dollars 2 donuts Posted November 16, 2010 Share Posted November 16, 2010 I actually first thought about this a few years ago: Cincinnati has not defeated Buffalo in a game that counts since the AFC Championship Game in January 1989, more than 21 years ago. Sure, we have only played them, I believe 8 times during the regular season since then and we did lose to them in a preseason game, but I have never heard of any other set of teams where one has not beaten the other for 21 years. The one that really told a bit of the tail was a lousy Mularkey team going into Cincy and beating the eventual North Division champs in 05. The most recent; JP's great game against them (maybe his best as a Bill) at the Ralph. Maybe it has been done before but I don't think there is any other current streak longer than this one. If it is true though, May Day, throw this in with the "Tampa didn't play its first regular season game in Buffalo until 33 years after they were founded" category of weird anomaly records. I hate the Bills ! Posted November 16, 2010 Share Posted November 16, 2010 Tampa lost like 25 games in a row before they won a first game. I remember the Bills went from 1966 to 1983 before beating Houston, which was close to a record at the time. And they even played more often than the Bills and Bengals. And, in response to the post about the Tampa in Buffalo streak (33 years before playing there!), that came to mind immediately when reading the original post. With the current rotational setup , that should never happen again. If it stays the same, I know the Bills will be back in Atlanta in 2017. We know Detroit will be back in Buffalo in 2018*. And so on. Within the same conference, the divisional positioning means the likelihood of more matchups, which is why Jacksonville has practically become a divisional rival for the Bills. *assuming the Toronto fiasco has expired, Ralph hasn't, and the Bills remain in Buffalo.
