Bills on Sirius NFL Network

If someone else posted something similar, I do apologize, I didn't see it.

I just got in the car and I only caught the end of the discussion with CG but here is what I picked up

Maybin right now is a specialist one down pash rusher and that he has work to do in order to be a full time starter. He did seem excited about the one job he has right now.

The O line is still a work in progress and that the passing offense will have to be based around the protection strengths ( nothing new there)

The fact that he is new means that that no one is a lock as a starter. If a player was #1 on the depth chart he will have to prove himself to the new staff and that every position is open to competition. He commented that he doesn't really need more motivation than that and that if a player can't get that then they won't be playing.

I must admit, I liked what he had to say and the southern drawl drips football

Like I said, I missed most of the interview and they don't have a schedule for when it might repeat later in the evening. If anyone caught more of it and would like to add I would appreciate it.

Anyone else here the conversation? I'm curious about what further thoughts he had on Maybin. Sounds like the coaching staff does NOT like Maybin on the field in running situations. I have to imagine that Maybin can drop back in coverage better than Torbor, given his speed, height and athleticism. So, it must be goal line and running situations where Maybin is gonna be off the field.

He needs to work at it, but at least the kid is excited to make an impact.

Don't you have to have some skill set that would help you as a pass rusher in the NFL before you get quality 3rd down attacking situations? Maybin had one move last year, get up field as quick as possible. OTs loved it. They just washed him by the play. He never broke down to find the ball, and never showed any signs of knowing what to do after his first move failed miserably everytime. That isn't the guy you give 3rd down to. You do remember that Aaron Schobel did play for the bills last year right. If its a choice between Aarons, I go with Schobels old broke down ass over Maybin last year too. (and this one if he would have come back) Maybins got a ways to go still.

Last 2 1st draft picks are specialists.

Can't do that with a team that hasn't made the playoffs since 1999.

Maybin was a mistake but Spiller was the BPA. How much have we heard the dreaded "R" word when drafting players? Seems we can't win. We are either not filling a need or reaching.
