  1. I'm not ready to trade my seat on the TE bandwagon for a pitchfork and torch but #5 better start proving that he's the man...and fast.
  2. I think that most of the posts in this thread are dead on. What we saw last night WAS the all too familiar Dickie J coached football. My optimism for this upcoming season was seriously diminished. Stroud was an absolute non-factor last night and his acquisition was a key factor in thinking this D would be improved. The theory was that Stroud would command double teaming, therefore clearing the way for other D-linemen and 'backers to make plays. Stroud was ABSOLUTELY HANDLED by a guard one on one every time. The one time he was double teamed on a run play, he was driven back 7 yards. This guy has done alot of talking, he had better start showing. You make a good point about mini-camps, etc... I don't want to hear the "It's just the first preseason game excuse". Another BIG problem that I had with last night's game was ending TE's night with a 1-5 performance after two crappy drives. I DON"T CARE WHAT DICKIE J"S EXPECTATIONS OF PLAYING TIME WERE COMING INTO THE GAME. I don't care what the traditional formula for playing starters in the PS is. When you are installing a new O and your 2nd year man is not finding his rhythm, THEN LEAVE HIM IN A LITTLE LONGER TO WORK ON IT!!! It's called adaptation, improvisation, pull your head out of your arse and think on your feet Dick. What was the hurry to give JP a quarter plus when TE got two lousy drives? Another thing that bothered me was TE's response to his poor performance. " We're in a different situation -- with crowd noise and the play clock". That's the same reply he gave when the O stunk in the first night practice in camp. Are you kidding me with this BS? You're the starting qb of an NFL team and you're whining about the play clock, crowd noise, and lights? Not good. In conclusion, I'm disappointed with the all too familiar BS I saw last night. It is early in the PS, so I will stay tuned and roll with the punches. But if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck........
  3. Stroud was HANDLED 1 on 1 in the first quarter. The one time he was double teamed on a run play, he was driven back 7 yards. Not exactly awe inspiring!
  4. I really question Jauron pulling Edwards after 2 lackluster series. The guy needs some work -- keep him in. You already know what you have in JP. Give TE the reps.
  5. I'm glad to get the game live on NFL Network, but the feed is from the Redskins Network!
  6. That's pretty lame! At least Football season is here! Time to set the DVR! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BILLS!!!!!!!!!
  7. According to Bills Daily, Hardy is not only playing, but starting tonight. BTW, glad to see another NObama '08 supporter!
  8. Hopefully the offensive philosophy of run on fist and second down, then pass on 3rd & 5 left the building with Steve Stepchild!
  9. I can't comment on how he's doing, but this makes me want to root for him.
  10. Tight end ? I think I've heard of other teams still using that position. But as a Bills fan I'm not too sure that it really exists.
  11. ... I know, I could have just said "everything, but that would have made a pretty short thread. 2. We do have Poz and K Mitchell this year but A LOT of this team's potential is riding on Stouds ability to stay healthy and return to his old form. 4. A lot of drives were ended last year by incompletions to ML. They definitely need to improve on that. 5. That is simple addition by subtraction. 10. No doubt that Peters will be missed. Last year I thought that the O line was much better at pass protection than run blocking. I would like to see an improvement there. And most importantly... NO INJURIES!
  12. The PS opener will be a good test for the Bills. The Redskins have a game under their belt. A game in which they looked very sharp and disciplined. I'm psyched to see the '08 Bills in action. Some of the things I will focus on: -- How does TE look in running the new O? -- Does JP still look like an inaccurate asz clown and will he be outplayed by GH? -- The DT play, how will Stroud, McCargo, and Spencer Johnson look? -- How will Poz do coming off of his injury? -- How will new additions James Hardy, Kawika Mitchell, and Xavier Omon look? -- Who will be the diamond(s) in the rough that shine tonight? Possibly one of the 10 receivers that are in camp. Anyway, 7:00 can't get here soon enough. What will you be looking for?
  13. FINALLY a rational response to the Jets signing Favre . OMG people, deep breaths, DEEP BREATHS. We are not doomed because the Jets signed a guy who is turning 39 in a month. The only thing Favor will accomplish in NY is tarnishing his legacy and prove that he should have stayed retired. I put them @ 1-3 going into their bye week and 7-9 for the season. I wouldn't want him on our team and he won't be successful with the Jets. CHILAX. We are not DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!
  14. Keep raising taxes, fines, fees, and tolls. If NY politicians could do it, they would tax every breath you take. But wait, the savior Hillary Clinton is going to make good on all of her campaign promises any day now, Right?
  15. Well the first days are the hardest days, Don't you worry any more, 'Cause when life looks like easy Street, there is danger at your door. Grateful Dead -- Uncle John's Band. I'm going to rent myself a house In the shade of the freeway I'm going to pack my lunch in the morning And go to work each day And when the evening rolls around I'll go on home and lay my body down And when the morning light comes streaming in I'll get up and do it again Amen Say it again Amen I want to know what became of the changes We waited for love to bring Were they only the fitful dreams Of some greater awakening I've been aware of the time going by They say in the end it's the wink of an eye And when the morning light comes streaming in You'll get up and do it again Amen Caught between the longing for love And the struggle for the legal tender Where the sirens sing and the church bells ring And the junk man pounds his fender Where the veterans dream of the fight Fast asleep at the traffic light And the children solemnly wait For the ice cream vendor Out into the cool of the evening Strolls the pretender He knows that all his hopes and dreams Begin and end there Ah the laughter of the lovers As they run through the night Leaving nothing for the others But to choose off and fight And tear at the world with all their might While the ships bearing their dreams Sail out of sight I'm going to find myself a girl Who can show me what laughter means And we'll fill in the missing colors In each other's paint-by-number dreams And then we'll put out dark glasses on And we'll make love until our strength is gone And when the morning light comes streaming in We'll get up and do it again Get it up again I'm going to be a happy idiot And struggle for the legal tender Where the ads take aim and lay their claim To the heart and the soul of the spender And believe in whatever may lie In those things that money can buy Thought true love could have been a contender Are you there? Its all gonna fade Now I sit by my window And I watch the cars I fear Ill do some damage One fine day But I would not be convicted By a jury of my peers Still crazy after all these years Oh, still crazy Still crazy Still crazy after all these years Paul Simon -- Still Crazy After All These Years.
