields

mills

dalton

1 armed Rodgers

penix

rattler

twice as many bottom tier QBs as top tier

Tua isn't bottom tier, nor is Dalton. Nor Rodgers, though maybe he's approaching it.

The fact is, only about 1/3 of the QBs in the league are top tier. Most teams face groups like that, a third top tier and two-thirds who aren't. There are exceptions, especially in divisions with a great QB group, but this is how it looks, on average.

Dunno. But everyone should.

There is no one stat, beyond wins and losses, of course, that tells the story perfectly. But when it comes to isolating the performance of an offensive or defensive unit, season yards may be the best one.

Of course, you have to look at all the stats, at the whole story. But total yards is absolutely a key stat.

Agreed about the defense and turnovers.

But no, last year's offense was much more consistent, and just plain better. A lot better so far.

Last year we had three games all season where we scored 20 points or less. Hell, we scored 29 with Trubisky at QB in the last game. This year, four games. So far. Last year eight offensive turnovers total, and only one game with more than one. This year? Suffice it to say that we've been worse. Inconsistency far beyond what the offense showed last year.
