Usually, the player goes along with what the agent says, because the agent would know better than the player what is a good deal and what isn't. What do you think the agents do to make their money? What you are saying would be like hiring a lawyer and telling the lawyer what to do, which is a complete waste. You are paying for profesional advice and you aren't even getting it because you want to just "take the offer!" If that is all spillar wanted to do, he could just fire his agent and "take the offer" himself. When a financial advisor, a lawyer, and agent, etc, gives you advice, you take it 90% of the time. Sure, they work for you and you can override it, but they usually know more than you about their field, so it is best to take their advice, which is what people do in the real world. Ah, not always. A lawyer's best interest may not be the same as his client's. Most never want to argue before a jury. Financially, it is far more beneficial for them to settle or plead out than to argue in open court. Also, the defendant may have expertise relating to his defense that it is impossible for the lawyer to possess, in which case it is crucial for the defendant to guide his defense. As for "financial advisor"---you must be joking. They only make money when they make a transaction with your money--particularly when selling you securities products. They will always tell you not to move your money, no matter how bad the market is performing. They are hopelessly conflicted. By the way, I never advocated the kid take the first offer he sees.
