  1. Problems with Mallett becoming a Bill:

    1) First and foremost, if Arkansas beats 'bama next week, Mallett is probably the leading candidate for the Heisman;

    2) The Bills will have to finish either dead last, or all the teams that finish with worse records than Buffalo pass on Mallett because they already have a star QB;

    3) If #1 & #2 hold true (Mallett wins the Heisman AND Buffalo has the #1 overall pick), will Ralph pony up for an $80M contract with $50M+ guaranteed???

A more likely scenario is Gabe Carimi in round one and Jake Locker in round 2 (or maybe someone like Taylor Potts in round 4).

With all due respect Senator...the later round QBs we have taken, have not worked out. We do not have 3-5 years for a QB to be developed, we need a stud who can step in from day 1 like Stafford and Bradford, and be the face of this franchise. We need an identity...and someone who non-Bills fans will recognize. If we have a shot at one of these QBs and they are all rated in the 1st round, and we DONT take one...I will turn in my Bills fan-club membership card.

The Chargers were given an identity with 2 star players...Tomlinson and Rivers...

We have Spiller...Now, lets go get Mallett!!!

A buddy of mine is a Michigan fan and he LOVED this kid when he played at Michigan...and I think he fits in PERFECTLY in Buffalo!

  2. The difference in value between a 4th and a 6th round pick is minuscule.

    4th rounders:

    2010 9 107 Marcus Easley WR Connecticut

2009 21 121 Shawn Nelson TE Southern Mississippi

    2008 15 114 Reggie Corner DB Akron

    2008 33 132 Derek Fine TE Kansas

2007 12 111 Dwayne Wright RB Fresno State

2006 8 105 Ko Simpson DB South Carolina

    2005 21 122 Duke Preston C Illinois

2003 14 111 Terrence McGee DB Northwestern State (LA)

2003 30 127 Sam Aiken WR North Carolina

*1985 2 86 Andre Reed WR Kutztown (PA)

    6th rounders:

2010 9 178 Arthur Moats LB James Madison

2010 23 192 Dan Batten DE South Dakota State

    2009 10 183 Cary Harris DB USC

2008 13 179 Xavier Omon RB Northwest Missouri State

    2007 10 184 John Wendling DB Wyoming

2006 9 178 Keith Ellison LB Oregon State

    2005 23 197 Justin Geisinger G Vanderbilt

    2003 14 187 Lauvale Sape DT Utah

*1985 1 141 Mike Hamby DT Utah State

I would take the 4th rounders ANYTIME over the 6th rounders, especially in 1985 and 2003!

There is a HUGE difference between a 4th and 6th round draft picks!

(Also, didnt I say that Joique Bell would end up just like Omon and Wright? LOL!)

  3. Just got off the phone with him....no slotting expected this season and he and his crew are staying in Lot 1

Just curious why this is so important that it couldn't be put in the thread that was already dedicated to this topic?

Not only was this on the same front page as yours...it was only 9 threads down the page! :wallbash:

    http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/119547-nfl-draws-line-on-pinto-kens-bowling-ball-shots/

  4. Or the explanation can be as simple as Nix & the Bills scouting staff not liking McNabb.

. . . or maybe Buddy did not go after McNabb in the off season.

So the ineptitude of our front office is still at an all-time high...and this would go to prove it, if true!

    Edwards+Fitzpatrick+Brohm+Brown < Donovan McNabb

Has Wailey accepted his promotion yet? :worthy:

  5. Luck or Bust. Too much inconsisten tape on all the other guys out there to date.

    2010 will be interesting

-Can Luck carry his team as the offense gets away from its run first mentality?

-Can Locker fix his accuracy issues and learn a more pro style O?

-Can Mallet fix his accuracy issues, and will he be hurt by playing under Petrino?

-Keenam, System or player? Kolb or Brennan?

-Ponder, can he prove he is NFL good?

I see Luck with the highest chance to succeed.

PS Matt Moore may be a FA too.

Too much inconsistent tape on Locker, Mallet and Keenam???

Haha...Is Andrew Luck not only a Sophomore? How can he have more consistent tape than the other guys?

  6. I can't stand writers who cannot write...

The comparisons Locker has heard since high school are with John Elway. They embarrasses him — "I don't think I can gain anything from it," he says — but note this about the two-time Super Bowl winner and pro Hall of Famer: Elway barely had one winning season at Stanford, at 6-5 in 1980, and left with a four-year record of 20-23.

"He said, 'Make a decision that, when you're my age (45), you're not going to regret. You want look back and go: What if I had done this? What might I have been able to do?' " Locker says.

You still won't find him ranked among the nation's 30 most efficient passers or even among the top five in the Pacific 10 Conference (he's 28th overall and sixth in the Pac-10, due in part to a still-modest completion rate). But every additional day with Sarkisian, himself a former standout quarterback and Brigham Young, and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier is a valuable one. Locker is taking on polish and precision.

Do these people NOT have editors?

If a high school or college kid makes those mistakes, he gets a bad grade and has to repeat the assignment...

...If a USA Today writer makes those mistakes, his story gets published and he gets paid?!

Doesn't make ANY sense to me! :censored:

  7. Well at least the Giants and Falcons were on the phone with him about to draft him when the Bills selected him. That means he wasn't some crazy reach when they selected him and got fair prospect value for the pick.

Oh, I totally agree with you there...

Just saying...there have been guys like him who we thought we would get something out of, and they flopped.

  8. Fair or not, there are very high expectations of CJ Spiller. He was the top running back selected in this draft, a top 10 overall draft pick, and drafted to a team with two already established running backs.

So, to validate the pick, Spiller should turn out to be a better player than Ryan Matthews and Jahvid Best, the other first round RBs this year. Also he should prove to be measurably better than Lynch and Jackson. Finally, one would hope he turns out on par with other RBs drafted in the top 10 in recent years.

Here is a list of running backs selected in the top 10 since 2000:

    Jamal Lewis

    LaDainian Tomlinson

    Ronnie Brown

    Cedric Benson

    Cadillac Williams

    Reggie Bush

    Adrian Peterson

    Darren McFadden

C'mon Chan, give this kid the ball. I'm talking 20 carries this week. He's got a LOT of work to do!

Spiller is not an every down back. You cannot compare CJ Spiller to the likes of Ryan Matthews, Jamal Lewis, Ronnie Brown, Cedric Benson, Adrian Peterson and Darren McFadden. Those are every down backs who can punish tacklers. Spiller cannot do that...he is more in the mold of Reggie Bush, who I think he'll resemble the most...which doesnt say much.

Lynch SHOULD BE the starter on this team. He would be a Top-10 RB in the NFL if he were given some carries once in a while...and dont talk about him dancing too much, did you see Spiller last week auditioning for Dancing With The Stars???

Jahvid Best will probably end up being on par with, or better than...CJ Spiller.

  9. HA! i just completed another three yard pass. HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW, BOYEEEE? yeah, you think you tough but how tough you gonna be when im twewv of foteen for tirdy-sevum yards?? HUH? CHUMP?? see dis right hmya? dis is MA GUN!!!! ma gun that can complete long passes ONCE EVERY THREE GAMES!!!! yeah dats right you scared

Given the fact that Trent went to college at Stanford...I highly doubt that is how he talks.

He may be many things, a ****ty QB among those things...but I highly doubt he is a piss poor speller, who talks in ebonics!

  10. http://www.amazon.com/Standing-Tall-Kevin-Everett-Story/dp/1600781411

I bought this book the day it came out...it is an amazing read...and I especially enjoyed it since I was a Miami Hurricanes fan for most my childhood and I followed Kevin and wanted the Bills to draft him!

I REALLY think he would have developed into a VERY good tight end for this football team!

I am happy he beat the odds and is doing very well!

  11. No total count on refusal of admission to the Ralph. Just the usual drunk get kick out try to come back in get charge for tresspassing. A couple of marijuanna arests. A couple of exposure chaarges. out of 29 arested 8 were woman. And the highlite,

A 54 year old Tonawanda woman, who became irate with security after she was asked to go to the end of the line designated for woman after

she attempted to enter through a location designated for men. She then lifted her shirt and yelled, " I give consent to be searched by the guys." 2 charges of disorderly conduct was placed.

They must have been drinking out of bowling balls over in LOT 1! :flirt:

  12. irregardless of the fact that irregardless is not a word, my mom and dad did bowling ball shots together with me. just because we are all drunks doesnt mean we are any less of a family

The NFL should employ people who aren't so stupid. "Irregardless" :wallbash:

    http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/irregardless

Irregardless of the fact that irregardless has been a word since the 1920's...People should be careful of who they call "stupid!"

    :oops::wallbash::oops:

  13. I like Moats and I hope he does very well...but he just reminds me of another Nic Harris, Ashlee Palmer, Marcus Buggs and Alvin Bowen!

All productive college LB's (with the exception of Harris) who we drafted, and they failed.

But, just like Harris...we drafted a guy who is a "tweener", really no specific position he fits at.

However, this guy was drafted by a different regime...so I will give him 2 years to show me something...THEN I will throw him in the pile with the likes of Harris, Palmer, Buggs and Bowen!

  14. And how about all those QBs who are supposedly so much better than TE. Let's start with Sunday's game and Chad Henne. Then Sanchez. Jay Cutler. Cassel. Anderson. Josh Freeman. Kevin Kolb. Dixon. Matt Moore. Romo. Smith. Ryan. Orton. I am not making excuses for His Awfulness, just pointing out that he's far, far from alone in today's NFL.

I would take ANY one of them over Trent Edwards!

The fact you are comparing half of them to Edwards shows your football IQ level is not very high!

  15. Fred sees spaces and attacks them better than Marshawn or CJ. Please start him and use the other two as a change up. Also at least three times Edwards had to redirect CJ to get him in position before the snap.

I'll say it again and again 'til I am blue in the face...

Marshawn Lynch is the BEST overall RB on this football team. He is the workhorse. The bruising RB that Buffalo Bills football needs to be successful. He should have 20 carries a game.

Jackson is a good change of pace back. He can be used in a couple different ways. He makes for a good 3rd down RB.

Spiller is your dynamic playmaker that should be lined up ALL over the field. Outside, in the slot or backfield...Wildcat...use him as a return man...get him on the field as much as possible to form mismatches.

They need to control the game with the run like Miami did. Lynch and Jackson are the safest bets. Spiller lined up in other positions will make the line and run game better...get him in open space where he works best...same with Roscoe.

  16. I wish Mike Vick would just die and get taken back to Hell by his father so we can all stop reading posts by his sickeningly apathetic apologists. You guys would draft Adolf Hitler if he could throw a spiral.

    Um, yes...I would...

It's f*cking football, not politics. I want to see my team win, that is what I pay hard-earned money for...not to support the lively-hood of some charity donating, honor-roll choir boy...because he is a "small-school product with a motor and good heart."

GOOD teams take risks on "FOOTBALL PLAYERS"...the Buffalo Bills do not!

  17. I'm thrilled this young upstard earned his way onto our final 53 man roster! Moats is a diamond in the rough who will soon become a household name to the Bills' faithful. Kudos for Gailey for giving this kid a shot. I have no doubt it will pay off big time.

    Your thoughts?

    Go Moats! Go Bills!!

He will stick around a year like Alvin Bowen, Ashlee Palmer, Nic Harris, Marcus Buggs...and be gone next year.

He proved nothing other than he is a small-school, undersized player who does not belong in the NFL.

  18. I was thinking about our linebackers, and how a lot of people don't think we'll be able to pressure the QB enough this year. I could see, in my mind, plays we have had this preseason, see Maybin running past the Qb, Moats getting close, and this occurred to me: Maybin is often being pushed by the Qb, he's going so fast his momentum and light weight relative to the tackles makes it easy for them to push him out of the QB's path.

How would Maybin fare coming from straight on? If he were rushing from an ILB spot, would he fare better? Do his skill sets allow for him to play on the inside?

And Moats - maybe he's best fit for the inside, we do have Coleman and Batten on the outside, along with Ellis, who are young and have potential - but Moats, he looks pretty big and pretty quick, kind of reminds me of Orakpo. Would Moats work on the Outside? Maybe switch the two?

It's just an idea - does anyone think it could work?

Comparing Moats to Orakpo is the funniest thing I have EVER heard!
