Pro Football Central, what is it, who is it, how reliable is it?

Recommended Posts

Like the title says. Football gurus all, what is this "Pro Football Central" site? Who runs it? And more to the point, any gouge on how reliable it is?

In another thread, someone alluded to this gem from this Pro Football Central site which I would love if true:

Bills To Make A Run At Paul Kruger

March 2nd, 2013 · 19 Comments

The Buffalo Bills have Baltimore Ravens LB Paul Kruger very high at the top of their free agency list and will make a run at the linebacker. The Ravens are not expected to tag Kruger.

They also had the following tid-bits:

Bills Confident Fitzpatrick Will Restructure

The Buffalo Bills are very confident that QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will restructure his contract before the NFL Draft. Fitzpatrick wants to say in Buffalo.

Bills Talking To Nelson

February 23rd, 2013 · Comments Off

Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix said the team have been in contract with the agent for restricted free-agent WR David Nelson and expected to talk to him again before free agency begins.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, this last is right off the Buffalo Bills website from Bills PR-man-journalist Chris Brown:

Bills in touch with Nelson’s agent Posted by Chris Brown on February 23, 2013 – 4:05 pm

Bills GM Buddy Nix said at the NFL Combine that they had been in touch with the agent for receiver David Nelson. “To be honest we’ve talked to David and his agent briefly, but we will follow-up on it before free agency starts,” Nix told reporters.

As a restricted free agent the Bills can tender Nelson a qualifying offer and retain the right of first refusal. That means should another NFL club sign Nelson to an offer sheet the Bills would have the right to match the offer. Buffalo has until March 12th to tender Nelson.

Yahoo Sports reported Friday [the 22nd] that the Bills would not tender Nelson. Another option is signing Nelson to a multi-year contract extension and avoid the restricted free agent process completely.

Nelson missed the last 15 games of the season after tearing his ACL in the season opener against the Jets. He was the team’s second leading receiver in 2011 with 61 receptions.

Note that the stuff about talking to Nelson's agent and the mention of multi-year contract extension (from a Bills shill) took place AFTER the "no tender" announcement, and rather makes it sound as though the Bills may at least be making Nelson a contract offer even though they didn't offer him a 2nd round tender.

The stuff about Fitz restructuring and the Bills pursuing Paul Kruger is NOT to be found on the Bills website.

So once again: any views on how reliable is this site? Is it straight dope or Bleacher Report/Walter Football Part II?

It sort of feels like a few-man show (few-fan show?), but it seems to have a different feel than BR or WF - less blather and opinion, more news-like tidbits

Brian Galiford has an interesting breakdown on some Kruger film on Buffalo Rumblings, along with a schedule for reviews of other FA prospects at the bottom

When there are no bios in the "about us" you find your answer immediately:

ProFootballCentral.com was established in 2006 and became the trend setter in breaking news and information. Pro Football Central Radio Show had all of the big names in the NFL today such as Lance Briggs, Marcus Stroud, Jonathan Vilma, Ronnie Brown, DJ Williams, Anquan Boldin and Braylon Edwards just to name a few.

To make a long story story short PFC then fell on the back burner and then became non existent during its peak. ProFootballCentral.com is now back and better than ever and will satisfy every single craving you the NFL fan has for news, opinions and information!

Profootballcental is powered by a modified wordpress program on our own dedicated servers, and a heavily modified cutline theme.

We highly suggest wordpress for your blog and Cutline by Chris Pearson is a very nice starting point.
