It's all about the public image of the league. Except that you wonder if they're not hurting their image more by outing these guys and suspending them than if they just let them smoke their weed in private and in peace.

Exactly. If no one knew.. then there would be no images hurt.

Everyone buys politicians.

 

The people who pay networks provide the football loving USA with free football for our viewing pleasure. They provide essentially free cash printing business for 32 owners.

 

Tossing 75K to a largely ignored "just say no" outfit is hardly a conspiracy.
