  1. I'm glad the Bills finally have some tall WR's that can play. At one point a few years ago, all the Bills WR's were under 6 ft tall. Ever since 2002, I've been hoping the Bills could get another great combo of WR's like we had with Moulds & Price. Maybe next year or in the coming years, we'll see a good combo (or even a trio) again.
  2. The Bills had multiple 20+ yard receptions today, so the "15 yards down field" statement is very exaggerated. I do have to agree that the Bills did not have a deep threat/speedster today, but you don't always have to have a deep threat on your team if you have a QB that can spread it around and has a good short-to-intermediate game (like Brady & the Pats before they got Welker & Moss).
  3. That's the difference between "the unknown 4" & Evans, the WR's today were able to outleap & outmuscle their DB's, something Evans has a very hard time doing.
  4. Evans has dropped much more than a few passes this year. Look at the difference today with Stevie as the #1 WR, Stevie was able to outmuscle the DB for the TD, something Evans has been unable to do.
  5. Congrats to Stevie for having a good game today & a nice breakout season! I hope Stevie gets 80+ receptions 1000+ yards & gets more than 11 TDs for the Bills TD record.
  6. I've seen Evans drop plenty of catchable balls this year. As far as Evans not getting enough deep passes thrown to him...I think the big problem with the Evans fan club is that they expect all the Bills to constantly throw it deep like Losman did, and that's not going to happen. Losman's game was the deep ball, but sucked at the short-to-intermediate range. For anyone to expect Fitz to throw it deep 6-8 times a game to Evans is delusional.
  7. I agree, we have our QB, plus "The Unknown 4" are taking full advantage of the opportunities they are getting. IMO, the Bills should trade Evans and stockpile as many picks as possible (the Pats & Chiefs have had success in doing that). With Easley waiting in the wings, IMO, all the Bills need is a good pass-catching TE and another Tackle, then the Bills will be set on offense.
  8. There was a lot of speculation of how much other teams double-team Evans, which has supposedly been the reason why S. Johnson & D. Nelson's production has increased. Steve Johnson was the #1 WR today, saw the double-coverages, and was still able to have a solid game. Also, David Nelson had his best game in his young NFL career. So, was Evans absence really noticed today?
  9. Two wins in a row!!! Go Bills!!!
  10. We need a nice, long drawn out drive that takes a lot of time off the clock.
  11. Is it time to look for another punter? Moorman is really having an off-year this year?
  12. Go Stevie!! Now that's what a #1 WR is supposed to do, outmuscle a DB. Anyone missing Evans today?
  13. Glad to see D. Nelson having a great game so far. Is anyone missing Evans or even notice he's not there?
  14. The coaches are high on David Nelson. Over the last two weeks, Nelson's production has increased and IMO will continue that way. I don't know if we'll see Nelson having similiar type numbers as Johnson did earlier in the season (with 100+ yard games and multiple TD's), but it will be nice to see what our rookies can do now that our veteran WR's (Evans & Parrish) are out for the season.
  15. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2010/12/15/1877088/bills-13-browns-6-notes-from-the-o-line-week-14 With Eric Wood lined up at Center for the entire day, Andy Levitre had his best stats of the year in run blocking. I'm looking forward to seeing how Wood & Levitre are going to do the rest of the season. Like others have said, if Wood continues to play the way he did on Sunday at Center, he should remain there permanently.
  16. Isn't that the truth. The only move I've ever seen Maybin make is the one where he goes fast to the outside, and lowers in shoulder so he can try and get underneath of the O-lineman and get to the QB...his 'bread and butter...crumb and oleo' move has yet to work in the NFL...guess that's his arsenal of moves.
  17. Good post and all great points.
  18. Wow, who pissed in your cornflakes? Tell me, what GM has hit on every single draft pick they ever made? IMO, Modrak came in with Donahoe and should have been fired with Donahoe. The Bills have been filled with would of's, should of's, could of's for years. If Ralph didn't fire Bill Polian, the Bills would of... If the Bills wouldn't have put Rob Johnson in the wild card game vs the Titans, the Bills could of... If the Bills would have drafted McKinnie, Ngata, Revis, Oher/Matthews/Orakpo instead of Mike Williams, Whitner, Lynch and Maybin the Bills should of... All of it happened, but yet we still follow the Bills.
  19. Kind of sounds like Haynesworth a little bit. IMO, if you're getting paid by an employer, you do whatever job it is they want you to do, not do whatever it is you want to do. I'd rather have a hungry 6th rounder who's willing to do whatever is asked of him and whatever it takes to succeed, than a spoiled 1st rounder or a supposedly football star (Haynesworth) anytime.
  20. "I feel like it's all getting better," Maybin said. "The counters and all those moves you use to offset your speed, you have to still play within the continuity of the defense. If you have to maintain outside position, you can't take an inside move and you can't counter inside. With a lot of that stuff, I have to kind of shackle my game a little bit to play within the scheme of the defense and what we need out there, which is we need everybody to play technically sound. So when we do get a little bit of freedom out there, I do like to go to my arsenal of moves and try to throw some things together that guys haven't seen before." He was criticized by Gailey in that same article for needing to know exactly where to play and how to play the run." If Maybin would counter more to the inside, he would have a better chance of getting to the QB. But according to Maybin's quote, he doesn't like to counter to the inside.
  21. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2010/12/14/1875879/bills-te-shawn-nelson-will-miss-remainder-of-season Nelson only had 3 catches for 25 yards this year...DAMN!!! I wonder if he will be cut loose in the offseason?
  22. Great post!! Thanks for the list of players the Bills picked up. After looking at all the players the Bills picked up, it shows they are really trying to improve this team. Like others have said, it does look like Nix & Whaley are bringing in a lot of players for tryouts. Most people knew going into the season, that this year would be one long pre-season for the Bills as Nix, Whaley & Gailey would use this year as a long evaluation period for the players on the team. I expect the Bills to have a good amount of turnover as players the FO/coaches feel won't work out will be cut loose.
  23. It definitely looks like the Bills are bringing in a lot of guys in for tryouts. I'm glad to see it. Gailey did say they're always looking to to improve and upgrade the team and he's living up to his word. What I like about Nix & Gailey, is that they are quick to get rid of the players that aren't working out (Like Trent Edwards & Cornell Green).
  24. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2010/12/14/1875470/report-bills-to-sign-ol-colin-brown-former-chief-and-raven With Cordero Howard most likely going to IR, looks like the Bills are trying to add to their O-line with Colin Brown. Brown is 6'8" 325 lbs. While Brown has played Guard, he sounds like he would be a good fit at Tackle. Also, Chad Rinehart (who was just activated from the practice squad) impressed Gailey with his play on Sunday and will be the starting RG this Sunday. I have to give credit to Nix, Whaley & Gailey for picking up players that can be effective while they are losing their starters to injury. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2010/12/13/rinehart-to-start-at-rg/
  25. IMO, Fitz has been improving and with more time, will continue to improve. Remember, Fitz was getting reps with the 2nd team in training camp & through the preseason. He was the backup to Trent Edwards for the first 2 games of the regular season. Also, Bills do not have a true #1 WR and don't have a solid pass-catching TE. So, with all of that, I'd say Fitz is doing very well with the tools he has to work with. It's unknown at this point if Easley can become the Bills #1 WR or if Steve Johnson can, but I'd like to see what Fitz and Gailey can do once the Bills have a real #1 WR & a good pass catching TE in place.
