Besides, that's fictional unlike Criminal Minds which obviously is realistically realistic. The BAU always get the serial killer in a day or so, unless one of their team is the target in which case it inexplicably takes them years to get the bad guy. You know I think I would have eaten any plant Hannah offered me just for a chance at that. Why Dexter had to go to the NW for wood is beyond me.
