so at 32 it was a push?

it's not a moral victory getting splattered like that

Army had a moral victory but it would refuse to accept it

There is no such thing as a moral victory. That is BS spouted by fans to make themselves feel better

You either win or lose, and you can bet your ass army is pissed they couldn't capitalize

Let's be real for a moment. Nobody thought UB was beating Penn State. That second half sucked but I feel really good going forward. In fact that first half UB looked better than last year's "dream team." We have a REAL defense. Matt Myers can make throws. The kicker can actually make FGs and XPs!!  Sucks the punter got his leg mangled. Hopefully we won't be needing Vantrese (who was named starting punter today) too often this year.  We have a real shot at bowl eligibility, or better, this year. The trouble with UB sports programs is we could never sustain success. We might be doing that now.

The football program is only 20 years old on a D1 level ... That is where the inconsistency stems from

Penn St, Alabama, Oklahoma have all been playing D1 football consecutively for 100 plus years... That's breeds consistency

UB is finally at the spot where they have depth. And that is the difference between a meddling program and a program that contends for division titles

A college program that is 1 deep at a position is in trouble and 1 hit away from a long season... UB finally has backups that can come in and play

And while I wasn't positive that UB would win I definitely didn't think it was a guaranteed loss. I've been on sidelines as an underdog and I know players on the UB team and they all wanted it and believed

Down 28-7 late in the third quarter. 2nd down and 19 from around the Liberty 28-yard line and the next two plays you call are a run and a screen pass to the RB? Basically saying you're playing for a shorter field goal. That's typical Leipold. Playing for 3 points instead of trying to get 7 there when you need a TD way more is ridiculous.

1st and 10 from the Temple 34-yard line - false start

1st and 15 from the Temple 39-yard line - run

2nd and 14 from the Temple 38-yard line - run

3rd and 10 from the Temple 34-yard line - run

Made the long field goal at least.

Leipold and Kotelnicki need to move into this era. To be this obsessed with running is ridiculous.

They don't have a QB who can throw consistently rn 30 times a game

Myers is a freshman and generally looks it

It's gonna be 70% run this season until they improve

They threw the ball tons last year when they had weapons. I don't think you've said 1 positive thing about UB in the thread

Should I be happy running over and over and over again? And we've been doing bad with that strategy. To run on 3rd and 10 instead of passing is just silly.

I've always been one of the most optimistic people for all of Buffalo sports. I'm allowed to criticize poor playcalling though.

TD Myers!

I had to DVR the game. Just got done. After the fumble return for TD (which was reversed) I thought UB was going to get run of the field. But deep down, Temple is still gonna Temple. Great win. Don't get cocky. It wasn't that great.

I don't think UB is ever in the position to be cocky

And Temple looked really good through 2 games. They had votes in the AP poll

MAC refs strike again against UB.

UB was leading 14-3.

Miami kicked a field goal but UB was called for a personal foul for blowing up the center. Replay showed it was actually the guard. Shouldn't have been a penalty. Miami got a TD right after.

Or Myers giving up the ball on back to back drives doesn't help

What does that have to do with a god awful call that gave Miami a TD?

Cus he' just did it again

One call doesn't change a game, you need to fight through that. Bad calls happen

3 turnovers will Lose a game

That still has nothing to do with the refs giving them a TD.

UB can be criticized but the refs gave Miami a TD and that was a costly call.

This playcalling is a joke as always. Constantly run on first and second downs. Leaving third and long and they send a blitz on 3rd down and the pass protection is terrible.

Sure it's a costly call but the refs didn't put 6 on the board. UB still trotted out a defense

They held them 3 times from the 2 before half.. that penalty gave them the ball at like the 7... You still gotta try and stop them and you can

The drive should've been over. The refs gave them a TD instead of field goal. Period.

Again UB can be criticized but the refs screwed UB there also.

Why can't we ever try a screen on 2nd and long instead of a run?

They're being aggressive sending blitzers too. Best way to negate that is a screen. Absolutely zero adjustments by Kotelnicki and Leipold.

Also clear tug of the jersey on that 4th and long by the Miami DB with no call.

Another 4th down play where the DB held Nunn's jersey for awhile slowing him up just enough so the ball went off his fingertips (probably a TD without the hold).. of course no call. Should've been 1st and goal at the 2-yard line. Instead the turnover on downs pretty much ends our chance to win.

UB's play was extremely disappointing but these refs have been terrible and favoring Miami all game.

Leipold calls a timeout right before Ohio jumps offside on 4th and 1 from the 29-yard line. UB would've had first down at the Ohio 24-yard line if he didn't do that with only 1:26 left in a 14-14 game.

Then he tries a 46-yard field goal which is an extremely low percentage play in college instead of going for it on 4th and 1 and of course it's missed.

I bet you'd convert 4th and 1 way more than you would make a 46-yard field goal with a freshman college kicker. Not sure why so many college coaches treat long field goals like a gimme.

At least Ohio got stopped and it's going to OT now but that's still annoying how he cost us a chance to win in regulation there.

UB gets a TD in OT to go up 20-14 and Balter misses the XP. Unreal

Ohio gets the TD and XP to win 21-21.

This isn't reactionary either but I hope Leipold is fired. I hate his coaching style. Such a conservative boring coach who is way too obsessed with running and often tries long field goals with bad kickers. He's such a gutless coach.

Its a tad reactionary. He threw the ball tons last year when he has the parts... Our 3rd WR is a converted QB this season and they lost their top 3 receivers from last season

Leopold is easily the best coach since Turner Gill and axing him would only set back the progress
