  1. I want to suck at my job everywhere I go (4 1/2 year and 4 different teams) and have people lining up to sing my praise. Daboll has been terrible as an offensive coordinator at every NFL stop. Buffalo so far is no different. Two TDs in the last 5 games and counting. No TDs our last 50 drives starting in our own territory. The worst scoring offense the league has seen since the 2006 Raiders. There is not a shred of empirical evidence that the guy can run an NFL offense as an OC given stops in Cleveland, Miami, Kansas City, and now Buffalo. Every place he goes his team is last in the league in offense, or close to it. But, yeah, his play calling and schemes are great. Because one talking head said so on twitter or the radio. Data and empirical evidence play not role in today's society. I get that we're trotting out rookies and street free agents at the QB position and I don't expect miracles. Not a single person on this forum won't agree that our talent on offense is sub-par. But, we're historically terrible on offense. It's a level of incompetence rarely seen in modern NFL history. And, there is no way in hell Daboll doesn't play a significant role in that level of ineptitude. You can hear the frustration in Coach McD's voice when he answers questions about the offense (e.g., the post-game interview on Monday). Personally, I'd be stunned if Daboll is here next season (and he might not make it through the bye week).
  2. If our coaching staff was wise, they'd have Peterman take part in tackling drills this week.
  3. We're very active. Our activity is HUUUUGE. You've never seen any team as active as the Bills. Believe me. Would you look at our front office? They're fantastic. They do a wonderful job. They are some really great people.
  4. Our best two QBs current play TE (Logan Thomas) and WR (Terrelle Pryor). ...I like the pickup. Any veteran with a bit of athleticism looks to be an instant positional upgrade. Pryor may have slowed down a little bit but he ran a 4.38 at the combine.
  5. To chime in... We have one of the best running backs in the game yet he barely touches the ball, and many players who have had at least moderate success elsewhere (Benjamin, Clay, etc.). We ran the Wildcat 10 times yesterday! 10! The first time or two it was fine. Then every time afterward it got blown up. ...and we kept f'ing running it! We have a massive 6'5 receiver who lacks deep speed. Do we ever throw the slant to him (or any other receiver)? Ever? No, we send him deep even though he doesn't have the speed to beat average cornerbacks. We ran a flee flicker with the tight end as the intended target. Who does that? How often do we run screen passes? ...IMHO, an offense is all about creating mismatches and we simply don't do that. Again, no one is saying we have Pats-level talent. But, we've scored two touchdowns in 5 weeks and are on pace to be one of the worst offenses in modern history. Talent aside, this is a lousy scheme. I don't expect miracle with this roster, but a touchdown every now and again isn't a ridiculous ask in a league where scoring is way up.
  6. Talent versus coaching can be debated endlessly, but the empirical evidence shows that we have an offensive coordinator who has never had success anywhere he's been. The last time Brian Daboll was an NFL offensive coordinator was the 2012 Kansas City Chiefs. It was the only offense this decade to average fewer than 14 points per game (we're currently far worse at only 10.9 ppg). That 2-14 Chiefs team had Jamaal Charles at running back, Dwayne Bowe at wide receiver, 4 year starter Matt Cassel at QB, etc. Certainly enough talent to score every once in a while. The next season with mostly the same players (although with Alex Smith at QB) and Andy Reid calling plays, the Chiefs went 11-5, made the playoffs, and had one of the league's better offenses. Of course we need more talent on offense, no one would argue otherwise. But, 4.5 seasons with 4 different teams and there is simply no evidence that Daboll has any idea what he is doing as an offensive coordinator. I have no doubt he could do better with more talent, but so could the universe of other potential offensive coordinators. The real question is: could someone else do better with this exact same collection of players? I think the answer is "yes." https://arrowheadaddict.com/2018/01/15/brian-daboll-somehow-able-find-meaningful-nfl-work-2018/
  7. I don't want to sound like an educator or anything but 87/8 = 10.875. ? I posted this in the GDT but probably should have posted it here... No team has averaged fewer points per game since the 2006 Oakland Raiders averaged 10.5. And, the last team to average less than 14 points per game (two touchdowns per game) was the 2012 Kansas City Chiefs. And, their offensive coordinator was our very own Brian Daboll. Is it talent? Is it scheme? Is it play calling? I'm of the opinion that it is all of the above. Everyone can see we need more talent on offense. But, we also have a coordinator who has never had much success as an OC anywhere in the NFL (Buffalo being his 4th stop).
  8. This offense is historically bad - only two touchdowns in the past 5 weeks. No team has averaged fewer points per game (10.88 at current) since the 2006 Oakland Raiders (10.5). In fact, no team has averaged less than 14 points per game since Kansas City did it in 2012. Guess who their offensive coordinator was? Yeah, our very own Brian Daboll. This is much larger than Anderson/Peterman/Allen looking suspect.
  9. To defend Anderson a little bit, the dude was just trying to make a big play late in the game down two scores. The first 55 minutes of the game put him in that position.
  10. Anderson has played for over a decade yet somehow never learned that you have to look off the safety. ...because. ...Bills.
  11. Of course. That was Peterman-like. I've never seen a more "Buffalo" play.
  12. ...but why isn't it pass interference if the DB is holding his other hand?
  13. Cam Phillips. First NFL catch! (as a Virginia Tech alum, I like that)
  14. He has sucked at every NFL stop. Seriously, look up his record. Here, I'll do it for you: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/DaboBr0.htm Yes, the talent is sub-par, but the passing schemes are a mess.
  15. I don't expect miracles, we don't have a ton of talent, but ask people in Kansas City what they think of Brian Daboll. Ask folks in Cleveland. Or in Miami. The guys was absolutely terrible as an OC everywhere he has been.... and he's been terrible in Buffalo.
  16. I feel bad for our defense because they've played their hearts out and did everything they could do. Our offense is just such a mess that it doesn't even matter what our defense does.
  17. Well designed passing schemes. Something we know nothing about in Buffalo.
  18. Anderson pulled a Peterman and stared down his receiver. Argh.
  19. I definitely do. It fits everything we've seen from our GM, which is amass cap space and picks for next season.
