Marrone: changes possible for red zone

There’s little question that Buffalo’s fumble through the end zone for a touchback and fumbled punt return were costly in the loss to Kansas City Sunday, but a close second was going 0-for-4 in the red zone. Buffalo’s red zone touchdown percentage is now ranked 32nd in the NFL at 41.2 percent. Head coach Doug Marrone knows things have to improve in that area of the field and fast, but on a short week changing significantly is a tall order.

Marrone was asked if players acquired in the offseason like Boobie Dixon (goal line back) and Mike Williams (red zone scoring threat) could be used more moving forward to help boost the red zone touchdown efficiency. Marrone didn’t dismiss the possibility, but again pointed to the challenge of having the right depth for special teams needs and other positions that often make it difficult to dress everyone they’d like to have for specialty situations on offense.

mario is getting a newbie too

Miami RT will be a newbie

The Dolphins have no time to experiment when it comes to addressing the offensive tackle positions in the wake of the season-ending injury to starting LT Branden Albert. With Albert going to I-R, rookie right tackle Ju’Wuan James will flip to the left side and guard Dallas Thomas will kick out to right tackle.

That according to Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin. Thomas, who started at left guard Sunday in place of an injury Daryn Colledge, kicked out to right tackle when James went over to the left side. Thomas has not seen a lot of the field since he was made a third-round pick of the Dolphins in 2013. He has yet to have an NFL start at offensive tackle, but it looks like that will change on Thursday night.
