  1. The Pirate reference is actually a Jimmy Buffett reference, he has a song a pirate looks at 40 and a book a pirate looks at 50, but I grew up going to Pirates games at the Three Rivers in the early 80s and maybe the late 70s... I can't rightly remember. I used to love Stargell until I sent him a letter as an 8-year-old and he sent me a form letter back with an order sheet to "order" an autographed photo, a yellow star badge for my pirates hat or whatever else an 8-year old felt he could "afford." Too young to remember Clemente, but I'm enough a purist/student of the game to know he was a true man in every sense of the word among men. Taken away far too early.
  2. uncanny.... dead on to almost every freakin detail. Mood: Sofisticat Fun: Escape Artist Habits: High Time Roller Love: Love Bug Wow... very wierd, but true in every way.
  3. Sweet Fancy Moses!!! I saw that article this morning at work and I thought.... "why couldn't the girls that looked boy-ish in our school look like that?" Now Sean Young, there's a chick who's man-ish to me...
  4. He should listen to music from some "pretentious" rock band then... Just kidding... don't want to start that thread over here too. You're right I trust him as far as I can throw him.... (and with my bad knee I shouldn't be throwing anyone) Name that movie????
  5. Mingia Dean I was wondering if I was the only one on the board at this ungodly time of night. Yeah the cult was way ahead of their time. Thanks for TWO altamont refs in one day. Probably more than I've had in the last 15 years.
  6. Wow, my cousin lived on right across from the elementary school that butted up to the Fair grounds in Altamont. We used to go out there in the summer for the tri-county fair as kids. My senior year (in 1989) I went back up on my own for a nostalgia trip and we got someone to get us wrist bands for the beer tents. What a blast!!! Never thought this morning when I woke up I'd have a random "Altamont Fair" reference. Did you go to Guilderland or grow up IN altamont? Oh yeah my last demolition derby was either the Cattaraugus County fair in the early 80s or the Stockton Gala Days around the same time.
  7. I have to say even though I'm a bug Georgetown-honk I've got to admit the Cuse got a less-than-fair shake. They probably deserved at least a 14 seed SOMEWHERE (but when you have all the automatic births you risk snubbing some teams). Though no one asked, the media out here is crying foul that Air Force didn't get it, but yet all week they said they had a "must-win" game in the opening round if they expected to get into the dance. Hypocrits... bottom line for SU and AF you have to take care of business (any extended suck-streak) will put yourself in a hole that's awfully hard to climb out of. That said, I think (read: hope) the Hoyas have a great chang to get to the top of their bracket based on the rest of the field. But then again, being a Sabres and Bills fan I know anything can happen... and usually does.
  8. Well we at least agree on one thing with Meatloaf. Like I said I like them in the beginning, but then they got very popular and... okay you know what I'll give you this to chew on and maybe I'm a little misguided in my view, but it might just be their "bandwagon" fans turned me off. Although I felt Michael Stipe was on a self-made pedistal sometimes castigating the rest of us because we weren't as self-aware as he was. Yes, that's it, I think I've had an epiphany (I swear I'm not being sarcastic). It's not so much I'm annoyed with REM as I am peeved with their 1990, 91, 92, 93 fans who all of sudden became lemmings who bought into their message, but drove around in daddy's Jeep Cherokee or Range Rover and claimed to be socially conscious. (not trying to turn this in eco-rant). I guess the Johnny-come-lately fans turned me off to them, more so than the band itself. BUT I WON'T BACK OFF MEATLOAF (or the fact I can't stand OJ)!!!!!!!
  9. Rent-a-cops are almost as bad as volunteer marshalls at PGA tournaments. These guys get a uniform and a all of sudden they envision themselves as John Walsh from America's Most Wanted or something. The marshalls get that "official" polo shirt and a "quiet please" sign and they think their Tiger's personal assistant. Good story BTW...
  10. Air Force pretty much jobbed themselves with putrid performances down the stretch. They are 0 for16 in conference tournament games dating back to 1990. On the upside it's nice to see the Hoyas becoming a threat again.
  11. I remember him from some commercial he did also, can't remember the product though. He was good in Pet Detective. RIP Richard Jeni

  13. Met Jeff Nixon and Greg Cater as a kid, both nice guys, marginal players at best. Conlan's from Frewsburg, my dad coached him in Babe Ruth allstars, seemed okay, but may have had an inflated image of himself after a couple years. Met Mark Maddox and Phil Hansen when the Bills played the Oilers in San Antonio both very down to earth guys. (I was on the sidelines shooting photos for a air force base newspaper really used my noggin to get those credentials). Hansen asked if he could see my camera and zoomed in on the Oilers cheerleaders, then Bruce Smith comes over and asks if he can see it... obviously as a 23 year old kid I said sure (hell I'm not sure if he was asking me or Phil to be honest) Then they both start checking out the Oilerettes. (classic moment for me) Best Bills player Conlan, best Bills player as a person either Maddox or Hansen.
  14. Oh man, no way! I can even stand remembering him as UT Longhorn. I think we would have a better chance of seeing Thurman, Joe Cribbs and Larry Kinnebrew in a full house backfield before this would happen.
  15. And we have a WINNER!!!!! Great job dev take the rest of the day off.
  16. I work (that's a subjective word) as a System administrator and this definately smacks of the school covering thier hineys because they aren't taking due measures to protect their network. Furthermore when expert testimony like Horner's get's ignored or censored it sounds like there's an agenda somewhere. The jury was sold a lemon by the prosecution and they bought the whole fruit stand.
  17. "Welcome back Willis. Nobody likes you, sorry." "Willis, OJ called he wants his bad reputation back." "Willis, welcome back, did you bring your checkbook? Signed Yo Baby's Momma"
  18. The Bengals or the Raiders will. Pacman Jones... somehow I don't feel pity for the Flamin Thumbtacks drafting this guy. (Karma from the "Homerun throw forward" I say.)
  19. I hated this guy when the Sabres had to play them in the Eastern Conference Finals. I hope he ends up being sent to "NHL Siberia" aka Philadelphia. Actually they would love his style of play down there.
  20. I thought that was Olerud... that's so great! This summer I was back home in WNY on vacation and cleaning out some posters and stuff at my mom's house I had from my younger days and ran across a poster of Kelly Freaking Gruber (with the mullet by the way)! It said Hot Corner on the top of the poster, (not sure if that's a veiled gay reference or not). I brought it back to Colorado with the idea of putting on the wall in my rec-room/sports room in the basement and one of my buddies was over at the house and saw it and started cracking up. He said I might be the only person in the world with a Kelly Gruber poster. It didn't make the final cut for posters that made the wall. Kelly's Heros, Shane Conlan and Thurman Thomas all did though. My wife insisted I buy those cheapo frames at Walmart though before I put them up. Wow you worked with REM? On which album? Pretty cool, no offense meant in my original post about them. Kelly Gruber?
  21. Classic... can Marcia look a little more "Boy-bandish"? Rosie...... when will she stop making noise for the sake of noise? Her 15 minutes were up exactly 35 minutes ago.
  22. I wouldn't say the sky if falling just yet. Did this move make the Pats stronger? Sure it did, but I have faith (note: not blind faith) in Marv, Jauron, etc, they'll get things done... Hell we haven't even gotten through the draft of a mini camp. A lot can happen in 6 months. Injuries, trades, the bird flu, contract disputes, poor team chemistry, Belichick is summoned to the UN Security Council to solve world peace and leaves NE... I wonder how big (or bugged) Reche's eyes were when he found out Stallworth was coming to town?
  23. I was too. Ever since the Ravens got that "reality" TV show "Hard Knocks" and John Feinstein's book they've been one of those non-rival teams I just enjoy seeing lose. I never realized how much Billick really loves the sound of his own voice. It seems like he really thinks he invented this game. It's too bad for Willis that this TV show isn't still being done, he could really showcase himself as the "best back in the NFL."
  24. Now THAT'S funny! Can they be more full of themselves? They got some camera time in the Tusk video and now all of sudden they think they invented marching bands. Watching a USC football game is almost unbearable with them playing that song EVERY...... THREE........ MINUTES.... Loved it when Longhorns put an end to that last year.
  25. 96% scored higher (more nerdy), 1% scored the same, and 3% scored lower (less nerdy). My score was 3 and said "I despise nerds." Yikes! That's bad news for me since my workplace has about a 6 to 1 nerd ratio.
