So if this is about drug cartels, why is Trump focused on Venezuela instead of Columbia or Mexico? I thought those two nations were most responsible for the drugs entering USA.

Because the US thinks that Maduro is directly involved in drug trafficking to the US.

One of his relatives was arrested and convicted but eventually released on drug trafficking charges.

 

The US, to my knowledge, has not directly tied the Colombian or Mexican political administrations to direct trafficking.

Federal prosecutors have announced the indictment and arrest of 20 individuals, most of them sworn law enforcement officers, in the Mississippi Delta region for allegedly conspiring with Mexican drug cartels to smuggle narcotics into the United States. U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner for the Northern District of Mississippi made the announcement at a press conference on Thursday.[snip] The announcement detailed the results of a years-long federal investigation and sting operation in the Mississippi Delta region, resulting in the indictment and arrest of 20 individuals, including 14 current or former law enforcement officers and six co-conspirators.

U.S. Conducts 17th Military Strike on

Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, announced on Thursday that the United States military has conducted its 17th strike on a suspect narco terrorist vessel traveling on the Caribbean Sea. The strike killed three people, and as usual, no U.S. forces were harmed. The total number of narco terrorists from South America killed in the strikes is now up to 69. As we’ve said before, vessel strikes on narco-terrorists will continue until their the poisoning of the American people stops. Today, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization.
