notpolian Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Agree that the way Dunne uses and presents anonymous sources is not conducive to a balanced piece. It ends up looking like a hit piece for those that want to see it that way. However if a significant portion of what is reported is true, wow. Just the possibility that Williams is dyslexic and the 2024 coaches didn't know about it is incredible. A lot of elite athletes have that condition. I'd imagine it would affect a QB more than maybe any other position in sports? I think they have a very promising coaching situation in Chicago now. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out over the next year or so. Still would be tough to be a Bears fan today. Quote

McD took the classy road in doing that follow up meeting with him last year. Because coach is class. Other than that. There's not a real front office that'd give him any access (which is where his Bills beef was born out of). So having no sources inside a front office, hes limited to sources grapes guys out of the league... who also get to hide behind anonymity, while clearly having something to gain by doing so (trying to clear up their reputation- again - anonymously). I think Dunne stumbled on a business model that's keeping his independent reporting afloat: Write up a controversial story on an interesting team, sneakily promote it until bigger media outlets grab onto the story, and then ride the wave of new subscribers for that month who are paying specifically to get access to that story so their preconceived bias can be validated (ex. Bears are a tire fire, McD is a bad coach, etc...). It has to be attention grabbing and sensational (ex. did you see what McD said about the 9/11 HIGHJACKERS!?!?!) otherwise nobody would pay for it. Everytime I've heard Dunne on WGR he seems high on his own farts. If you like drama though he's the guy to read. Edited September 9 by Bruffalo 1 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted September 12 Posted September 12 As much as I hated (maybe still do) the guy, I can't argue that he and Belichick made quite a historic duo. So here is 6minutes of Tom Brady talking about QB Development. (Great Bill Parcells quote in there are the end too!) Contrast what he talks about with Waldron refusing to watch tape with a rookie Caleb Williams... 1 Quote
