Zelensky Starts Second Year After Expired Term Knowing Peace Brings His Fall

President Donald J. Trump has spent more time and effort to find peace in Ukraine than a myriad of other domestic and international priorities.
 

His May 19, 2025, phone-shuttle-diplomacy with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is just another example of the patience and love of peace imbued in Trump.

 

The painful truth is that if the Ukrainian War ends, Putin remains in office.

Sadly, it is Zelensky, the leader of my country, who is the barrier to peace, because he knows that when he signs a peace treaty, he is also signing his resignation from office—and all the power he can his cronies have enjoyed while lording over us.

Here's some light reading...

What an extremely blessed life you must have live to believe that battles are always between good guys and bad guys. Zelynskyy is not a good guy, he is very anti democratic and is not helping his country if he is unwilling to work towards a peace accord. The fact that Putin is worse does not make the war still happening 3+ years later a good thing.

Thanks, I do live a blessed life.  I didn't say any of the things that you implied in your above post.  The pro-Russian propaganda on this site is overwhelming.  War is a terrible thing, as this war is a terrible thing.  It was initiated by Putin and Russia and it continues to be aggressively pursued by Russia.  The insinuation that Ukraine can somehow "pursue peace" or "end this war" and remain a country where its citizens are safe and not at the whim of a murderous dictator is nothing but a Russian talking point.  Are you a Russian?  If not, why would you EVER defend its aggression against Ukraine?  

 

I thank the lord every day that our country and its military isn't run by the absolute nancies that post on this thread about how Zelensky should "back down" and end the war in Ukraine.  That country is fighting for its existence.  If that ever happens here, do us all a favor and just go sit down.

Pursuing peace is a Russian talking point? Seriously you are nuts. To point out exactly how nuts you are when I wrote " Putin is worse" you replied with why was I defending I the invasion. at the point that promoting peace causes you to react that way you are mentally unstable.

No, insinuating that somehow Zelensky is at "fault" is a Russian talking point.  He has made multiple attempts at peace but Putin wants NOTHING to do with peace.  Maybe if you understood something about how Putin operates and the type of leader he is you would know this.  If calling me names makes you feel better then have at it.

Pretending Z is some innocent bystander is stupid. He should be pushing for peace due to the fact that his country is being destroyed. He is not going to "defeat" Russia, the question is how much Russia will take or destroy. denying reality simply because Putin is horrible does not change the final outcome.

I’m not pretending anything. The enemy of my enemy is my friend…yeah??

I respect people who will die for honor and freedom from oppression. Whatever your thoughts on Zelenskyy it doesn’t change what Putin has done, is doing and will do to Ukraine if allowed. 
Would you seek a peace where you will be tortured and killed and your children and/or grandchildren will be killed, raped or stolen? Yeah…
