[OT] Official 24 thread

Good Episode last night!

A few good story lines.

Have we seen the last of Driscoll? Since it is only 24 hours, it is possible, but it seems odd that all of a sudden she is gone.

Will Curtis cause disruption because he was passed over?

Will Sarah cause disruption because she was promised so much from Driscoll?

Funny that all of a sudden Tony and Edgar are best buddies.

No siting of Dina Araz and her son last night.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the encrypted report that Paul and Jack printed.

I feel like Driscoll will be back. I think that her daughters death was not a suicide, but rather their is another mole inside CTU.

Also, looks like Reines is turning out to be a pretty good guy.

Yeah, but is he going to make it out of this next episode alive?

According to this morning's Bergen (NJ) Record, the actress who plays Chloe is in a new Fox sketch comedy show premiering this Sunday. So maybe Chloe won't be back. (The Salazar wife-babe got offed last year just when Jack was warming her up because the actress had another commitment, so characters have disappeared from 24 like this before.)

Possibly...I was never really a fan of the woman who played her. She's not exactly the best actress I've ever seen.

I get this feeling that Sarah is really a mole of some sort. Recall that she was falsely accused of leaking info earlier this season and was interrogated by Driscoll. It's not unlike the writers to throw her into the mix again like that.

I agree. Although at times she was better last night. But last week when they showed her seeing her dead daughter for the first time she looked like she was REALLY forcing out the tears. Bad acting.

I called this one before the end of tonight's show: Marwan is going to try and take down Air Force One. Which brings up a problem I have had with the show for the entirety of the season. Why has the president been in the air for 12 fugging hours? Slightly ridiculous, to say the least. And a big waste of jet fuel.

At least CTU sent more than two guys to the shop to help Jack out. And it didn't really bother me, but does anyone else wonder whether Jack's Arab "helpers" in tonight's episode were written in to counter some of the negative stereotypes perpetuated by the rest of the show's portrayals (except perhaps the complexity of Behrooz)?

Whether Paul lives or not will make this interesting. Doesn't look good for him.

Still liking this show, but I'm looking for it to regain the edge those first 4-6 episodes had.

I'm sure that's why they did it. It's been written in several articles that they are writing the show as they film it. So it's easy to change a character here or there and even alter the story as they see fit.

Yep, that bothered me too. I guess it's possible he was flying in to the states from abroad (?).

Definitely. They might as well have been looking at the camera when they were saying "we are Americans too." Oy vey!

If he survives, they're setting up him and Audrey getting back together. I guess it'd be nice for him to turn out to actually be a good guy in the end.

Every season goes through a little dry spell midway through. This one hasn't been too terrible (if you can digest that defense contractors somehow have commando teams handy and minimum wage security guards ready to torture Paul).

If I remember correctly is this not protocol during a terrorist attack? GW was in Air Force One for a good chunk of time after 9/11. It is the safest place he could be during an attack. Especially when nuclear reactors accross the country may meltdown.

I figured something was up when Heller told his advisor that the President should stay in the air. That seemed odd to me, too. Doesn't seem sensible to keep the President in a vulnerable position during a national crisis.

Some other thoughts....

I'm kinda glad they bumped off Sarah. Her job demands in the middle of a crisis like this are a bit far-fetched. I probably would have fired her, too.

I liked the old Michelle Dessler better (i.e., the bad-ass agent she was last season). Seems like they dolled her up a bit too much. I know she's a Division director and all, but still.

As soon as Paul was shot, I figured this was their way to make sure of no "competition" for Audrey. On the other hand, since Audrey seemed pretty shocked by Jack's interrogation tactics, maybe she'd be less inclined to stay with him, if Jack works better in "hell" (as Tony put it).

Does anyone see Tony & Michelle back together? It seems obvious, but maybe so obvious that they'll do it.

Bush was in Florida that morning and from what I recall, wanted to be back in Washington ASAP. He was taken to an AFB in Nebraska (I think), then flew to DC later in the afternoon. Any time Air Force One was in the air, I'm pretty sure there was a serious military escort around the plane.

One thing that really bothered me about this past Monday's episode was the stupid, hackneyed "seemingly dead guy summons up enough strength to ruin a happy ending and wounding (killing) one of the main characters" crap at the end. I know you're supposed to suspend disbelief when watching 24 but Paul getting shot at the end was very reminiscent of say, a Wes Craven movie.

with 15 minutes left in the show....Heller disappears to "help" the President.

and there was no sign of him in the previews next week.

HE IS THE MOLE! HE is the one that set up his own kidnapping. Yeah...I know...he tried to kill himself and his daughter by breaking the gas pipe....but...but....but....awww....hell....I don't know what I'm talking about.

nevermind.

Well, recall the first few minutes of the episode...the President asks Heller to secretly meet with (I think) a high-ranking member of the military to discuss options for declaring martial law if another terrorist attack occurs.

So, we're led to believe that Heller is doing everything to help the President and be the good guy. I wonder (like season 1) if they're trying to write Heller into being the bad guy that helped the terrorists....

Heller's involvement was one of my theories in a previous post. My theory was:

Also another theory: Because the ex-husband of the Sec. of Defense's daughter has a connection to the plot (ownership of the building) could it be that Heller is involved in cooperation with the defense contractor that built the override device? He could have arranged for the terrorists to use the building set up by the ex-husband or something. His involvement would sure explain a lot. How would the terrorists know to leave the room?

Also, I found it curious that the secretary of defense insisted on staying at CTU rather than returning to Washington. He said that he was needed because it "was chaos around here." Could it be that he wanted to be at CTU to monitor, redirect, or downright sabotoge their efforts? Could he have allowed the torturing of his son because he suspected that his Son knew about his potential complicty?

I think this theory is becoming more plausible as the show goes on.

One big hole in the "Heller is in with the terrorists theory". When he was captured, why did he blow away 6 of the with an AK-47 in his first escape attempt? For show?

I would think the President would be safe in some place like NORAD.
