I don't know about that. Fitzgerald has always been a possession and red zone type receiver. Watkins should be more of a vertical threat... You have to take anything Belichick says at a press conference with a grain of salt anyway.

That's exactly who I compare Watkins to actually. I think Watkins is faster and quicker but he's reminded me of Fitzgerald since college.

That's how I feel. His hands and body control are very much like Fitzgerald. He is more explosive than Fitz though.

True. usually BB is just messing with the dumbass media folk because his employer requires it. Sometimes, however, a Belichick PC is like a PHD class in football intelligence. I didn't listen to this one so have no idea where it falls in the above extremes.
